I wonder why the Danish newspaper jyllands posten had the desire to insult prophet Muhammad (pbuh)!!! The one who was put in the top of the list of the 100 Most influental Persons in Histroy. He came before Paul and Jesus!! Top One Hundred

**And why now? **Why they chose this timing to pour their hatred against Islam in their newspaper?!

**If they really knew HIM, **they would have never wrote an insulting word about this great prophet who liberated and guided mankind to the right path.

**We, Muslims, respect Jesus **and all other prophets. It is blasphemous to insult any prophet! If a Muslim dishonored a prophet, he will go to hell FOREVER!!

If we respect ur prophets, why dont u respect ours?!

If you said it is freedom of speech, well, but ur freedom ends at the lines of others! You dont want anyone to call your father names, or make fun of your mom, and then say, it is freedom of speech! Right?!

As I stated in another post, Christians do not believe Mohammad was a prophet so no insult is being leveled at one of God’s prophets. No offense but Islamic respect for Jesus falls woefully short of the Christian standard. We believe Him to be God, Muslims believe Him to just be one of many prophets. Agree or not, but there it is in a nutshell.

  1. Don’t let the irresponsible action of a few make you believe that Christianity as a whole (or it’s followers) are out to be offensive or are out to get you. This would be like us thinking that all Muslims are like Al Qaeda.
  2. We don’t believe Jesus was just a prophet. We believe He was God incarnate. It could be seen as blasphemous to say that he was just a prophet to us.
  3. We don’t believe Muhammad was a prophet at all.

Wrong. If freedom of speech only ended where it could possibly offend or contradict what others are saying it wouldn’t be freedom of speech. Sometimes being offended is necessary to preserve a free nation where anyone can follow any religion they wish (short of a little offensive joke here and there).

Either way, we are constantly being assaulted with insults against Christianity AND we are being targeted for death by Radical Muslims. Believe me, most Christians would rather see the random offensive joke than the random exploding bomb. But, we’ve been persecuted through out our history… just as Jesus said would happen.

Keep the Faith

Because we don’t believe in the Koran or the prophet Mohammed.

Islam is a system of belief that came after Judaism and Christianity were established religions. Islam is a mixture of Jewish and Christian beliefs, and just enough added to make it a unique system of belief. Is it just a coincidence that Mohammed supposedly rose to heaven like Jesus did? Come on. Be honest. Mohammed just plagiarized what he wanted to steal from the Bible.

the Koran is written in such a way as to be totally intolerant of people of any other faith. So, your belief, itself, is an insult to Christianity.

Christianity is the true religion and Yahweh is the one and only true God of all ages and all people. Jesus Christ is God and Man, the only name by which men are saved.

Our Prophets are the Apostles, and you don’t honor them. Jesus is not a Prophet, so calling Him such does not indicate that you respect Him either.

No disrespect is intended, but it seems you have lumped a whole lot of us under something the Danish news published.

Kind of unfair and judgmental I’d have to say.
Might it be better to address the source?

He is number one based on the opinion of one person. I’m sure he is number one on your list also, but Jesus is number one on mine and many others. The point is your statement doesn’t carry much weight.

Nobody expects you to like anything you consider insulting. Also, I’m sure it hurts, as it does me when someone insults Jesus. However, be rest assured that if God takes offense, he can handle it Himself.

If this is true, then why get angry, because they have damned themselves? Correct? There is no retribution that you or any Muslim could ever levy upon them that would top sending them to hell. Correct?

Whoa! Don’t lump the rest of us in with them. Do you want me to lump you in with Osama bin Laden or the Chechnyan baby killers?

Wrong. It may that way in other parts of the world, but in country’s with true freedom of speech, you have to take the good with the bad. Otherwise, who gets to be the one to pick where the line is drawn? It may be someone who thinks your political views cross their line (example Saddam Hussein…any perceived opposition to any of his views, his evil children’s views, were considered to have crossed the line, and met with horrible retribution, and if you were lucky, death.)

I agree with jrabs. It does seem that muslims have lumped all of western society under the banner of the European secular press. From my understanding of the issue, the decision to publish cartoons in a secular newspaper had nothing at all to do with christianity. This is a cultural issue. Western culture tolerates freedom of speech, even when that speech is offensive. Western culture values freedom of speech to such an extent that it tolerates even speech that is considered scandalous to various religious groups. I can recall an “art” exhibit in New York a few years ago that included such displays as a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine, and a cross smeared with feces. Such “art” was offensive and scandalous to those of us who profess to be christians, and we voiced our displeasure along with our complaints that the “artists” obtained federal funding for their “artwork.” Even so, most people acknowledged that - as offensive as the works were - the artists had every right to display them.

The flipside is that we, as the offended parties had every right to boycot the gallery where the art was displayed, and we had every right to boycot companies that supported such works. What we have no right to do, however, is to call for the death of the artist and the destruction of the gallery. To the contrary, we as christians were called to pray for the conversion of their souls.

I see nothing improper about the Muslim community engaging in economic boycots against the papers if they are offended by the contents. But the Muslim community living in Western society should stop short of engaging in death threats, violent protests, and threats of terrorism and destruction. Those kinds of responses hold no place in a civilized society.

One other comment - I saw nothing about Muslims praying for their European persecutors. Why is it that the teachings of Islam compel no empathy or forgiveness in such cases?

-Peace

My I also add it has elements of gnosticism as well as old fashioned Arabian paganism. Just thought I’d point that out :whacky:

Be advised that we as Catholics believe that God has come to us directly and that there was no need for anymore prophets, How does one improve on the words of the Master.

PPatience:

Let me begin by saying this is my personal opinion of the matter:
  1. Muhammad was a self proclaimed “prophet” with no other prophet naming him as legitimate. It’s a little difficult for a Jewish or a Catholic person to believe that M. was legitimate for many of his doctrines go against what the Jewish and the Catholic faith has established before Islam came into the picture.
  2. We have been innundated by the media of the past 1300 years-History; that Islam has always attacked and coerced conversion and leave people in its wake joyless. The present media doesn’t ever mention anything positive, everytime there’s news about Islam there’s blood and death. Even in the Hajj, they manage to kill themselves…it’s difficult to attribute a true faith when all we see is suffering and death. We strive for peace, justice, joy, life, goodness and love. All of which doesn’t seem to flourish in Islam. Unfair as it seems to you, that’s what we see. Now, why would I want an Islamic world view?
When Islamic people declare that their truth is absolute, we have to say WAIT A MINUTE, prove that! We have means to prove Catholicism is true…we do not rely on one self proclaimed writer to determine truth for us.

If this is harsh, let me apologize but this is straight talk from one Catholic if you’re wondering what can possibly be going on in a Catholic’s head.

the more you become paranoid with anything. the more people love to make fun of you. you never ignore them… you killed those who wanted to express their freedom of speech… you threated them… you scared them… this is the impact. So people make fun which supposed to be impolite to do. Pls correct yourself.

Why do you say: “…Jesus, peace be upon him,…” when He is peace and the author of peace. It would be better to wish peace upon those who need it, you and me.

I find it offending that Muslims say ‘peace be upon him’ about Jesus because Jesus is God! A human saying ‘peace be upon him’ about God!

I dont care that you believe that Mohamed was not a prophet. But to insult him? Arent you supposed to love even your enemies.

I’ve realized this much from being on this forum…that some Christians talk about love a lot…but thats where it stays…in their mouth.

Faith101:

No. He did teach His followers to beware of false prophets - and Mohammed is certainly a false prophet, as well as an anti-Christ, by his denial of the Incarnation. Therefore, he is very likely in Hell.

Besides, his morality allows human nature recourse to revenge and other wicked passions, so it is not an advance on that of Jesus, nor even in accord with it: it is regressive - and that is not what the morality of a genuine prophet, succeding to other genuine prophets, is like. If Muslim claims for Muhammed were valid, he ought to be holier than Jesus. But he is far from being anything of the kind - look at their respective teachings on marriage, for a start. Muhammad’s is a total denial of that of Jesus 😦

Christians are entirely capable of doing foul and hellish things - but at least we know we are bad Christians in so doing. A Muslim, by contrast, can be a good Muslim while committing all sorts of atrocities :(. ##

Yes, this is true. And unfortunately we aren’t the best at being perfect. However, aren’t Muslims supposed to be peaceful also? Yet, the actions of Muslims around the world show that the people don’t always follow your teachings either.

Don’t let the misguided actions of a few twist your image of what Christianity is supposed to be… just as we shouldn’t let the misguided actions of a few Muslims twist our image of what Islam should be. 😉
