Agreed - but again - the Catholic position is that faith combined with works is what saves you.
Being judged according to our works is seperate and apart from our salvation. Paul made this clear. You will be judged for many things you did in your life, but the Catholic belief that salvation is attained by a combination of faith and works is incorrect.
Apparently, you have no idea what the Catholic Church actually teaches regarding faith.
This is the summary of Catholic belief.
We believe we are saved by God’s grace. It is our love for God that causes us to have faith, and how do we show our faith? We do it by our actions.
Even James said in his Epistles.
James Chapter 2 Verse 16-26:
16: and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit?
17: So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
18: But some one will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.
19: You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe – and shudder.
20: Do you want to be shown, you shallow man, that faith apart from works is barren?
21: Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
22: You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works,
23: and the scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”; and he was called the friend of God.
24: You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.
25: And in the same way was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26: For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead.
Second, we are judge by our actions during judgement day not by faith. When the Son of Man comes in glorify, he will say to the Right, "Come good and faithful servant. Enter the kingdom of heaven. For I was hungry, you feed me, when I was thirsty, you gave me drink, when I was naked, you clothed me,… " The servant said, "Lord, when did I feed you, offer you drink, clothed you?’
"When you do this to the least of my brethrens you did it to me "
We don’t do these corporal works for mercy to earn our way to heaven. We do what Jesus commanded us because we love him. Because Jesus said, “If you love me, obey my commandments.” That is everything that he taught us.
The doctrine of Sola Fide implies laziness and that all you need is have faith in God and do nothing at all. To me, Sola Fide cheapens Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection on the cross. It is not taught by the Apostles or their successors. Jesus doesn’t even teaches it.
Sola Fide came out of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s.
