Well, I don’t know how that happened, but I had the wrong link . Here is the correct link: courageouspriest.com/why-should-a-christian-not-lose-hope-in-our-dark-times

Even a casual observer of American society can tell that there is a certain sinister chaos spreading throughout every aspect of public life these days. Naturally, as it filters through society it finds its way into our homes, families and personal lives as well. The reports of monumental breakups and takeovers, meltdowns, dysfunctions, cutbacks, disasters, protests, catastrophic events, scandals, and just plain moral chaos are, shall we say, legion, and it does not look like there will be any let up in the dismantling of our formerly decent society any time soon. Public officials and the movers-and-shakers of social communications long ago divorced American culture from authentic Christian values, and the result is that modern America has found itself first wandering then running down a very slippery slope to moral and social anarchy. The darkness has settled upon us. Read more

This should give you some inspiration on a sermon by Tony Compolo is an alumnus of, a Professor Emeritus of Sociology at, Eastern University and spiritual advisor to a number of presidents over the years. He is know for his sermon:

“It’s Friday But Sunday’s A Coming!” Great Message on YouTube

youtube.com/watch?v=UcbKWT10z34

The lyrics are:

. Campolo patted him on the knee and simply said, “Top that.” The older black pastor looked at him and said, “Boy, watch the master.”

It was a simple sermon, starting softly, building in volume and intensity until the entire congregation was completely involved, repeating the phrases in unison. The sermon went something like this.

It’s Friday. Jesus is arrested in the garden where He was praying. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. The disciples are hiding and Peter’s denying that he knows the Lord. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. Jesus is standing before the high priest of Israel, silent as a lamb before the slaughter. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. Jesus is beaten, mocked, and spit upon. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. Those Roman soldiers are flogging our Lord with a leather scourge that has bits of bones and glass and metal, tearing at his flesh. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. The Son of man stands firm as they press the crown of thorns down into his brow. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. See Him walking to Calvary, the blood dripping from His body. See the cross crashing down on His back as He stumbles beneath the load. It’s Friday; but Sunday’s a coming.

It’s Friday. See those Roman soldiers driving the nails into the feet and hands of my Lord. Hear my Jesus cry, “Father, forgive them.” It’s Friday; but Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. Jesus is hanging on the cross, bloody and dying. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. The sky grows dark, the earth begins to tremble, and He who knew no sin became sin for us. Holy God who will not abide with sin pours out His wrath on that perfect sacrificial lamb who cries out, “My God, My God. Why hast thou forsaken me?” What a horrible cry. But Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. And at the moment of Jesus’ death, the veil of the Temple that separates sinful man from Holy God was torn from the top to the bottom because Sunday’s coming.

It’s Friday. Jesus is hanging on the cross, heaven is weeping and hell is partying. But that’s because it’s Friday, and they don’t know it, but Sunday’s a coming.

And on that horrible day 2000 years ago, Jesus the Christ, the Lord of glory, the only begotten Son of God, the only perfect man died on the cross of Calvary. Satan thought that he had won the victory. Surely he had destroyed the Son of God. Finally he had disproved the prophecy God had uttered in the Garden and the one who was to crush his head had been destroyed. But that was Friday.

Now it’s Sunday. And just about dawn on that first day of the week, there was a great earthquake. But that wasn’t the only thing that was shaking because now it’s Sunday. And the angel of the Lord is coming down out of heaven and rolling the stone away from the door of the tomb. Yes, it’s Sunday, and the angel of the Lord is sitting on that stone and the guards posted at the tomb to keep the body from disappearing were shaking in their boots because it’s Sunday, and the lamb that was silent before the slaughter is now the resurrected lion from the tribe of Judah, for He is not here, the angel says. He is risen indeed.

It’s Sunday, and the crucified and resurrected Christ has defeated death, hell, sin and the grave. It’s Sunday. And now everything has changed. It’s the age of grace, God’s grace poured out on all who would look to that crucified lamb of Calvary. Grace freely given to all who would believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary was buried and rose again. All because it’s Sunday.

It’s Friday! But Sunday’s a Coming!

As a priest told me once when I was lamenting to him: “There’s no need to worry. We’ve read the book and we know how it ends…WE WIN!”

That comment has sustained me ever since.

Mark Mallett, I believe explains what’s going on. He backs everything up with remarks and writings of Popes, Scripture, Chuch Doctors, Catechism, Saints.

I believe the Body of Christ is going through its own Passion…the Bride is following Her Spouse.

I believe we are near to “The Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary” as foretold at Fatima.

It is not the end of the world. It is the breaking of Satan’s deception!
We all know we couldn’t continue down this path—don’t we? I see it, anyway.
It is the end of Satan’s Era as described by the Ecstacy experienced by Pope Leo XIII.

Father John Corapi says this too. He says his mother reminds him when he begins to despair.

All of his videos are good on youtube. Your particular quote is included in his Old War/New War video.

Great stuff, we need to hear today.
There’s a Battle going on.

You won’t find to many Priest with a quote like this one.
Don’t be fooled: the vampire culture is the spawn of the Harry Potter culture that has washed over our youth for a decade and still seduces parents into thinking it is all just “harmless entertainment.” Kids dressing up as sorcerers, blogging about vampires, dabbling in Wicca – it’s just plain seductive and evil.
Fr. Tom Euteneuer is definitely a courageous Priest! 👍

That era should have come to a close 26 years ago. Satan was given 100 years, not 126. His vision happened in 1884.

I feel something else is happening.

The world is by far more free, more prosperous and more ethical than it has ever been. When has there been a better time? During the racist days of the 50’s? During the days when most of the world was under the thumb of the colonial powers? During the poverty of the Middle Ages?

I think we should rejoice at the progress we have made over the last century. These are not the darn days, they are by far the most illuminated days of the human race.

Nonsense.

Adultery is accepted as fine.

Fornication is seen as fine.

Living together is considered a wise choice.

Millions of babies die each year through abortion.

Divorce is celebrated by those divorcing.

Same sex marriage is increasingly seen as a moral and good choice.

Breaking away from religious traditions and Churches.

Drug use is quite high.

Attacks on simple prayers in schools, along with expressions of faith in public.

Pornography industries make billions…along with soft porn on tv.

Materialism is rampant.

Science works to pervert nature through embryonic stem manipulation and human cloning.

Racisim is just as high as ever, there are just laws to protect today.

The list could easily stretch into the hundreds…we live in a modern Sodom and Gomorrah, the worse culture in history…imo.

At what point in history was our culture better? When slavery violated the dignity of millions? When segregation and poverty was rampant?

Slavery was a terrible thing, no doubt, yet the people did turn that over, while today we make abortion a near sacrament–with no end in sight. There is no moral comparison between slavery and murder, the two are not at the same level of immorality. There are many comparisons in how this nation reacted to slavery and abortion, but not on the moral level. We kill 1.3 million babies a year legally and many, many people say that those are good and just acts.

As for which time, pick any time prior to the 1960s and we were a much more moral country and much more moral people, than we are now. We went from the greatest generation during WWII to the worst generation (Baby Boomers) in the span of one single generation. All the things I listed has existed in smaller numbers throughout history (except for maybe the science stuff), yet there is no time in USA history in which we embraced and celebrated those grave sins and those grave horrors like we do today.

The Bible warns us of a day during which right will be called wrong, and wrong will be called right. The Bible also tells us there will be a time during which people will gather with and collect for themselves preachers who tell them what they want to hear. Those things appear to be coming to fullfillment TODAY!

Yep. With prayer, things have been delayed, just like the Blessed Virgin Mary said we could do.

Also, it is purported she told Father Gobbi (private revelation) in 1988, we had 10 years to turn ourselves around.
1998 came and ?

There’s an upheaval in Nature happening. A whole lotta shakin’ going on.
The Birth Pangs have begun, I believe.

Watch that weather.

Man-made and Nature (Natural). Heard of any Disasters lately?

Who believes we can kill 3500 of the weakest among us each day—take God out of our Government, Schools and out of the Town Square…and He would continue to protect us?

It’s been made clear—He’s not wanted. The perversion of Separation of Church and State.
Has He removed His Hand of Protection?

God is a Gentleman. He does not push His Will on us (you know that).
We choose-through our God-given free will.

Not everyone can “see it.” They believe we can continue down this road…
Pray the Rosary every day.

And, like the BVM said recently (private revelation), “Be ready.”
God will bring His wayward children back to Himself. Because He loves us. Just like a Good Father would do. The BVM has been sent to warn us over and over and over.

Have we listened, and heeded her words of warning?
How about the warnings from our Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI in recent times?

Got oil?

Because it does!"

Father Euteneuer sees it too. Mother Angelica three. They’ve all made remarks regarding the Church going through Her Own Passion.

This is nothing new as the whole world has become a loose cannon. Morals is shot,God is being taken out of America by the few. I honestly do not think us Catholic’s have or are taking our commitment serious enough. Every Catholic should recommit themselves to our Lord Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. Prayer and reaching out to our neighbor coupled with going to Mass more often.

I am opposed to abortion but there is no way to compare it to slavery- which is the wholesale violation of the dignity of a person for life. This is a sin that is incomparable in its inhumanity.

What was better in the period prior to the 60’s? Women were second class citizens from much of the period before that, racism and segregation were rampant and many more billions lived under colonial rule around the world. We have progressed much since then and have made the world a better place. The 60’s, a time of turmoil, were instrumental in the liberation of humanity.

Today you are free to live as you like. Those that will act in a pious manner do so because of their own free will and not because society forces them to act as such.

Our world has many sins today, but the state of humanity has progressed.

I would ask the participants here to refocus for a second. Rather than try to play a zero-sum game of who’s preferred era in history was better than who’s elses, let’s recognize that that type of navel gazing is exactly what the Devil relishes in. (See the first line of my signature for more detail).

That is not to say we cannot comment on such matters at all. As we learn from history, so does the Evil One. We gain the insights of John Paul the Great, Benedict XVI, Fulton Sheen, Richard Neuhaus, etc, but the Evil One also refines his trade. Who would have thunkit years ago that the possibility to murder the most helpless and innocent among the whole human race would be trumpeted as a right and indeed an indication of how advanced and prosperous we have come? But to those who think I am back-handedly supporting the position that the present is somehow worse than the past are mistaken: this isn’t a conflict between the present and the past, but rather between Good and Evil. In a generation or two the absurdities of the abortion movement (say) will be its undoing, yet the Devil will have learned from that whole ordeal and have something even more treacherous and diabolical in store.

We are called always to bear witness against those things which diminish the Good News. To play semantic games with the works of the Evil One so as to figure out which is the most defensible is preposterous.

Again, refer to my signature.

Now you have strayed very far from your original statement. If satan was given freedom to do harm 126 years, and if God gave satan only 100 years, than things should have started to improve 26 years ago…and they have not improved at all. Prayer has nothing to do with this. If anything, prayer might have shortened the time, not made it longer.

We have nothing further discuss since you feel slavery is worse than abortion, that slavery is worse than murder. How your mind can reach that horrible conclusion I cannot fathom, yet it is clear since we cannot agree on that, then we will not agree on anything else. 🙂
