Why Results of STEP Study Is Wrong

I mean, there was lots o praying by not just the surveys intercessors but a slew of other people but it seems to me that the results would’ve been the same with or without prayer. Otherwise we’d see a bigger difference in those getting well with fewer complication. No?

Sure. I like a rehashing as much as the next guy. A few recycled answers should remind you we are about to go in a circle.

Nah. God saw this coming from a mile away. He thought it would be good publicity. Let the white-coat types get all excited. Write papers. Do interviews. Run in circles a bit with their hands in the air.

Then He’d follow each of these guys through the rest of their lives and give each of them an answered prayer. Right when they weren’t ready for it. Lab coats off. So that they’d have to go back to guessing. Because God’s an ace.

And He doesn’t need us to prove to Him that He exists. He already knows. This is His show that He’s watching. Not the other way around.

God always answers prayer, but not always in the way we desire or think is best. Our ultimate end is union with God in heaven. We might think the most important thing is a few more years on earth, preferably in good health and comfort, but God in his wisdom might see otherwise. It is very possible that the prayers offered for those heart patients who did not recover actually helped them very much in preparing for their death, an eventuality that none of us will avoid.

Well, that’s a morbid thought to start my day! But it must be remembered, I think, when we consider God and intercessory prayer.

Intercessory prayer is the lowest form of prayer. When it “works” as defined by this study, it is a miracle. If it worked every single time it wouldn’t be a miracle. God’s will is what is best for us and a loving God wouldn’t change His will based on our requests. Sometimes people just need to die of heart disease. We aren’t meant to live on this earth forever.

As its been said already, God cannot be studied with science.

Besides. If God wanted to prove His existence to the masses I doubt He’d want the message to be passed through the hands of guys in white coats. I think He’d just make a mountain wave at everyone. Or something. I mean I think God knows what He’s up to.

I’m well aware of the answers I’ve gotten but the internally answer my particular question, now do they, except maybe JD.

Well let’s see. You’ve asked why we can’t predict God’s action. In a study. That He knows about.

Those answers all hit at that. I mean even the sub-specific sub-argument beneath the rest that you keep asking is the same one. It’s still the same. Because in most cases a lot of unknown people are praying for people. And in most cases people do not recover just because we’ve asked. A lot of the time it’s really down to the skill of the doctor. The effectiveness of the prescription. The health of the body in question. So prayers getting answered are still God’ prerogative. The ball’s still in His court. And He’s not a pushover.

I mean think of it from His point of view anyway. He’s made the earth so that it gets filled and gets emptied. So why would the fact that white coats were busy writing down results in a study really sway His mood? Why would He suddenly get all worried about what’s going down in the terminal wing and want to make a good impression? Because for Him. He sees the whole picture. He still knows that the right number of people are going to die that day. And anyone He saves is just going to have to die later. So it’s easy to see why He’d hold back. It’s easy to see why He wouldn’t play.

I hope that helps square the circle for you a bit. I hope it speaks a little more clearly in that.

So in a nutshell, the answer is that what happens or doesn’t, regardless of our prayers is His will be done?
