Why is it wrong to love Mary?

Well, I believe that some get carried away with their worship and may honestly believe that they are pleasing God.

I can’t judge them. But I love their fervor.

I’ve seen other examples that I have no doubt are works of evil (Have you seen “jesus Camp”?).

However, the video was to take the edge off of the conversation.

Some were going off topic, so I submitted a funny video to take everyone who was off -opic off of their off-topic!

😃

But we can get “back” on-topic now!

Obviously, you don’t think it’s wrong to love Mary, right?

I love her!

And Jesus loves that about me that I love her so greatly despite all my faults.

👍
Of course I love Mary, deeply devouted to her, having wonderful experiences meditating and praying rosary, know Mary and you know Jesus, she leads us to him

I love Mary, the mother of my Lord.

Too late. You already posted off topic comments.

You had to be asked several times.

Nice try though.

So you don’t think it’s wrong to love her then?
I love her soooo much I wouldn’t post videos of unbelievers laughing at those praising her son. Even if it did not match how I worship and praise him.

Well, Amen to that!

I’ll co-sign to that statement anyday!

Linda Marie;3225756]justasking4, you have changed the subject, diverted the thread off topic and basically done everything but answer the question -
Do you love Mary and if you don’t, why is it wrong to love her?
The only thing i’m aware of in Scripture along these lines is to acknowledge that Mary was blessed because she was the mother of Christ. I’m not aware of any command to love her.
Do you know of any command or exhortation in Scripture in which we are to love Mary?
You trot out opinions that say she is not the Woman of Revelations - how does this apply to not loving Mary? Even if you think she is not the Queen of Heaven, how does it change that fact that Mary is the mother of Jesus?
When discussing Mary and the marian dogmas its quite easy to get into other discussions about these things. Mary is not the queen of heaven but was the mother of Jesus.
The commandments which Jesus left us with say:
  1. Love God with all your heart, all your mind and all your strength
  2. Love your neighbour as yourself.
Since it is generally interpreted throughout Christendom that neighbour means everyone, how does Mary not belong to the set of people to be loved?
If you look at the context of these commands it is in the context for those who are alive in this world. There is no teaching in Scripture that i’m aware of that we are to love those who have died and no longer have a part in this world.
If you are expected to love the deadbeat wino living in a cardboard box behind a dumpster, how is it that you think you are not to love Mary?
See my previous responses. In regards to loving Mary that would involve some kind of relationship. There is no such relationship that Scripture exhorts us to have with her.
If you have family members who have died, have you ceased to love them?
I may have feelings for them but that does not mean i still have a relationship with them. The only spiritual relationship i have now is with Christ.
Do you consider Jesus to be your brother?
In a sense yes. Those who do the will of God are His brothers etc.
Even if you consider Mary to be dead and awaiting Resurrection, how does that stop you from loving the mother of your Saviour?
Again it gets back to relationship. Once a person has died they no longer have any relationship with the living here.

I have a question: who can stop discussion when it gets off the topic?
Where is Jimmy B who started it…where did we get so far?
You asked the wrong guy.

If you read his posts throughout this thread, none are topic related.

Moderators can be called in, but their very careful about interrupting in conversations here. Their very fair about that.

All threads that go beyond 10 posts pretty much go off track. It’s inevitable when someone gets cornered and needs a way to move the attention from themselves.

Such is the nature of the threads.

🙂

Maybe in your smiley filled world I was cornered. But it was you who claimed I made an off-topic post in another thread when that was not my intention. You assumed I was trying to derail a thread.

Here are some words of wisdom from another poster here on “assuming”—
"And how do you now that they weren’t Christians who were laughing at the people on the TV?"

Oh wait, that was you!

You can come out of the corner now. I want you to write on the blackboard a 100 times------
"What does foul-language videos showing people making fun of Christians worshipping have to do with a topic thread entitled-‘Why is it wrong to love Mary?’ ". 😉

What does that post have to do with a topic thread entitled-“Why is it wrong to LOVE Mary.”

(Not “honor” Mary)

You’re on the wrong thread there. 👍

(When the “correcter” is incorrect…sometimes, the stones riccochet and hit you sqaure between the eyes! :ouch: )

And you’re continuing to keep this going “off-topic” and not responding directly to the topic or posting the number of the post where you did.

(Something the Moderators will see when they consider the “source” of the complaint)

Corrected it. Thanks

Well my intentions are that I hope they remove your post with the links to those foul-mouthed videos so youngsters don’t have to come to CAF and be exposed to that garbage.

You’re correct about the curses.

I didn’t notice them because I was laughing so hard.

I love that video. Like I said, my family is like that.

I get a kick out of it to see someone having so much fun worshipping that way.

I don’t laugh “at” them.

😉

There is nothing wrong in loving Mary, of course. What Protestants object to is the way in which she seems to be worshiped. And certain doctrines that were proclaimed in the modern era - Immaculate Conception, 1854, Assumption, 1950. When I watch the Rosary on EWTN, for example, the “Hail Mary” dominates, far outnumbering the “Our Father” given us by Christ. That strikes me as being far out of proportion.

One other troubling doctrine - that Mary was a perpetual virgin. Scripture suggests that Jesus had siblings. Why is that such a forbidden idea in Catholicism? What is wrong about Mary and her husband living as other married couples, enjoying physical union, such a wonderful gift of God. Read Matt. 1:18. This suggests to me that later they shared in the intimacies of normal and God-ordained married life.
Hi, Roy5,

The words found in the “Hail Mary” prayer are taken almost, word for word, from the Gospels and the Rosary itself is the prayer of the Gospels, with our focus being totally and completely on Jesus. If one does not appreciate the Holy Rosary, either it is because they are not familiar with what it actually is (or represents), or he does not like the Gospels (not you personally). To pray the Rosary, is to pray the Gospels and to reflect (meditate) on Jesus Christ and on important aspects of Christ’s life as described in the Gospel’s. The Rosary is a powerful prayer. I hope this helps.👍

Take care,
Jimmy

Can someone show me from Scripture where:
1- Jesus commanded anyone to love His mother?

2- Did any of the apostles in their writings command or teach Christians to love Mary?

I think my “Hail Mary” might be in order here.

Do I have thou permission Brother Jimmy?

Jesus commanded us to love our neighbor. How can you exclude Mary from this group, as Jesus defined who our neighbor was?

Who am I kidding?

Of course you’ll let me my brother in Mary!
("brother in Mary’? Anti-Marian Lovers’ heads exploded like the movie Scanners! :banghead: )

==============================================

Hail [Mary] full of grace,
The Lord is with thee,
Blessed art thou amongst women,
And Blessed is the fruit of they womb, [Jesus].
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death,
Amen.

==================================================

Hail [Mary] full of grace,
The Lord is with thee,

Luke 1:28
And the angel being come in, said unto her:
“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”

Blessed art thou amongst women,
And Blessed is the fruit of they womb, [Jesus].

Luke 1:42
And she cried out with a loud voice, and said;
“Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.”

Holy Mary,

Luke 1:46
“And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord.”

Mother of God,

Luke 1:43
“And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”

Pray for us sinners,

1 Timothy 2:1-4
“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be
saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

Now and at the hour of our death,

Luke 8:41-42
And a man whose name was Jairus, head of the synagogue, fell at the feet of Jesus, and begged him to go to his house. For he had an old child girl, of about the age of twelve, and she was near death. And as Jesus went with him, a great crowd pressed him.

Amen.

So be it.

But hey, why not re-post it. It’s good if I do say so myself.
Do you know of any command or exhortation in Scripture in which we are to love Mary?
Do you know any command or exhortation in Scripture in which states that we are to “not” love Mary?

John 13:34-35
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

How did He love Mary?

As a mother.

Jesus exhaulted His mother by telling us to keep The Commandments (honor thy mother) and Mary is our Mother.

Revelations 12:17
Quote:
Mary is not the queen of heaven but was the mother of Jesus.
Only a “Queen” can give birth to The King of Kings.
Quote:
If you look at the context of these commands it is in the context for those who are alive in this world. There is no teaching in Scripture that i’m aware of that we are to love those who have died and no longer have a part in this world.
Oh, so now, “some” of Jesus’ teachings end the moment they died? How do you decide?
Quote:
Again it gets back to relationship. Once a person has died they no longer have any relationship with the living here.
Do you know of any command or exhortation in Scripture in which we are to no longer have any relationship with the living once we die?

If so, for who are The Saints in Heaven praying for?

I am glad you asked!
43 "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,45 that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.46 For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? (Matthew (NAB) 5)

19 honor your father and your mother’; and ‘you shall love your neighbor as yourself.’"20 (Matthew (NAB) 19)

37 He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.39 The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew (NAB) 22)

30 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.'31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these."32 The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher. You are right in saying, 'He is One and there is no other than he.'33 And ‘to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself’ is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” (Mark (NAB) 12)

27 "But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, (Luke (NAB) 6)

32 For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. (Luke (NAB) 6)

35 But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.36 Be merciful, just as (also) your Father is merciful. (Luke (NAB) 6)

34 I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.
35 This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John (NAB) 13)

12 This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. (John (NAB) 15)

26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” (John (NAB) 19)

**Now, I have provided you (in post # 298) a few verses from the Gospels where we are instructed to love one another, including Mary, (be sure to read the last verse provided in post # 298). **

**Now can you show me where it states in the bible, that we can’t love Mary? **

**By the way, have you figured out how you are going to explain to Jesus, how it was ok for you to bad mouth is mother, the way you have? **

**Are you a Christian? If you are a Christian, how did you miss this message from our Lord? **
