Also a year ago, a son of a Hamas leader left Islam…He said no matter how it looks on the outside, on the inside within 10 years militant Islam will implode within itself.

Those who reap doing wrong eventually have it backfire on themselves.

What you say here is basically what the Apostle John had meant in the Book of the Revelation to his fellow Christians in a time of persecution…
There are “intelligent” people in many faiths, aren’t there? And God can guide the simple, so intelligence per se is not what guarantees you that you are following the One True God.
And a fool who knows he is a fool is not as foolish as he may seem.
 
Saint Paul warns us against acting as though we thought we are somebody (more intelligent and more important than the rest of the people). Rightly so, for then we would tend to say things quite foolish and act foolishly, wouldn’t we!
 
So you do want to be wise, but not at the expense of others, rather truly for their benefit and your own… To declare we’re doing just that would not be enough. Just let us do it…

You name it, he’s done it…and all of it excused!..either by claiming him to be mere human, calling him ‘anointed and therefore excused’, saying he killed in accordance to the practices of his time, he had sex with the infant because he had already managed to make her his infant wife etc etc.

The only sin that needs no repentance is the justified sin (if you don’t even recognise your sin you remain forever in your sin) and the biggest challenge Satan can pose to God is to appoint a prophet to commit all the shames under the sun and yet get EXCUSED for all of it. The Justified Sinner. Its APOSTASY.

Hey, Mosacked! Reading you here, you sound quite like a lady who used to send plenty of information against Islam a year or two ago. Not Booklover, but another one, I have forgotten the name she used to use… Are you her, by any chance?

You scare me. I am a native NW’er. We have many, many people of diversity who live in my former region…

I have found out that you are an American…how did you grow up to have such sentiments and feelings? I am an old woman but I have not experienced any native speaking to people or having a mindset like yours.

My former region is known for its native compassion for other people. I found that out living in another that has a history of bigotry, its pioneer leader telling people of color to move to the Puget Sound area because the people were known for its kindness.

I don’t know exactly what part you live in, but it is so foreign and not representative of us…

It is your brand of Islam. We hear how so many people of Islam hate us because we are not Muslims. I know Muslims now and they do not have your attitude.

Islam frightens me very much and it denies the reality of the truths of my religion.

What would this world be like if the Catholic Church never came into existence?
 
May the Lord uphold and defend His people from all harm from those who wish to overcome us and destroy the true faith…

May all those who have left Christ return…may America be restored and become a more faithful and holy people, and for Europe, that they will come back to their Christian roots.

May God bless the Muslims and be satisfied with Him, and not envy others or destroy them.

I say “Ameen” to what you are praying that you become a good christian, not full of hatred for people of other faiths. I also pray that christians become well united and walk and work on the path that Jesus walked. I pray that christians become good followers of Jesus.

I pray that christians do not abuse the messenger Muhammad. I pray that the christians who believe that angel Gabriel visited mother Mary and he also visited (Joseph) the father of Jesus, the christians should not doubt that the same angel visited Muhammad. I pray that christians do not say that Muhammad was visited by the Satan.

That would be a great sin.

I also pray that the christians believe in repentence as John the Baptist taught repentence. Jesus also stressed repentence. So the christians should not lay too much hope that their sins are taken away by some one else. They need to repent to the Lord, God of all.

I pray that Catholics leave some room for the spiritual guidance of other nations. They should not believe that guidance had come only to the christians. Every nation was guided and every nation had their messengers. I pray that christians do not take a narrow view of salvation.

The three religions,Judaism, christianity and Islam are sister religions. They should co-operate and work together, even remaining in their own sphere, keeping their own beliefs. I as a muslim will have no hard feelings against any peaceful, well meaning christian. In fact I would wish him/her well. Same for all the Jews and Hindus and Baha’is.

Prayer from KathleenGee is good. We have learnt much from the catholics here. As the group of people separated from the Jews and became christians, if they were right to do that, we Muslims have a right to follow the new faith that is Islam.

Part One, The Profession of Faith. Chapter One. Man’s Capacity for God…the Desire for God…

'The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself. Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for:

‘The dignity of man rests above all on the fact that he is called to communion with God. This invitation to converse with God is addressed to man as soon as he comes into being. For if man exists, it is because God has created him through love, and through love continues to hold him in existence. He cannot live fully according to truth unless he freely acknowledges that love and entrusts himself to his creator.’

Christians believe it is out of Love that God works. Love is always the guideline…But we got lost when we get too much into ideas, proposals, wanderings, and then sin. When we loose our connection with others of God’s creation…others also created in love…we are too religious. Yes, we become too much into God and deny the dignity and purpose of others.

And Planten, yes you do have a right to follow Islam. As I said elsewhere, how we practice our faith is reflective of the geography of where we live, and the contacts we have with our approximates.

Anthropology, geography, reason, guidelines on assuring us what is truthful and what is not.

There are a number of aspects you shared, Planten, that represent true religion…and the Catholic Church affirms Islam in these areas. They reflect the culture of the Middle East…but people have to know their boundaries…what to promote to others, to share…

Sharing the same aspects of true religion, but from different cultures enrichens the faith…because in true faith, there is always diversity.

But again, it is the boundaries, and when people step over and force, especially through murder and destruction, then this is sin and is the work of the devil and this is what people here are rejecting…as well as Islam not clear in how it determines what is true or not.

I would say that pride and malice have no place here, and is no reflection of true religion.

Here is the testimony of St. Francis leaving Italy in the early 1200’s and arriving in the Holy Land of the Jews and Christians to meet with the Sultan.

It is said he had two vicious dogs come up to Francis, but they became friendly when they met Francis. He wanted to meet the Sultan face to face.

The sultan spoke first noting his courage and good manners, ‘Well, holy man, what do you want of me?’ Francies replied, ‘Only to bring you peace.’

The sultan replied, ‘But I like war, little Italian. For Allah I am conquering the world. It is why I was born and why I am Allah’s instrument.’

‘But great Prince, I am not talking about as the opposite of war. I speak of peace in your heart like a rich wine.’

‘And what, to a warrior, can bring more inner peace than victory on the battlefield?’

Francis replied, ‘Prayer, O child of Allah.’

‘Prayer? And do I not pray every day to Allah?’ Francis replied, ‘More, I am sure, Great leader, than many Christians pray.’

‘But I want to share with you a prayer. I learned by fighting the great battle with my self, by conquering one by one the demons in my own heart. Your prayer is good, I am sure, but I want to teach you a new prayer.’

‘Then pray it for me now, here in front of everyone.’

Francis knelt down and lifted up his eyes beyond the dias to a small opening in the tent that allowed the light in.

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is despair, hope. And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, let me not so much seek to be consoled as to console others. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.’

The sultan paused and then finally spoke. "Oh, little beggar and man of dreams, I wish in my heart that there were more gentle men like you to balance the hatred in the world. Unfortunately, the world understands only two things: power and violence. Some day, your prayer says to me the world will be turned upside down by little men who fast and pray and who die rather than take up the sword. Till then, God’s will is performed through violent men like me.’

Francis then asked, 'Will you, Lord Sultan, pray for that day?"

"I will do more, honest man, I will let you walk out of this camp alive, so that you can pray for that day. I pray that after I am gone from this earth (but not before) Allah will change his mind and use meek instruments like you and that this great army of peace-loving beggars will outnumber the forces of hatred and violence. Go to your dreams, little man.’

Prayer, detachment from the world, and penance will stop and this is the way to answer Islam. This revelation of St. Francis is the kingdom of Christ who died for us, and now lives within devout hearts of prayer, penance and love for all creation.

This kind of love is the most intelligent force in the world because it comes from Jesus.

And I did another search…In the year of 1219, St. Francis met the Sultan specifically in Egypt during the 5th Crusade and was appalled by the wickedness of the Christian soldiers.

I did some more searches, and the most significant of this encounter was that it was the first real dialogue between a Christian and a Muslim, and there is some more to the story.

So the origin of the Instrument of Peace prayer has then been questioned and researched…

I do believe that what is St. Francis’ way of life is the way for religious to follow…I just found last night his ‘second letter’ that lays out more what he expects of lay people…an austere life but full of Christ and the Gospel…Brilliant!
