I don’t want this to be a thread on evolution. So i am not going to get into anything technical. The bottom-line for me is that i don’t believe that the scientific community is lying to me or deceiving me.
science itself recognizes that its “truths” can be questioned in the future. How to trust an institution that recognizes itself as not infallible?

Because they wouldn’t admit the possibility of change if the purpose of science was to establish a deceptive enterprise. The principles of science are well established.

Yes, but following his principles does not certify that one will arrive at the certain and infallible truth …

So? Haven’t we always known that science is not infallible? Theories in science are true to the best of our knowledge; they were never infallible. But we have good reason to think that a particular model of physical reality is true if the evidence supports it.

I do not need science to reach Heaven. Abel, Abraham, David etc. are in heaven without help of science.
So I think it’s really wrong to pretend that we would be handicapped if there was no science.
Yes those who have chosen to make the present world their paradise can soften science. But me, frankly I do not care a bit …

I assume you typed your latest post on a computer or smartphone? How do you think you would have done that without scientists inventing such a thing.

We don’t need science to reach heaven, but we do need it to understand physical reality. And it would be rather dishonest to think that science has not had a positive impact on society.

No kidding. Think medical care, clean water, transportation. All available thanks to science. This thread has gotten strange.

Pfff, and all that why? we do not need all this to increase our faith and our charity.
Scientists spend all their time studying the laws of a world that God has already condemned to disappear, the countdown has already begun for 2000 years.

I go to God when i want to increase my faith and charity. I go to science when i want to understand the reality that God has created.

The only positive thing for me is what can increase my Faith and my Charity. All the rest is vanity.
Yes, with science, we cure illnesses, we travel faster, etc. etc. And then what? this is what will lead us to heaven? rather, because of this, men are tempted to make earth their paradise, and it is not insignificant that atheism flourished on the bed of scientific progress.

So you would rather live in a world without these advances, if given a choice?

This is not the teaching of the Catholic Church. Anything that improves peoples lives is by definition good. Should we not have medical breakthroughs to cure illness and disease just because they don’t in your opinion increase charity? I don’t get it. I would have thought the desire to increase the well being of human lives was an act of charity.

Everything that has a good object is not necessarily good for salvation. Health is good in its object but is not necessarily good for one person, and at all times for its salvation.

Quote me a text of the teaching of the Church that says that health for example is intrinsically good for salvation!

Show me a quote from the catholic church that says curing disease is not a good thing to do.

Making a straw-man is not going to help your case. I am not that guy.

What do you think charity is. Do you think it just means smiling and being nice to people. It means doing good for people. It is to serve the good of others in this world and for the next.
