It is wrong to love Mary…ONLY…if we love her more than Jesus!

Anywho…I am not familiar with that left and right thing. I will have to do some research (Thanks!)

When people talk about statue worship…I would like to point out how we have statues of our past Presidents…I know (well…hope) nobody worships them.

notsmart:
Imagine living a saintly life and dying a martyrs death and in your honor, as someone who lived completely for Christ and even died for your faith in Him, the faithful you left behind made a statue of you. Not because they want to worship you, but because they want to be reminded that a real person actually does live their life for Christ. Your statue would be an in-your-face reminder that “someone else did it…so we better too!”

Heck, you might even have a church named after you.

Though…the “St. notsmart Catholic Church” would probably not be the best of names…LoL!!!
You are right, St. notsmart Catholic Church" would be rather odd.
My real name is Monica, and I think there already are some St. Monica’s around, and that only makes me feel bad in a way to have that name because its a lot of pressure.

From what I have been reading it seems to me, that its a problem related to what some define as an Idol. An idol, is a image of a god, and from what I can tell- the Catholic Church does not call Mary a god, so that’s out.
Some will say, well waita minute- Jesus is God! We have images of him!
But, that is entirely different. Jesus is God who came in the flesh to man.
The idols mentioned in the bible, were of the “gods” who never came down to man- let alone became flesh, died and rose agian.

Sorry to reply to my own last post, but I missed edit mode and wanted to give us all reading this thread a song to sing:

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

Mc Cartney/Lennon
God be with them both

Let it be,** God’s will**- not mine

I hope I can do this Mary. I dont know if I can. Help me. You did help so many. You were there for so many things Jesus had to do in life.
How can I? Simply follow your Son? 🤷

I am just me.

That was beautiful!!!

The song will never be the same for me again!

The second verse…never have I thought of paralleling it with Christianity before…WoW!

When you said “Let it be, God’s will - not mine”:
That sent chills down my spine!
Mom,
Please have Jesus help her do what she needs to do. Mary, through your prayers and the Mercy of Jesus and the grace of the Trinity lead her to follow God’s will!

I would not define ‘idols’ as ‘images of a god’.
I would define an ‘idol’ as something worshipped instead of God, whether it be a statue, a head of lettuce, money, fame, or sex.
The key here is worship.

We have statues of Jesus, but we do not worship the statue. So the statue is not an idol, it’s merely an image.
Likewise, a statue of Mary or some other saint is not an idol, because nobody actually worships the statue.

Its not wrong to love Mary. Imagine a Mother having to face her Son put to His death. She gave birth to Him. Yet, she courageously accepted His will and even obeyed His commands when He told her, “Woman, behold your son!”.

She tolerated how His enemies treated Him. She has so much respect for Him and people wonder why Catholics revere Mary as one of the Church’s greatest saints. If you’re not Catholic, you won’t know what a Mother’s pain is like.

Luke 2:34-35
34 and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted 35 (and you yourself a sword will pierce) 11 so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

“so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
