First of all, please note that all of Christianity prohibited contraception until the Anglican Church accepted this in 1930. As is what seems to be the norm, many other Protestant affiliations followed suit.
Artificial contraception does not allow for the intended purpose of our gift of sexuality. We become “God” in a sense if we barrier what He intends. Biblical accounts as well as 2000 years of Church teaching has always held that our sexuality was not just intended for our source of pleasure. If it was then why not allow homosexual behavior as well as many other deviated sexual encounters?
The Church is the incarnate Body of Christ guided by the Holy Spirit. The Church is how Christ is present to us today. God said to Adam and Eve “Be fruitful and multiply”. Jesus Christ would align His will with the Father being that they are of one Divine will. I can hardly see Jesus instructing one to contracept. He said, “Let the children come to me”. And His Church is no less than Himself.
It seems that without using our resources and just merely accepting contemporary thought we can always find fault with what the Church teaches. But it is when we investigate the truth that we find that had we existed for the first 1900 years after Christ it would have been unheard of to contracept. And also note that contraception was around for many centuries. Maybe not in the pill form but there were many other ways that were used.
I hope that this helps and I’m sure that many other posters will add to my thoughts…God Bless…teachccd
