Thanks, again, JimG. Concerning my original question to the pros, I have very little doubt that you are correct.
The Vatican seems always to be forming Commissions of scientists or foremost experts for advice on this or that. That’s what I meant by a “consensus of Catholic scientists”. You are no doubt aware that today it is necessary to distinguish between the latter scientists and the anti-Catholic “scientists” such as comprise the The Jesus Seminar; according to Wikipedia “a group of about 200 individuals who include ‘scholars with advanced degrees in biblical studies, religion or related fields [as well as] published authors who are recognized authorities in the field of religion’ .” The ignorance and anti-Catholic bias of such “scholars” is, in my opinion, stunning–which is why they are sought after by Cable TV and other secular media.
