It seems you only criticize the one and not the other though (I may be wrong, but it seems like that).
And you do not criticize your fellow Christian for Un-Christian behaviour…whats your point???
And FYI I have said things(not many granted) in the past that side with Catholics 🙂

I think that might be debated, at one point or another.:hmmm:

Please, muslim, explain me evidences for believing that Muhammad saw the Angel Gabriel?, Islam was a religion invented by Muhammad. It is very clear.
Franze has asked a valid question. Where is the proof that the Angel Gabriel actually appeared to Mohammed, other than that Mohammed said so? And if he did, why did the word of God come through an angel and not God Himself?

We’ve never had a real answer! Where’s the proof? And why does Islam have to rely so heavily on discrediting Christianity to prove its claims? Why keep insisting that Jesus is not the Son of God? Because Jesus Christ is a stumbling block to Mohammed.

We’re not the ones that have to provide the proof, Muslims are the ones that need to do so!

Dear Muslim friend, I read your list of objections and can tell that you really don’t know very much about Catholic theology. Not that I expect you to. I know next to nothing about the teachings and theology of Islam, which I’ve never seen any reason to explore. and quite frankly, still don’t. But, however that may be, I have a suggestion that may help you in your researches into Christianity. If you want to understand Catholicism as opposed to Christian Fundamentalism (whose teachings you have unwittingly intermingled in your objections) you have to read first and foremost the Catechism of the Catholic Church. If you don’t want to research it online, you can pick up a copy at any bookstore in the inspirational/religion section. All the best to you and yours. 🙂

I do get upset about the bashing that Catholics due regarding Islam. I also get upset regarding the bashing that Muslim’s do regarding the catholic faith.
I am not a Catholic nor am I a Muslim. I was married to a Catholic and my two sons are catholic and have family that are Muslim so I see both sides of the coin (so to speak).
What I dont understand is why do certain members attempt to “bait” Muslims…this only leads to negative remarks from both sides eventually.
What upsets me is that catholics really do not care what Islam is about (no one wants you to convert) they are only out to blame Muslims and Islam for ALL terrorists activites.
**As to being "honest"with you and myself…I have to ask “honest” about what? **
IMHO Sometimes the unconscious shows things we don’t realize. When talking about Islam and Muslims you always use capital letters. When mentioning Catholics you tend to use both the capital and the lower case. A Catholic is used to refer to a believer of Holy Mother Church. A catholic is someone that holds something universal not necessarily a believer.

:rotfl: that is only because I am typing to fast and dont always go back to correct typos.
As to a Catholic and a catholic I do know the difference but thank you for pointing them out to me once again.

Why do you never make that mistake when discussing Islam and Muslims?

WHY I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN?

Why I am not a Christian?

.
I have issues with praying to Saints, worshipping Mary , Holy Communion, annulments, Confession and origianl sin. So far these are my only hinderances to joining the R.C. Church.
If I could understand these things a bit better or truly believe why these things are so important I may change my mind.

Why I am not a Christian?

I have never been a Christian nor will I ever become a Christian because of these main reasons.

1- Christianity is man-made religion. it contradicts pure monotheism which all previous prophets taught

2- It is vague when it speaks of a man being God at the same time , and being the son of himself?!

3- it accuses me of being guilty of an alleged sin which I have nothing to do with… Why are we being punished for Adam’s sin? After all, he ate the
forbidden fruit, we didn’t. It’s his problem, not ours, especially in
light of Deut. 24:16, which says children shall not be punished for the
sins of their fathers.

4- It makes God look so helpless and blood thirsty because He could not forgive Adam & Eve and required the torture humiliation of himself to forgive them ??!! in other words He killed himself to please himself!

5- the Bible is full of contradictions, scientific and historical mistakes which proves it is man made

6- If you must accept Jesus as your Savior in order to be saved (John
14:6), what about the billions of beings that die as fetuses, infants,
and mentally deficient, etc.? For them to accept Jesus would be
impossible. So they are condemned to hell because of conditions over
which they had no control. Deut. 32:4 says God is just, but where is
the justice?
  1. If God had created Adam and Eve to stay in Heavens, was He unable to protect them from Satan? Did He warn them against obeying Satan by telling them the consequences if they did?
The fact is: When God created Adam & Eve, HE put them in Paradise & warned them against obeying Satan, & told them that if they did obey him, they will be kicked out of Paradise.
We know the rest of the story. Of course it was Gods plan all along to have Adam & Eve live here on earth, but He made them go through that experience with Satan as a practical lesson for all of us so that we know what happens to us if we disobey God & obey Satan, unless you think God planned for them to stay in Paradise forever but was unable to protect them from Satan.

8- salvation either wipes out all sins, or it does not.
If the first case is true, then it leads to what we say that Christianity encourages people to do whatever they please.

If the second case is the fact, then there is no need to what Jesus PBUH had gone through.
  1. Christians worship more than one God, ie Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Christians say that it is only one God, however even their most knowledgeable priests cannot completely explain the trinity.
  2. Christians disregard the laws of the Old Testament, and have made it legal for themselves to do sinful acts such as eating pork, drinking alcohol, and not circumcising their sons.
  3. Christians depict images of holy figures such as Jesus, Mary, saints, and other prophets and use those images to direct their worship. I regard this as idolatry, and also as disregarding the second of the ten commandments:
“You shall have no other gods besides Me…Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above…”
  1. Most Christians insult other religions/religious leaders such as Muslims. This tells me that they have very little tolerance and believe that they have a monopoly on truth; therefore they are unwilling to consider any other religions’ beliefs.
  2. Most of the Christians practices in Church and in their homes were invented after the time of Jesus. Almost everything Christians due whether it is standing in church singing songs to hanging crosses on their necks is an innovation.
Peace.
That’s fine. In fact, some of your criticisms are justifiable. You are entitled to obey your conscience. While there are significant theological differences between Moslems and Christians, there are areas of convergence. Moslems are also “people of the Book,” and “children of Abraham.” But remember, if you want to be a good Moslem you must obey Allah and practice Islam wholeheartedly. If you really believe something, you will commit your life to it. Unfortunately there are many Christians and Catholics that are unwilling to do this when it comes to their own faith.

Please know that as a Catholic Christian, I have no animosity toward you. I rejoice in the fact that you believe in God and desire to obey Him as you recognize His presence in your life.

May peace be upon you, and upon all those like you who sincerely seek after God.

Wow! That’s practically the whole spectrum of Christianity!

Maybe you can start a new thread and address each of these issues. Or do a search in the forums for those topics…the Catholic Answers home page is also a great resource. I’m sure we can help you in coming to a closer understanding of these issues (in kindness and charity, of course!) 👍

Not really the WHOLE spectrum…I have only certain issues with each of these things…not the WHOLE of each of these things.
But thank you otherwise…:yup:

Where did you get the idea that Catholics worship Mary? You seem to be misinformed or have been reading Jack Chick.

To me the Rosary and praying to Mary & Saints makes no sense…why should I pray to these people when I can pray to GOD directly? Doesnt God hear all of our prayers?
It seems to me once again that in praying to these other people you are trying to gain favor(s) that your prayers will be answered more favorably (sp?).
As to Jack Chick…dont know who that is?

The crux of the matter is that that is how it appears to you. 😉 The truth of the matter is another issue, wouldn’t you agree? All of us can misjudge other’s beliefs and practices by what we think we know or see in them instead of by what is actually meant by them or what is actually being done.

If you truly do want to understand praying to the saints and the rosary, I recommend you do a bit of reading from Catholic sources. This very website has good material on both topics. I think that if we don’t really know what is being practiced and why we really can’t have an opinion–at least not a well-informed one. Don’t you agree? 🙂

No need to read anything about it…have spoken to our priest (R.C.) about it and he has explained it to me…I still do not agree with it or better yet it still does not make sense to me:D

Have you ever asked someone to pray for you or have you ever prayed for someone else?
