Well, pork has nothing to do with the Sabbath; and this coming from someone who keeps preaching “the new covenant.” Why would it even matter to you all of a sudden here what happened in the OT on this issue? Do I smell a false pretense to groom us into dismissing other “laws” of the Bible, such as the fourth commandment?

I would be interested to see what YOU mean when you say “law of Moses?” First, what is the law of Moses? Is it The Ten Commandments?
Again, no. And why are you here instead of answering questions on your own thread?

I see you removed the Miller quote. Why?

SDA’s are not anti-catholic and I do not lie.

Your first quote isn’t anti-catholic and you failed to note the source and page.

If SDA’s were anti-catholic then why would pastors preach that there will be more Catholics in heaven than SDA’s?
DJ:

SDAs teach that the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon. That is anti-catholic.

SDAs teach that the Pope is the anti-Christ.
That is anti-catholic.

SDAs perpetuate the Maria Monk hoax.
That is anti-catholic.

SDAs teach that in the last days, the Catholic Church (whore of Babylon) and her protestant daughters will persecute the SDAs.
That is anti-catholic.

So, yes, the SDA denomination is anti-catholic. Many on this thread believe you to be SDA, which is why they say you are anti-catholic. On the other hand, if you persist in defending an anti-catholic entity which you are not a member of, perhaps you are also anti-catholic.

Marsha

This is quite shocking to hear since we are a congregational church (the GC CANNOT dictate to us what we will do or not do). And they certainly cannot tell us what to do on our own property.
If the SDA denomination is congregational, why do their tithes go the Conference? Why does the conference pay the pastor’s salary?

Hold the phone! First, the comparison is not in the Mosaic Law and God’s Law, it was the Mosaic Law and the Ten Commandments. There IS a very distinct difference in these two.

The Sabath was NOT in the Mosaic law, but the Ten Commandments. Mosaic law was a form of civil law, not Holy Law if you will.
Happily Catholic…

In Adventist literature, the 10 Commandments are the law of God, the Mosaic law is the ceremonial laws, therefore it is a conversation about the Mosaic law and the Law of God when dealing with Adventism.

Second, you say that there is a huge difference between these two… The only difference is in their mode of delivery, not in their source, authority, or authorship, your position is indefensible from scripture. The Jews and scripture only speak of one LAW… the Law of God. The book and tablets together were one law, the Mitzvah, the 613 commands of God given in the Torah.

The Ten Commandments are binding as moral teachings on us… but not strictly as a law. If they are, then you must keep the Seventh-Day Sabbath, there is no way around it.

Furthermore, the Sabbath is implicitly and explicitly taught in what you would term the mosaic law.

Look here and you will find that Christianity considers the Ten Commandments as PART of the Mosaic law…

Adventists have redefined this to mean the laws other than the 10 Commandments.

But the Catholic Church is very anti-Adventist. What do you expect? We are like night and day in many respects; but I was glad to see that you recognized that this “anti” thing does not equate with “hatred.” We are making some kind of progress, I believe. 🙂

Hi 101, 👋
We missed you and came looking for you. How are you? The family?
Please, remember not to spread lies, 101. The SDA thinks us Catholics are children of the devil. You hate us. We rather, reach out in friendship to you.
Of course we are cautious when dealing with you, knowing that you really hate us and only pretend to be friendly.
As real followers of Jesus, our friendship is sincere. You say:** “We are like night and day in many respects;” ** That is true we are in the light, the presence of God, and you are in the dark, the relm of the devil! Your every action is controlled by the evil one through the teaching of a false prophet and religion. We realize that many SDA members are really good, loving people being lead to eternal damnation by your hatred and rejection of the real church and its teachings. You say: ** but I was glad to see that you recognized that this “anti” thing does not equate with “hatred.” We are making some kind of progress, I believe.** I say to SDA2RC ~ A very wise man once said: “Basically. the SDA Church could cease to exist and the RCC would not be affected, because it is founded on Christ through Peter. However, if the RCC ceased to exist, the entire belief structure of the SDA Church would fail. This was quite a realization for me as an Adventist.” 👍 Does 101 Know? **

If the SDA denomination is congregational, why do their tithes go the Conference? Why does the conference pay the pastor’s salary?
Your right Marsha, (btw… HI!!!) the SDA Church ius not congregational, the congregations are neither autonomous nor independent. The Pastors etc. are employed by the local conference not the local church.

Who would have said a crazy thing like that… Very wise man indeed… LOL ROTFL

I don’t follow all of your post here…

My definition of the LAw of Moses or Mosaic laws are the Laws of God given through Moses starting with the 10 Commandments.

This is a pretty commonly accepted definition.

Pork and the SAbbath were both part of the same law… they are related. 😉

Hey, Brandon!

Good to see you again. Actually, I’m glad you’re here, maybe you should stop by another thread, ‘How Are “SDAs” Not In Harmony With The Apostles?’ at the following link.

Prot101 finds it difficult to accept me as an expert on all things Adventist. Perhaps she will recognize your expertise, since you are a much better apologist than I am.

34 year 4th Degree, GK here!. I can tell wisdom when I read it. 101 doesn’t realize I am a speed reader. I have actually read all SDA documents and all threads that he has been on and all his postings. he is like a snake, of course.😃 But he actually is a nice guy. If we can get him into the water we might give him swimming lessons also. The tiber is a greaty river to swim so I have been told!

**Although SDA Churches are governed by a church board formed by members of that church, with the pastor of that congregation. Church property is owned by the conference corporation though, and the pastor works for the local con ference these both differs from normal congregational policies.

Just another example of “They don’t know what they are!” 😃 **

I am curious why sunday rather than saturday is considered the sabboth. My girlfriend believes people celebrate the sabboth in error and that it really should be friday night to saturday night like it was in old testament.

the only biblical evidence I can find is:

This is really very little if any evidence justifying sunday as being the sabboth. This just alludes to them breaking bread on sunday and to lay something aside. It really doesn’t tell us to change the sabboth day from saturday to sunday anywhere and does not make this clear at all.

Maybe the disciples kept the sabboth but in addition did this on sunday as well?
Sabbath is the word for Saturday. Sunday, the day Jesus was Resurrected, is the Lord’s Day.

It was on the Lord’s Day that the Apostles taught the people to worship through Divine Liturgy. This has been handed down through the last 2,000. years of Orthodox Church History (and even Catholic Church History) (And Even through Protestant Church History for the last 500 years since their first founding).

If your girlfriend prefers to worship on Saturday - from Friday night to Saturday - this would make her a Jew, not a Christian (perhaps a Muslim) but definately not a Christian. I would recommend that you get a new girlfriend - one that is a practicing Christian, as Christians are not to be unequally yoked.

By the way, “Breaking the Bread” refers to the Holy Eucharist which is at the center of Divine Liturgy - celebrated when? On the Lord’s Day - Sunday. The day for Christian Worship. Sometimes there are Feast Days which occur through out the week and Divine Liturgy is celebrated then as well.

Orthodox Christians still celebrate public prayer liturgy - Great Vespers on Saturday Night in preparation for Divine Liturgy.

Not so…we just know what you people have written and preached about our most holy faith.

Remember that I have read EGW’s “The Great Controversy”, so no one can tell me that you guys aren’t a-Cs.

As for Catholics and the Church, I think you’ll find that when you fall silent about our faith that we’ll have very little to say about you as well. Y’see, unlike yours, our pastors don’t get up in the pulpits and run down anyone else’s religion, nor do they publish vitriolic polemics and misinformation about them.

I won’t hold my breath though…:knight1:

Actually, the unclean meat was not about health at all. It was part of an entire instruction “manual” if you will on keeping oneself pure. So it was a matter of purity. That indeed was from Mosaic Law.
There is nothing about pork or shell fish, etc. that make one “impure.”

Whether a pastor has said there were going to be more Catholics than Adventists in heaven or not is not the issue. Not to mention that unless the Pastor is all knowing, he has no clue as to who is living up to what “light” they have. God judges the hearts of Man… not your pastors.
I never said that the pastor was all-knowing–your “point” is pointless. It was simply an example of how SDA’s are not anti-catholic–if they were, no pastor (and there has been more than one) would have said such a thing.

Please show me a reference in scripture that teaches that the Antediluvian followers of God abstained from pork?
Nope. Can you show me where it says they wore underwear, where they washed their hands after going, where the words “trinity” and “monogamy” are used in Scripture?

The Bible says that only two of every unclean animal was taken into the Ark at the time of the Flood–every Bible student knows that (and the above).

I’m not against eating portk or shell fish - but are both of those creatures the kind that eat anything in their path - other animals feces and their own young, etc.

That does make eating them kind of discusting - yet I do love shrimp and peporoni! 😊 (not together of course)
