In what state is Christ’s flesh when you consume it? If not raw, then in what state?
It does not appear that you are going to get anybody to answer, as to why is debatable, but Reading the suggested site, trosch.org/inx/lanciano.html, we can come to some pausable conclusions.
  1. When a priest “summons” Christ to enter into the bread that the bread “literally” becomes his flesh, the flesh of his heart.
  2. That the flesh, in the account presented, is not immediately consumed but stretched out and pinned down to dry. Therefore, on account of this presentation, we must assume that the flesh is neither raw nor cooked but dried, then consumed.
  3. From 1 and 2 above we therefore must conclude that what is being done today concerning the Eucharist is incorrect for if the bread is turned into living flesh then it must be laid out to dry and then consumed else it is consumed raw.
Hey, these are the assumptions that must be made according to the text that was referenced. Don’t get mad at me, get mad at the person that referenced the article.

“Pausable conclusions” indeed. 😉

If you want to understand the Eucharist, and you refuse to believe what is written here, look up the Catechism of the Catholic Church online. It’s searchable.

Ok, I’m going to dip my pinkie toe into the deep waters of apologetics…

When one looks at the sea of humanity in the Church during a typical mass and doesn’t see ‘estacy’ as would befit being in the presence of the Creator, look to the Israelites of Exodus. They recieved a daily miracle of mana to physically sustain them — how long did they go before they were complaining they weren’t ‘being fed enough’? And did God reject them? No, he loved them and continued to listen to their pathetic complaints. The same God does the same today.

As far as eating the ‘flesh’ of Christ, imho, it is the flesh and blood of his divinity not his human nature that we partake off. I fully believe that Christ is truly and really present in the sacrament, but we are partaking of his divine nature of which we have no comprehension of - this is the Creator of the world, btw who has much more understanding of physics and chemistry than even the great Steven Hawking. Therefore discussion of whether he was roasted or not or if a particular organ is consumed is nonsense. Please correct me if I am wrong (only crossed the Tiber in December).

Feel free to start a discussion on the Real Presence… but please maintain the topic of this thread.

Thank you and God bless-

Rachel

Perhaps it would help to remember that Christ is there entire. He is not somehow divided up into parts/pieces in order to be present in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. Since Christ is now glorified, his blood is not separate from his body. Also, the Incarnation was not a temporary thing. He is one person, but he has the two natures still. So, if Jesus is really present, both natures will be there, and also both the body and the blood will be together. So, it is not that the divinity is there without the human-ness, in the Eucharist. He is there whole/entire. I’m not sure if you meant anything different from that, anyway. It is hard to use language with precision here, since it is a mystery.

I agree with you about those folks wandering in the wilderness and whining about the boring manna. We are often unresponsive to the Eucharist, sadly. I imagine if I had a pillar of cloud in my backyard for 40 years, I’d eventually get annoyed with it and how it crushed my petunias, blew over my badminton net, and caused the neighbors to complain when they had barbecues. Sigh.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, I just realized I was writing this while the moderator was posting something. Should I erase it?

At the risk of offending people, I’ll be honest.

I hate the fact that the Church refuses to excommunicate pro-abortion politicians, and actually allows them to take communion. This totally negates any pro-life teaching the Church has, since it clearly sends the message that violations of Church doctrine is tolerated. Just imagine if a government enacted laws, and then refused to enforce those laws.
I totally, 100% agree. But remember, as long as there is a human component to God’s Catholic Church, there will fail to do what’s right.
I don’t like the fact that Catholics claim to have the one true Church, but mostly refuse to evangelise people.
I don’t get you here. In the history of the Church, she has evangelised more people than any and all of the Protestant sects combined. If you’re specifically talking about nowadays, I think you’re overlooking Africa and Asia, where massive Catholic evangelism and conversions to the Church are taking place. As for the Western world… all I can say is that our culture is in decline, and it’s our fault.

Been there, done that, not convinced.

Seems like someone quoted to Jesus once, “This teaching is hard; who can accept it”?

Adhering to the tenets of the Catholic faith is a discipline not all can accept. Perhaps poor catechesis is the cause?

Tradition confuses people sometimes. It’s an aweful lot to take in. The basic Gospel message is that we have broken Gods laws, He will require justice, but has given us a way out through His earthly incarnation and blood sacrifice. The simplicity of the Gospel is lost when complicated traditions are introduced.

Sadly I am sure you believe that; its easy for people to tell themselves what is above to avoid a actual intellectual thought.

Sheep being led to the slaughter because of a misguided church.

🤷
In the end, you shall see who was the misguided one. For those who follow the True Church can never be misguided. The misguided ones are they who left the Church, but yet still hang around here in such places like Catholic Answers Forum, acting like a sheep in wolves clothing!
