Why has God left us?

This is called despair, and is certainly not apropos of an online thread if one wants help. It is hit or miss as to whether someone is sympathetic or not. A priest or doctor, if it is a medical condition related to chronic depression, is much needed in your case apparently. Please do more that start a novena to see if you can “force” it through. Perseverance is not giving up when at first you are not helped, and going elsewhere to find what you know, from God, is right.

My sympathy is with you. And looking at the world and all those who reject the light of God and His Reason in us, He leaves us because we are disposing ourselves to not accept Him.
It is a must we be able to accept Him, either it’s our fault or sometimes it is not our fault. This is taught by Catholicism. Getting help is not wrong.

the world. it is without God. no one cares.
and like Jesus said in the Matthew, then it’s up to us, His followers (we are the salt of the world), **we ** are to flavor up the world with our faith when the world loses it’s way.

and it has lost it’s way and you allow your heart to be troubled and Jesus specifically asked you not to allow your heart to be troubled.

Have faith.

If you have an issue with the world, get out there and change it. YOU are the light of the world. Do not pass the buck off on someone else.

it is not what i feel. it is what happened. Jesus left. He said He was going to be back. people thought soon. 500 years later people think soon. 1000 years people think soon. now people think soon like a child abandoned. always like to think soon they will be back. i think people want God. i think people need God. i do. i think He has left. i think i want what is not there.
:hug1: God is here. He’s in the Eucharist… His Holy Spirit is here… Jesus said He will never leave us. But we don’t always feel His presence. Do you maybe feel that it’s “too good to be true” if God is still here, that it doesn’t correspond with what we’re used to as ‘the reality’, since it usually disappoints us? hmm hope that made sense… well we live in a fallen world so many things are disappointing. But God is not part of the world and doesn’t follow its rules. He is still here… and sometimes that’s something that we keep on believing despite our feelings. Feelings can be very deceptive. Just my two cents…

God bless

Jesus is King. a King sees. a King knows. i think Jesus would not watch and do nothing. i think it is easy to see. God grew tired of us. left.
how can God grow tired of us after He died for us on the Cross? He proved His love to us on the Cross and He proves it to us now in the Eucharist. He is not doing nothing… every day, He is changing people’s lives. But in order for us to allow Him to change our lives, we have to trust Him. If we distrust, if we disbelieve, that easily draws us away from God, and our faith lessens even more.

The reason why evil still exists, why suffering still exists, is because the world is not yet as it should be. One day, Jesus will come again and “make all things new”. But He is here now too, preparing us for that time, preparing us for Heaven, and also comforting us in our journey… but we need to trust Him, or we would lose graces.

God bless you.

i am sorry to not be apropos. hit or miss. i know this. mostly i keep silent. i think it is better. i say things. it is a risk. some people like to hear silence. i know a person once who only wants silence. i know good reasons to be silent. this person i never say a thing. they think it is good. they tell all people i am good. i stay silent.

the novena. i was not trying to make a thing from it. i did not know it. never prayed it before. i did not believe what i was praying. other Catholics. believe. i never know what a prayer is going to do. at times praying frightens me. God frightens me.

The world has never acknowledged God. Ever. In every generation the world pursues its wordly ambitions, fascinated about games of its own power.

This causes suffering, sometimes bearable, sometimes unbearable.

Christ bore that suffering, and He is here. He has not left us, and He has always been with us. He has not moved his position.

He never was a part of the worldly games, and will never be.

You need to see a doctor. I just read about *half *of the posts you’ve made on CAF. You’ve already admitted elsewhere that you need to see a doctor. You know.

It is clear that you are an abuse survivor. Promiscuous sex? Substance abuse? Cutting? And you hate all men because it was a man that abused you. Many men have abused you it seems. Not all men are like that but you wouldn’t know. You continue to seek out only men that will treat you the way that you feel you should be treated–like sh*t. (Which may be why God frightens you–we call God “Our Father.” You have been injured by men. Have you not gone to Our Lady in prayer?)

You already have one foot in hell. You know I’m right. And I mean literally. Your despair is so deep. The thing that will stop you from getting help is that you like it. You like it and hate it at the same time.

God hasn’t left you, but your soul is half dead and that’s what makes you feel like God has left you. A part of your soul has atrophied. The part of you that’s still alive is the part of you that writes on this forum, the part of you that wanted to be Catholic. God has called to you but you cannot fully convert because you’re still somewhat fascinated by the person that you claim to have once been. You have been a victim. By continuing to despair you are letting the abusers of your past victimize you time and time again in the present. You have to stop wanting it. You have to stop thinking that you deserve it.

I don’t know you, but reading your past posts (a fascinating study to be sure) you are in great pain. As a child I witnessed the sexual abuse of a friend. In the last few years I’ve lost my career as a teacher, my wife left me and took my three-year-old son, I had to give my dog away, my wife kept the house and I just finished moving into an apartment and now I may be losing my current job because of the recession. And I suspect you’ve had it worse.

I want you to meditate on something. The adulteress brought before Jesus. She had been caught in the act of adultery and was brought before Jesus to be stoned to death. Jesus says “Let whoever is without sin cast the first stone.” Of course no one did. Jesus tells the woman her sins are forgiven, to go and sin no more. The woman doesn’t stop and say “But Jesus, sinning is so fun!”

How much fun is sinning, really? How far has it got you? Has sinning made you happy? Has it brought you peace? The punishment for sin is wrapped up in the sin itself. I wouldn’t be so bold saying all of this if I hadn’t read your previous posts where you discussed these things.

You are not responsible for what happened to you. You are not. That was another person’s sin. You are responsible for what you do from today onward. You need medical help. You can’t do this alone. You can get better. You can be healed. Don’t you want it?

both. God is not in me. i am empty. i do not pray for a long time. i think there is no point.
Well there’s your problem. Praying is how you find God, and if you do not pray, how can you expect to know who/where he is and whether he’s left humanity, as you claim?

Were you praying for something that he did not grant?

when i pray i have in my heart nothing but thank you. i only ask that God keeps me with Him. i pray for other people.

i fear to say more than that. God is GOD. i think and say all the wrong things. i do not want to say all the wrong things to God. at times i say i am sorry for being so screwed up.

i did not know prayer before. it is still a strange thing.

nom the wise. i think i made you angry.

i do not hate men. there is a thing in me. i like all people. it is a good way to get beat up. to like all people. most people want some thing. some times it takes time to know what they want. what a person wants to take from me. men it is not so hard to know. i have a thing in me that men see. they want. they take. it is true i like this. it feeds a hunger. it fills what is empty. i hate this about me. it does not stop. i see it here. some like to watch. they take. i like to show. it feeds. all people have one foot in hell.

Not having read every post in the thread, I am perhaps jumping into already ploughed ground.

I get the picture that you are a very Feelings oriented person and needs to get those feelings fed quite often.

God certainly has not left us. Jesus promised us that He would send another Comforter and in a few days, at the end of the month, the Church will be celebrating the out-pouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, when the Church was born.

Rather than getting lost in good advice seek the truth of the Spirit and the reality of God’s presence will again reveal itself to you.

that is it. too good to be true.
Chromatica, but that’s exactly what I was talking about, 🙂 that the reason why we have this phrase at all “too good to be true” is because in our world, that’s how things are sometimes. But not so with God. Why would God be like our fallen world? The world has left God, that’s why there’s suffering and why things don’t always turn out as they should. But God has not left, He said He will be with us always. Even though things aren’t perfect.

The fact that the world isn’t perfect doesn’t mean that God has left. It means that we recognize its imperfection because deep inside, we know it was meant to be different. The reason it’s this way, is not because of God, but because of sin.

I think if we lose hope in God, if we lose hope that He is with us and start being distrustful of Him, that is despair, and despair is always from the devil… *never *from God. Whatever is giving you these thoughts, is not from God, but from the enemy, the deceiver.

We simply can’t rely on our feelings to tell us if God is with us or not. Whatever we feel, even when we pray, that can be a lie. Feelings change. They’re affected by many things. Our faith should not be based on feelings, but on the truth that we have once accepted.

Could you try using complete sentences? Pretty much all posts you’ve ever made are painful to read.

Chromatica, maybe it would help you to read about the Saints. Many of them went through “dark nights” where they felt abandoned by God, some even felt that there is no God. For example, St Therese, went through a ‘dark night of the soul’ when she was dying of tuberculosis - at the time when she most needed to know that God is with her, she felt far from Him. Mother Teresa went through this for many years. What these Saints teach us though, is that this is a way we can share in Christ’s Passion - when He felt abandoned by the Father when He was on the Cross. They did not rely on their feelings. They still trusted in God. Even though they didn’t feel Him there, they still believed He was, and used that time to love Him more than before. Because of course, love is a choice and not just a feeling. We learn to love when it’s hard to love. We learn to believe when it’s hard to believe: in fact, the Saints, considered their “dark nights” to be great gifts from God, not curses. And in the end, when these Saints learned how to truly love God in a way detached from self and from feeling… they saw that actually, He never left, and was there all along. Some of them even wrote that He was closer to them during this time than when they felt near to Him and received consolations.

Do you think that maybe God is allowing you to feel this way so that you’d also learn to love Him and believe in a way that’s not dependent on feelings? So that you’d be able to choose Him regardless of how you feel? CS Lewis wrote that the devil has little power over a person who looks around at a world from which God seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been abandoned, yet still obeys. It’s obedience that matters, not feelings… we are sanctified by obedience and trust.

Here is a quote from St Faustina’s Diary:
"My daughter, know that if I allow you to feel and have a more profound knowledge of My sufferings, that is a grace from Me. But when your mind is dimmed and your sufferings are great, it is then that you take an active part in My Passion, and I am conforming you more fully to Myself. It is your task to submit yourself to My will at such time, more than at others… " (Jesus)
Here’s another one:
One day, I saw two roads. One was broad, covered with sand and flowers, full of joy, music and all sorts of pleasures. People walked along it, dancing and enjoying themselves. They reached the end without realising it. And at the end of the roads there was a horrible precipice; that is the abyss of hell. The souls fell blindly into it; as they walked, so they fell. And their number was so great that it was impossible to count them. And I saw the other road, or rather, a path, for it was narrow and strewn with thorns and rocks; and the people who walked along it had tears in their eyes, and all kinds of suffering befell them. Some fell down upon the rocks, but stood up immediately and went on. At the end of the road there was a magnificent garden filled with all sorts of happiness, and all these souls entered there. At the very first instant they forgot all their sufferings.
(Divine Mercy in My Soul, St Faustina)
“My daughter, do you think you have written enough about My mercy? what you have written is but a drop compared to the ocean. I am Love and Mercy Itself. there is no misery that could be a match for My mercy; neither will misery exhaust it, because as it is being granted - it increases. the soul that trusts in My mercy is most fortunate, because I Myself take care of it” (Jesus to St Faustina)
“Eternity draws nigh: soon shall we live the very life of God. After having drunk deep at the fount of bitterness, our thirst will be quenched at the very source of all sweetness.” St Therese

“I desire no sensible consolation in loving; provided Jesus feel my love that is enough for me. Oh! to love Him and to make Him loved… how sweet it is…” St Therese

In the end, we must ask ourselves the question… do we love God because of how it makes us feel, because of the consolations or spiritual experiences we receive, or is it for His own sake? the **only way **we learn to love God for His own sake is when we choose to love and to believe in Him when He seems far, when we feel abandoned by Him. That is more selfless, and in this way, we die to self… He allows these types of trials for a reason. But, He is always with us, regardless of what we feel.

maybe it would help to read St Padre Pio’s words here:

God bless.

That sounds pretty good, I think. You might try things like the Jesus Prayer or the Rosary if you don’t know what to say when you pray, or items from the Liturgy of Hours.

I’ll just add one last thing 😉 if you think that God left… than what does the Cross mean? Christ’s love for us is measured not by our feelings but by His Cross. If He humbled Himself so much that He became a human being… and then died a horrible death for us… why would He EVER leave us, after this? We shouldn’t trust in our feelings, but in the Cross. 🙂

everyone tells me so many things. i am simple. i think follow the Spirit is what i do.
