Why is intinction of the Eucharist discouraged if it is a traditional practice?

Aren’t concelebrants allowed to pass the Eucharist around amongst themselves?
No expert here, but the Apostles certainly concelebrated at the first mass. But, all hands are consecrated when concelebrants are involved. The danger in self-intinction is that, as in so many other things, the laity attempts to assume a role that is not ours. As well, it opens communion to the ego, in the taking rather than receiving. Communion, as with all of God’s gifts, is to be received and not taken.
