The OP, indeed any one of us, ALWAYS has a choice. If the choice is between Catholicism and Masonry, and the OP decides that being a mason is more important than being a Catholic, THAT is the choice, HIS choice. It would not be my choice. How “nice” the people are in any organization or group are is really not the issue, though I understand in this society which is largely geared toward “acceptance above all” and “I’m OK, you’re OK” that many WOULD find themselves judging a group by ‘appearances’. It’s how they judge everything else, after all, and how they’ve been conditioned, taught, shaped and encouraged practically since birth. It is very hard to ‘buck the system’ and believe me I’m not saying that I am immune to this tendency myself–I really have to fight to keep my eyes on GOD and not MAN. I’ll pray for all facing these situations.
