Why is it that Protestants question everything?

Why is it that Protestants question everything, even if it is right in front of them. I notice that when they are put on the spot, it is always “Oh really?, explain that? Etc…” Why can’t they just discuss things instead of constantly questioning them? Catholics don’t do this. They have the answers.
 
Well then you just answered your own question. They don’t have the answers and you do. 🙂
 
Can you not find the answer in the very word “protestant”? It is a theology which defines itself in opposition to something, be it the Catholic Church, scientific inquiry or modernity. To cease to question everything is to cease to be Protestant.

Because my experience is that Catholics don’t want to back up anything with facts. Instead they say “Prove what I say happened, didn’t happen.”

Geez it’s really tough to prove anything about a non existent event.

“Can you prove that my great, great, great, great grandma didn’t win the little polish girl race in Wisconsin in the 1700’s. I don’t have to prove such a race happened. YOU are the one denying my gggg grandma won the race, so the responsibility of proof is in your lap..”

Um, actually, it was a Protestant turned Catholic named John Henry Newman who said :
“TO BE DEEP IN HISTORY, IS TO CEASE TO BE PROTESTANT”. 🙂

How does one get deep into history without asking questions?

(points to her siggy) There is always more to know about. NO matter how much you dig you always have a chance to know more.

I honestly think you are working very hard now to dig up stuff to complain about against protestants. The fact we questiona nd study should count FOR us not against.

Obviously, lots of Catholics ask questions too. Otherwise these forums would not have the Ask an Apologist section. We cannot learn unless we ask questions. This applies to people of any religion.

I do not know but so the the Jewish Rabbi’s during the time of Christ.

And that is the whole crux of the matter. It’s the intent behind the questions that count. If the questions are to go forward then you are advancing your knowledge. If they are to hurt others then you are using it with a false purpose.

Asking questions of others to learn or arguing facts as you believe with others can only strengthen your understandings.
I read these discussions to learn and when folks question to learn I have no problem with it.
 
The asking questions to hurt happens on both sides in this forum.

I have seen it is the way some people just seem to like to do things. They purposely bait and then someone will answer vehemently and it will look like a raging argument…but not really be so. Then again, maybe it is.

“Protestants” question things. Catholics question things. Both do so to advance knowledge. Both do so to hurt as well.
