Agreed. But that is late. I agree that the Jews came to believe in a positive ending place for the dead, but that only came late as did there belief in Resurrection. Earlier, belief in Sheol was more common, which always seemed to me to be sort of comparable to Hades, a dim place of forgetfulness and sleep.

Better late than never - especially considering that it was before Jesus was born!

I think I was just frustrating Simon. I was just having a bit o’ fun at his expense, I do admit.

But I am ready to talk straight and not mess with him. (It was just soooo easy! )

When someone comes to a Catholic forum but is ignorant of Catholic teaching, it does make this someone an easy mark.

One ought to at least have some idea of what Catholicism proclaims (and the Bible**), if one is going to be in dialogue here.

**NB: Genesis NEVER states that Noah went to hell, despite claims to the contrary.

Replace the word “faith” with “trust”. Now if you understand that Catholicism (indeed all of Christianity) is about a relationship with God, you can see how important faith is in that relationship. We know that all of our best relationships with other people are absolutely based on trust.
