Why human soul is immortal? Philosophy
While Catholic teaching is that the existence of God can be proven by reason it has, as far as i know, never taught that anyone has accurately formulated such a proof. Aquinas’s 5 Ways are no longer widely considered the silver bullets they once were…especially the First Way.
That the cosmos may have always been is a logically acceptable proposition. Do you agree?

Regardless, the issue is proving the immortality of the soul not the existence of an uncaused first cause allegedly identifiable with the Christian God.

I don’ t agree with that. There is an argument against that: If the universe has always existed then it should have existed in minus infinity. You however cannot reach from minus infinity to now. Therefore there is a beginning for the universe.

I however think that “Nothing” is unstable and there was a point that there was “Nothing”. “Nothing” has to turn into something which is stable, the universe. So that resolve the problem of beginning. You however need time at the first point otherwise you cannot have a change from “Nothing” to the universe. This means that time is fundamental.

Well I am with Aristotle and Aquinas on that point so we will just have to agree to disagree over the philosophic consistency of the position.

Human soul in Catholicism is form of matter in human being. We know that this form changes and decomposes upon death. The question is how the form can be immortal?
In Catholicism:
All living things have a “soul” (life force) that enlivens the physical matter, but only human beings have a spiritual soul that is immortal. Human nature is a composite of mortal matter and immortal spirit.

Human beings have a spiritual, immortal soul because they are created in the “image of God” with rational intellect and free will.

Only the physical matter (body) of humans decomposes upon death. The spiritual soul continues living because it is immortal. Human death is a separation of the mortal body and the immortal spirit.
