I guess it depends on if the changes almost make it into a completely different religion.

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first” John 15

The internet, like here at Contrary Answers Forums, is a crowd of people, and they are likely to shout out almost anything.

I recall something that Catholic apologist Trent Horn once said in reference to this question.

There is no statistical basis for this but Catholics simply tend to have more families. Thus they have more obligations and they put their focus elsewhere rather than commenting on the internet. One could also think that people will Christian values will less likely feel the need to launch verbal attacks or spend their time trying to discredit others.

On the flip side, people who are anti-Catholic or atheist tend to be single young men. As a result, they have more time to spend surfing the web. Often they are looking for something to justify their views in an attempt to make sense of their injustice or a personal wound to their soul. It’s satisfying for them to accuse and badger religion or God under the guise of anonymity. There is also a large community of people who welcome them with open arms since it’s easy to believe in nothing.

I have come across what troubles you on the internet @Frend .

I am thankful that it does not reflect the people I meet in life outside of the internet .

What concerns me more though is how Catholics on Catholic forums can be anti each other .

Also, how do I defend the Inquisition?
The Inquisition can be explained , however. The event was highly exaggerated by our English fore bearers who were rivals with the Spanish for a hundred years and had several historical run-ins with the Catholic Church and Spanish state which cause antagonism and a need for the English to paint Spain and the Catholic Church in the darkest tone available. The reign of Mary Tudor, the excommunication of Elizabeth I,the Spanish Armada, the Gunpowder Plot, and the Glorious Revolution led to a lot of enmity, especially among we English speaking people.

In my experience, the internet is pro and anti everything. No matter what you believe about anything there will be folks who make it their mission to disagree with you, comment, post, troll, declaim, decry, criticize and annoy you.

No matter what faith or lack of faith, no matter what sport, no matter what hobby or interest. I’ve been attacked on aquarium sites over the type of fish food I use. And I’m talking about serious angry dressing downs, personal insults, being told I shouldn’t be allowed to own fish if I’m going to subject them to such lousy food, it’s people like me who are what’s wrong with the world…over fish food.

Just do your thing and carry on with positivity, imagine being someone with nothing better to do than try to tear people down over everything.

You direct them to the authoritative books and documents which show up the misinformation that is presented as "The Inquisition’.

Why not? The fact is, all sorts of tall tales and lies have been spread about ‘the Inquisition’. Pointing out the TRUTH is not ‘defending’, but allowing the lies to be presented as truth would be sinful, when we know better.

It’s not just the Internet. The entire world is anti-Catholic because the Catholic Church is a huge, visible, wealthy-appearing target with a checkered past.

The Catholilc Church gets attacked by non-religious people who object to religion in general.

The Catholic Church gets attacked by people who don’t like what it did or didn’t do on some issue or anoher ranging from Donald Trump to feeding the poor to historic stuff like the Inquisition and the Crusades.

The Catholic Church gets attacked by former Catholics who have some gripe about the Church because they personally had some bad experience, or had some doubts, or don’t like that the Church has rules and doesn’t just let them do what they want and say it’s okay because Jesus loves you.

The Catholic Church gets attacked by Protestants who are trying to justify their own flawed and incomplete belief systems.

The Catholic Church gets attacked by non-Christians who believe their own religion is better or is the true religion.

The Catholic Church gets attacked by the Orthodox Church who have some difference with it over teaching or over the Pope or whatever.

It’s just life. I really don’t care who says what as long as I can keep being a Catholic and receiving and adoring Jesus in the Real Presence and being devoted to Mary and the saints.

By the way, you are not expected to defend the Inquisition or other historic stuff, unless you have just written a scholarly book or a PhD thesis on the matter and are defending your scholarly position.
The Church has made mistakes in the past, sometimes bad mistakes. It’s run by humans, and humans sin and mess up. God protects his Church even when it’s on the verge of collapse due to human errors.

Pedophilia, anti-women’s rights, anti-LGBT; but fortunately there are many Catholics that live in the 21st century.

yes!!! There´s nothing more annoying than people “fighting” for any historical “truth” on the internet when they got all their information out of some popular books with a little self study. I mean, if this was true, I could have skipped some rather lengthy and work intensive nights with me, coffee and some documents that seem unwillingly to get transcriped in my history study

People such as teens and the unemployed with nothing to do get to set themselves up as some brave warriors for truth and justice on the Internet. And argue, and argue, and argue…

It would be funny if it weren’t so sad, as they daily fight the Battle of Who Could Care Less (as the Ben Folds Five sang).

Because for whatever reason, people seem to prefer to spend their time talking about what they are against, rather than what they love. I recently saw a post on facebook that basically said if people would challenge themselves to post ten positive things for every negative thing they posted the world would be a much different place.

We struggle against the ego and feeling hurt when our prized opinions are rejected or derided. To quote one of the most quotable (soon to be) “Saints” in history:
“Pride is the child of ignorance, humility the offspring of knowledge.”

It is easy to find anti-Catholic sentiment if you look for it. Don’t look for it.

There is so much that I have to learn about Catholicism that I don’t have time to waste on protestant or atheist drivel. On other sources of information and opinion, If I see an agenda, I typically stop reading.

My goal is to grow closer to God, and getting caught up in anger and bigotry does not help with that goal.

It makes me question why I come to this site. The old site had so much information that one could absorb. It had brilliant minds. Most of those people are gone. Today’s site is just bickering between orthodox Catholics and Relativist social justice warriors and atheists. It isn’t very productive in the big scheme of things.
