Why is the internet so Anti Catholic?

People feel they can be openly bigoted on the Internet because they are anonymous.

For example, if you go on a rosary video on YouTube, there are so many comments by Protestants who are trying to “expose” the Catholic Church.
If you post something on youtube, people are going to comment. There are plenty of people out without any appreciation for the rosary , you shouldn’t be offended by it. They would still have the same negativity if they didn’t comment. We all don’t agree on everything

However there are some people who are trolling and do go over the top in their remarks. When I got my first internet access over 20 years ago, Gateway sent be a brochure on “Netiquette”, but I guess a lot of people born since then didn’t get the word on politeness.

i wouldn’t recommend debating Christianity on facebook or in youtube comment sections. Nobody uses bra(name removed by moderator)ower on facebook, and youtube comment sections are the closest you can get to virtual cancer.

I’m also not sure that the internet is anti-catholic, it’s more anti-everyone-and-everything. The very religious tend to have a thinner skin when it comes to trolling and criticism, possibly because they don’t really have the stress release of calling the other person a racial slur or a f***** if they get too annoyed

I have no hard evidence to back up the following assertion, merely a gut feeling, but I’ve an idea that the people who are constantly commenting on the Internet are a rather small minority. You can see it on any website you like: the number of members who actually post and comment is always vastly less than the total number of members in general. From this, I deduce that the silent ‘lurkers’ always far outnumber the vociferous ‘commenters’. It perhaps just seems that the anti-Catholic element is larger than it really is. I wouldn’t get too het up over it. After all, the outside world is rather anti-Catholic, generally speaking. If we do not chafe somewhat against the judgments of the world, we are not living our Christian faith to its full potential.
