People are also religious because they believe in God and love God.
This is the kind of thing you say that is confusing:
So what is it you’re actually looking for? I thought we had gotten somewhere quite a bit earlier, but not it’s changed again.
You say you are concerned about being religious, NOT about the existence of God, but ultimately you keep questioning why people believe, not why people are religious. You have received many, many answers on why people are religious, but then you are critical because they can’t know God exists, and they don’t answer your question about natural selection.
If you want an answer to that, start a new thread. Maybe somebody interested in answering that question will see it and give you one. But for now, it seems whatever someone says, you subtly change the topic.
Some people are religious because they believe in God and love him. Some are religious for other reasons, some of which you’ve seen here. If you are interested in the variety of reasons for people to be “religious”, you’ve gotten that. If you want an answer to something else, ask it in the title of your thread so you get people interested in answering it.
You leave the impression that people can’t answer your questions, but you keep changing the question. You say you’re not interested in whether or not God exists, but then keep getting at “what if it’s not true?” That is quite a bit different than “why do people practice religion.”
