Buddhism and converts
Nothing created deserves a particular length of life since it is a gift.
Everything deserves a particular length of life due to actions in previous lives and in the current life.

Buddhism is not Christianity.
They are radically different.

Per Buddhism, however, not all events are due to karma – the theory explains only some evils (harmful events).

One thing to remember in comparing Buddhism and Christianity is this from the Catechism:
34 The world, and man, attest that they contain within themselves neither their first principle nor their final end, but rather that they participate in Being itself, which alone is without origin or end. Thus, in different ways, man can come to know that there exists a reality which is the first cause and final end of all things, a reality “that everyone calls God”.

Because of Jesus Christ. Here’s something for you to do: Go to your nearest Adoration Chapel and tell Jesus why you want to reject Him for Buddhism or Hinduism. Without Christ you’ll have nothing.

Because it is too complex and too difficult.
Hinduism and Buddhism are complex too.

Catholicism at least is united in its teachings. Hinduism has atheistic sects and that is seen as totally acceptable by theistic Hindus.

What are some things that make it complex and difficult? What are some reasons you pick Hinduism or Buddhism that you don’t think Catholicism has?

Are you saying it is too difficult and complex because you don’t believe you have the intellectual capacity to understand it and follow through with it?

Or do you say that because you think it is more complicated than it needs to be?

I am puzzled as to what in Buddhism or Hinduism attracts you. Have you read any history of Buddhism or Hinduism, and the consequences for the countries where they are prevalent?

I know Catholicism is difficult. It is the narrow road, not the broad one. But if it is the truth, isn’t it worth it? Isn’t an eternity of joy worth anything here?

What wete the consequences of Buddhism and Hinduism in those countries???

When you get a chance look up Hindu extremists. They are becoming a huge problem in India right now. It’s all over the news of late. They are specifically targeting Christians- killing, raping, harassing, desecrating. It’s getting really bad in some places. Their fruits are not Christlike, let’s say.

You probably won’t find a compelling argument given by individuals on this forum, not for any lack of sincerity or faith on their part, but because your approach is to be persuaded by people rather than by God himself.

If what you seek is to have someone give you pros vs cons with regards to various religions, then you’re going to go where you feel you’ll have the easiest time spent on getting the most out of the time you put in.

And as you’ve said
Because it is too complex and too difficult.
That’s Christianity for you. We don’t follow God because it’s easy and simple. In fact He tells us that it is anything but. Yet, we don’t rely on ourselves to get us through it, but we place our faith in God, who tells us that there is no other way, and to drive home this point He tells us that few will even find their way into His Kingdom.
Make your way in by the narrow gate. It is a broad gate and a wide road that leads on to perdition, and those who go in that way are many indeed…
And there is no other faith, religion, god, or belief, that will love you more than the one who created you and the one who created you is not found anywhere else.

Well, I’m not Catholic myself; however, I do know my history. Perhaps it would behoove you to actually research the Crusades. It’s always a poor argument to bring up (on numerous fronts) when we have people right now in the world raping four-year-olds because they come from a Christian family. Again, actually read what’s going on with the Hindu extremists right now in the world and then research the Crusades and then see if it is a good idea to attempt to compare the two.

ETA: Hindus that aren’t extremists think non-Indians trying to be Hindu is stupid, more often than not. There is a Hindu temple near my house. They are very closed. They don’t want converts. Some will even tell you to explore your own faith traditions instead. Hare Krishnas are an exception- and all those ashrams that just want your money.

Ok…I understand…but there are and have been many “seeker s” like me…who have even gone off to live in India…in Ashram’s…we don’t just want Truth…we want experience too…

Go visit a Christian monastery then. That will give you plenty of Truth and experience. Why go to Heathens when Christians do it better anyway?

Why woul you want to leave?
We have the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Three in One. We have the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Roman Catholic Church is all that you shoul need!
