Hello,

I fail to see how it is possible for Catholics to say “God is real,” and why they completely ignore the thousands of other religions out there.

What makes Catholicism the truly correct religion? You can’t say it’s a matter of faith due to the fact that it’s a matter of faith among ALL other religions, you (Catholics) simply have the popularity advantage.

Because Jesus rose from the dead. If Jesus rose from the dead, then what he said is true, and what he said points towards the Catholic Church.

Well how come all the other religions can say their god is real?

But thats not a response to my question due to the fact that it requires faith in the first place to believe such a thing. If that is your true reply, then the Egyptians could reply that we should believe in Osiris because he resurrected as part of the continuing story of their faith.

I’m referring to the initial belief. Why is your faith in Catholicism the correct one? Sure, if Jesus rose from the dead, then what he said is true, the key word being “if”. That sort of story is not difficult to make up, and you do not have proof that it is true even after 2,000 years.

I kinda explained this on the other thread.

As only Catholicism participates in true worship of God and participates in God’s plan to unite us with Him it proves itself as the only belief system that validly unites us with God.

Here is a link that shows why the unity of truth is so necessary.

Concerning other belief systems…
All other major belief systems admit that they are based on mans revelation where Catholicism claims that God actually came to participate in our elevation to the status of being able to be united with Him.

Hopefully that help a little,

The belief system of Osiris has changed and does not exist anymore, so it is invalid.

Catholicism is the correct Faith because it was founded by Jesus.

And Jesus is the Son of God, sent by the Father for the salvation of mankind.

That was C. S. Lewis’ question. It was answered for him by J. R. R. Tolkien who observed that all dying and rising again god myths are echoes of the one real resurrection event (Jesus’ resurrection), reverberating through time. From the earliest time, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and fell from grace, God promised a descendant of Eve’s would defeat Satan and the evil he had brought into the world. Jesus was that descendant, who was not a mythological character but a real man who was born, lived, died and rose from the dead.

We believe Jesus rose from the dead because he appeared to many people after his resurrection, being seen by them for 40 days after his resurrection until he ascended into heaven. His ascension was also witnessed by many people. We believe their testimony until this day. Our faith isn’t blind but based in real historical events.

It’s not the correct faith. It’s riddled with traditions of men, which Jesus warned against. Sprinkling, The Pope and original sin, just to name a few. Even the reason for baptism is wrong. Most of the problems can easily be proven wrong, it’s just a matter of the person being willing to accept their own faults.

Welcome to the forums Sooner, you bring up several objections.

In the interest of Christian charity why don’t you pick one that you object to. If there are some valid answers then maybe there is something wrong with the objections.

Many times we have people come to these forums with all sorts of objections not looking for any response, but are just here to preach. I can assure you that it is much more fruitful to try and understand the actual belief system before you object so you can honestly state that you disagree.

Again welcome to the forums,
God Bless

If you would rather not just PM me and I will be happy to talk to you about the Pope, Indulgences, Confession, Bishops, the Bible or any part of the Catholic faith and explain why it all is useful and necessary as Christians to understand.

While I think this post should be in a different thread, please explain what paul meant when he said, “Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.” (2 Thess. 2:15)

Hmmhh…Welcome to the boards! It seems you have quite a few issues with Catholicism, and this is certainly one of the best places to have your questions answered.

God bless!

Let me show you all. You claim that the Bible is the (name removed by moderator)ired word of God and you live you lives by its contents, right? Now show me anywhere it says anything about a pope. Show me where is says anything about sprinkling instead of immersion. The Greek word for baptism, baptizo, means to be submurged or consumed.

Not to drag this off topic, but my assumption is that you believe baptism is a purely symbolic act, which testifies to one’s personal commitment to follow Christ? If so, from your point of view, why is the method important?

Umm, it’s not just Catholics who say “God is real”. Jews, Muslims, Protestants and Eastern Orthodox come to mind…

As to “completely” ignoring the thousands of other religious out there, you are sunk by your own hyperbole. But, ignoring that, what do you propose the Church does regarding the thousands of other religions out there?

Let me turn your question around. What is the truly correct religion? And why?

The problem I have is infant baptism. Catholicism claims that it’s original sin that condemns everyone including babies. If I’m wrong, please correct me so I can restate my case.

thanks for anwering my question.
Mt. 16:16-19 will explain the Papacy and Primacy of Peter. Who says we must baptize in water in the first place? We are, however, immersed in the Holy Spirit if that's what you mean.

If you’re going to use any scriptres that use the term household to say that this includes children, then you know little about the society of the day. In those times only ppl of a responsible age (aka, accountability) were included in the term “household”

Ok… You realize you are throwing out a couple objections here and if I answer just one that means that you have to admit that your faith tradition has an objection that is not valid as there is an answer. This means that those objections might need to be reconsidered…

Ok here we go…

The word Pope is a nice way of saying Father.

Since Saint Paul identified himself as becoming a Father in Christ in the first letter of the Corinthians
“I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel” (1 Cor. 4:14–15).

Now as the Church is a family as Peter is identified with the disciples as bretheren, or brothers in the first chapter of Acts we imitate the Bible and Christ as identifying each other as part of a worldwide family with brothers, sisters mothers and fathers just like the Bible says.
The pope is part of our family and as illustrated in the Holy Bible we call him (papa)father as part of our human family here on earth.

Would you like me to answer the baptizo objection. I would be happy to after dinner.

In Christ
Scylla
