Hi RobHom,Out of curiosity…might you be one of those “half-witted critics”?
That statement leads me to wonder what purpose drives you?
But…I will make it easier for you to “understand”…the answer to your lack of understanding…is that why they would do what they do is the result of a calling and desire to serve God and their fellow man.
I think that you miss understood pmcdermo’s post which I took as a satire. I believe that he is Catholic.
I’m trying to understand why someone would leave their family, study for many years, forgo marriage and ordinary family life, fast, pray, and endure a seemingly unbroken stream of half-witted critics, just to perpetrate a fraud designed to lead people away from Jesus. It seems that being a news editor or peddler of bathtub gin would be an easier tactic - and the pay is better.
God Bless! It was exactly my point that non-Catholic views of the priesthood can be pretty twisted. If one’s goal is to lead people away from Christ, it is pretty silly to believe that one would do it through a vocation that involves elaborate vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.
