Because they’re friends of God.
Their dignity and honor are a reflection of God’s work in them, and their cooperation with His work.
Honoring them doesn’t take away anything from God.
When you come into the home of someone and you greet their children, does that take away anything from the parents in the home?
Of course not.
In fact the mother and father might be saddened if you didn’t acknowledge their children.
God is Our Father and we need to really start putting that into practice in our lives. It’s such a clarifying and simplifying and uplifting idea…God is my Father, my loving and infinitely good Father!
It’s called “contemplation of our Divine Filiation.”
