Why Respectfully toward Protestants and Rude to Mean toward Mormons

Yes why me, much of it Catholics and others would not have problems with. However right now, one of the Mormon apostles (I forgot which one) is talking about how Jesus Christ and the Father have bodies of flesh and bone.
Yes, he made quite a point of that…as well as making a huge point of how God the Father and His Son are very separate Individuals.

Now, Of course, the choir is singing, I have to turn the pie down, and turn in my timesheet for work.

Sometimes the ability to multi-task isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.

Yeah, I have no problem with the Father and Son being separate, since we believe the same 👍.

Haha, I know, multitasking is hard while trying to listen. I’m no longer “live”.

I understand Catholicism’s focus on smoothing over its views with Protestants makes sense to me in light of the past.

Yet, when my church’s missionaries come knocking on the door, as suppose I understand why Catholics are not interested – being rude to them is unnecessary.

Those of you who know Mormons your focus in getting us to leave our church and going through RCIA or in my case, just come back to the church, after I go to confession, is useless.

Why do you try? Those who have weak knowledge about my church are going to come to you or whatever church they will or no church at all. Trying to convince me about Catholicism are a waste of time.

Speaking for myself, I do not care if its a book, tract, the forums here, etc will never convince me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is anything other than what I know it is.

Respect my church regardless of my differences regarding Catholicism that will never go away and there are things that Catholicism does is a good thing, for example is your work in support of the poor.
A perfect answer just for you;

Q - Why be disrespectful to mormons?

A - Perhaps it is because they say that our baptisms were unlegit.

But then, we say that their baptism are “unlegit” 🤷

But what do mormons say at their “mormon” baptisms then?

Anyway, if mormons really believe that our baptisms are unlegit then that means that for 2009 years (since the death of Christ) people have been recieving unlegit baptisms! That my friend, is just crazy!

I agree. Of course we believe that the authority to perform all sacraments has always been on earth (and that, in emergencies (i.e. imminent death), anyone can baptize someone else).

The Mormon baptismal formula is basically like: “Having been commissioned of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”.

What is unchristian about their baptisms?

I see, there is quite alot to read there… could you maybe give me a brief explanation?
Basically it’s what I said above, that normally, doctrinal differences do not cause the Catholic Church to “re” baptize someone that converts (i.e. Protestants and Orthodox), however in the case of Mormons, the doctrinal difference also includes differences on the nature of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So, my own take on that is that though they refer to “Father, Son, and Holy Ghost”, their understanding of these Persons is different enough that it’s as if they are referring to totally different Persons than we are (though it can be said that its their understanding of the Persons that we are both referring to that causes the problem), which can also be seen with the Jehovah’s Witnesses (who do not use the traditional baptismal formula anyway, but they do substantially differ on who (or what in the case of the Spirit) the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are.

Okay, okay I just read even more and now I fully understand.

Thank you. 😃
The differences are so great that one cannot even consider that this doctrine is a heresy which emerged out of a false understanding of the Christian doctrine. The teaching of the Mormons has a completely different matrix.

How about this: Because the Catholic religion isn’t a religion at all, it is a fabricated fantasy contrived by people who wanted to gain power. Catholicism has just about as much relevance and credibility as Scientology, another false religion concocted by a sience fiction author…

I apologize  for this seemingly rude post but I can’t be kind about this. By adhering to such false faiths and doctrines, you are gambling with your imortal soul and that is something so incredibly precious, our human minds are unable to grasp the magnitude of a soul’s worth to god. And so, I hope that you will be born again and be saved., 🙂

Sounds awful doesn’t it??
Clever attempt at mincing words but it IS a fact that Mormonism and Scientology are FALSE. Twisting words around and trying to reverse blame does nothing to change the reality of it or expunge the truth or alter it in any way. You contend that the religion Jesus Christ Himself began on earth is a fantasy? 🤷

Yes it is awful, you should be so ashamed. Aren’t you a christian at all?

I think whyme may have become agnostic due to too much debate? She use to be a catholic but then she says that she is mormon and now she says that christianity is fiction!?

Why Me likes to make comparisons in his posts to Catholicism to “prove” why we should not say certain things about Mormonism. This usually includes the Inquisition, Crusades, or a very sinful Pope, and other times can be a substitution of “Catholic” for “Mormon” when someone else is talking about Mormonism, to show that since we wouldn’t like others talking about Catholicism the way some talk about Mormonism, we shouldn’t say such things.

WhyMe is a religious schizophrenic. He believes that one can be simultaneously mormon AND Catholic. Kinda like a Jewish Nazi or a black KKK member. Catholicism is true, mormonism is false. The two are mutually exclusive. Full stop. WhyMe would like to be all things to all men, but simply has no credibility. He claims to be both, but in fact is neither. Perhaps someday he will fall off of the fence, one side or the other, but right now he is just confused. mormons are sometimes treated rudely because frankly, error has no rights, especially when their brand of snake oil leads souls away from the true Church. mormonism began with a false “prophet”, follows false doctrine and is much more pagan than Christian, even though they use the Name of Jesus Christ in the title of their false “church.”

Instead of “Jews for Jesus” we get “Jews for Himmler?” LOL

Well, I think that you can see the disharmony there. I think that WhyMe’s leans more toward the way that “New Agers” view the world, that all religions are true and good and basically are equal. This has the advantage of never having to take a position on anything and to me is a form of moral cowardice. “I’m OK, you’re OK, can’t we all just get along?” No, we can’t. Christians have died bloody deaths, as martyrs, to uphold the teachings of true Christianity, and to water it down with insipid witness mocks the sacrifice of the true soldiers of God. There is only one Truth, and it resides in the Catholic Church.

Are you an Orthodox in union with Rome or Eastern Orthodox autocephalus? I notice you’re a Vietnam Vet. So is my dad. He was in 'Nam in '66-'67 Army. He drove trucks and had his share of combat, too. Nice to see a Vietnam vet here. I salute ya! I could do without the Sarah Palin stuff though! LOL…God bless you!

I am a Latin Rite Catholic whose beliefs are orthodox and in union with the Magisterium. I am very conservative however and I have my own opinion of the ruins caused by Vatican II. Thank you for your kind words, but you leave my Sarah alone. She has more cojones than most of those girlie-men in Washington. The Hosemonkey said that!
