My dear child, *please *take the time to learn about where the canon of Scripture came from before you embarrass yourself any further. Don’t take our word for it. There are even sane non-Catholics who understand that even the canon of the Old Testament as we know it comes to us through the Church: the Catholic Church.

R. C. Sproul, a very sound Presbyterian Christian apologist, covers the subject of canonicity with integrity. He has a web site Ligonier.com. It will probably set your teeth on edge for me to refer you to Where We Got the Bible because it is a Catholic source, but I haven’t a convenient alternative to hand at the moment.

The body of Christ is the members of Christ’s body which is all throughout the world.
Give Bible proof of your statements.

First of all, your history is fallacious. St. Ignatius of Antioch wrote about the Catholic Church around 110 AD: “Where the bishop is present, there is the Catholic Church” (To the Smyrnaeans 8:2). Clearly, the Catholic Church was well in place by then. Just look at the archeological evidence found in the catacombs, not to mention the writings of the early church fathers – some of whom hung out with the apostles, who in turn hung out with Christ. Look into it for yourself.

Second, please provide direct and explicit biblical references for the following:

Worship on Sunday
Wednesday night prayer meetings
Alter calls
Accepting Jesus as our “personal” Lord and Savior
Reciting the sinners prayer
The word “Bible”
The word “Trinity”
The canon of the bible
this list can go on and on and on…

Sola Scriptura is a human device (thanks Luther!); it claims scripture as the sole authority for Christians. However, if this is true scripture should explicitly state so and it does not.
Ref: 2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is profitable…” there is the operative word – “profitable” It is authoritative but not the “sole” authority that you are claiming.

My point is that you keep asking for exclusive scriptural proof when scripture is NOT the only source of authority for Christians.

I am not sure what to say. The Psychologist in me feels for you because in order to show this much hate, you are really hurting.

The mathmatician in me wants to see your numbers and discuss the fact that a child is MUCH more likely to be molested by a preacher than a preist.

What a disturbingly twisted view of the priesthood. I will tell you this: I started practicing Christianity as a Protestant in 1992. I had been too Baptist, Missionary Alliance, and Methodist churches during this time. In 2007, I visited a Catholic Church for the first time. I started the RCIA program in September of that same year, and was confirmed in March 2008. I have just attended a parish retreat for the first time, and for the first time I prayed and I felt a connection with my Lord and Savior. How dare you say that the Priesthood of the Catholic Church leads people away from Christ! How dare you call the only Church with the fullness of truth a fraud. I encourage you to explore Catholic Answers, and you will see the truth of the Catholic Church.

It was exactly my point that non-Catholic views of the priesthood can be pretty twisted. If one’s goal is to lead people away from Christ, it is pretty silly to believe that one would do it through a vocation that involves elaborate vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.
