hi .
we (muslims and christians) believe in god and heaven and hell.
we(muslims)don’t allow anyone to insult prophet Jesus.we love
prophet Mohammad and we love Jesus also.
but why sometimes and some of christians insult prophet Mohammad ?
for example in Denmark and …
Again we(muslims)don’t allow anyone insult one of messengers of God neither Prophet Mohammad and neither prophet Jesus

no one has the right to insult anyone’s beliefs…

that being said, christians believe that Jesus
was the perfect revelation of God, and that no
other revelation followed…

we don’t follow Mohammad, just as the Jews
don’t follow Jesus… plus, somethings might
be an insult to you, that wouldn’t to one of
another faith…

we all do, however, pray to the same God of
Abraham… and hopefully pray every day for
peace and understanding between all people…

and when someone insults Mohammad,
know that person’s heart is not right…
🙂

Well speaking for Americans its because we believe that people should be free to express their opinions no matter how much we dislike them.

I know this isn’t much consolation to you, but, In America, Christian figures like God, Jesus and the Virgin Mary are probably insulted, mocked and made fun of FAR more frequently than the Prophet Mohammad.

Yes I agree with BillP.

And just as Christian American (soldiers) were admonished in the media (and the world) for “allegedly” tossing a Quran in a toilet, it was never mentioned anywhere in the media that muslim terrorist desecrated the sacred temples and altars of the Christian churches in Israel and elsewhere in the Middle East - using our sacred altars and sacramentals as toilets and ashtrays.

Henceforth, I cannot believe that Muslims actually show respect to Jesus, the Son of God, whom you/they believe is nothing more than a mere man.

Maybe because Mohammed religated Jesus to simply a prophet, second to himself, where Christians believe that Jesus is God Incarnate. For us, what Mohammed did to Jesus is blaphemy. YOu may love what your religion teaches is Jesus, but the Jesus of Islam bears little resemblance to the Jesus of Christianity.

Well, what exactly do you mean by insult?

Christians do not believe Mohammed was a prophet, nor that he spoke for God. Christians do not believe that the Koran holds the Truth.

Two state this belief is not an insult any more than a Muslim stating he does not believe Christianity is true is an insult.

I am not an expert on Islam, but I would say that Christians do not insult Mohammed so much as they tend to look negatively upon him. Why do they look negatively upon him? They look negatively upon some of his very violent commands in the Quaran, and tend to see this as a reflection of him. They also look very negatively on his historical actions, such as those that can be read about here orhere.

Its not about insult, its about having serious problems with the theological and historical facts about the man. Nobody would have a problem with someone whom criticized Benito Mussolini because of the negative things he did. Nobody has a problem with people who might criticize a very nice man like George Bush for things he has done. So long as a criticism is based on facts, it is just, and this is all Christians do to Mohammed. (If a Christian were to truly insult the man out of a mean spirit and without regard for facts, this would, consequently, be inconsistent with the behavior to which all Christians are called.)

Truth should not be considered an insult; mohammad’s teachings blaspheme Jesus and contradict his teachings, and his life does not resemble the life of Jesus by any means; no matter how much you “love” Jesus, the very fact that Jesus’ death is a lie for you is enough insult to Jesus and history-The image mohammad gave about Jesus deprives people from their salvation in Jesus; hence, i look down at any person like this.

Making a cartoon of Mohammed in Denmark is nothing compared to Jesus Christ being portrayed as a homosexual who has sex with his disciples as has been done here in a play. The difference is that even though we believe Jesus Christ is God, we protest peacefully against such blasphemies, we do not threaten the perpetrators with death!

I’ve never heard of a Muslim sending anyone a death threat because they blasphemed Jesus!

we are not forbidding freedom of expression.

As BillP mentioned, in the West it is not unusual to have some individuals mock, or portray in a controversial manner, important religious figures. It is sometimes done for artistic reasons, but sometimes it is done simply to be outrageous. This can be very infuriating to religious people.

One television show in the United States recently portrayed a statue of the Virgin Mary in a crude and highly offensive manner. The show also demeaned the Pope. It prompted many people in this forum to send letters of protest, attempting to put pressure on the television network which showed the episode. And the pressure worked. But very few people here would have denied that television show the freedom to portray religious figures in whatever manner they chose. The action against the television network was simply to say: You have crossed a line that shouldn’t have been crossed. Don’t do it again."

I don’t want to be argumentative, but that is not true. I am not advocating a lack of tact. But there is value oftentimes in calling a spade a spade. The conspiracy theories, for example, that Jews are behind all the bad things that happen are ridiculous and need to be called ridiculous.

As has been said, we Christians do not believe Mohammed was really a prophet so we are not (in our opinion) insulting one of God’s messengers.

You are on the internet where the freedom of ideas is rampant to include those we don’t agree with and which are vicious (thus the moderators). Get USED TO IT for the Christians have had to deal with having Jesus bashed routinely since the Enlightnement. We developed some thick skins but will fight back from time to time like to have the Book of Daniel pulled from the air or to pan The Last Temptation of Christ but by and large in the free world you can say what you want and not be killed or maimed for it, unlike the wonderfully intellectually free environment one finds in Islamic countries.

“In 1989, Iran’s Supreme Leader issued a fatwa (legal decree) to assassinate Salman Rushdie, a novelist, who wrote Satanic Verses, which includes questions about the angel Gabriel’s role in inspiring the Quran. Now the extremists in the highest levels in Iran have recently renewed the fatwa.”

Why the West must protect freedom of speech’

in contrast:

Christians responded to Dan Brown’s offensive book ‘The Da Vinci Code’ by writing books and articles in response. Out of these Christians, there were at least 2 Christian scholars that I know of (Ben Witherington III and Darrel L. Bock) who wrote at least one book each in response to Dan Brown’s ‘The Da Vinci Code’.

By the way, what is considered insulting Muhammad to Muslims? Pretty much anything you say about Muhammad that isn’t positive is considered insulting Muhammad to Muslims. Calling Muhammad a false prophet, is that insulting? Because all Christians believe that Muhammad is a false prophet? Writing a book attempting to prove that Muhammad is not a true prophet, to help Christians see that Islam is a false religion and to prevent them from converting to Islam, is that insulting?

I have heard Muslims say insulting comments about our beloved Apostle Paul many times, why don’t you go preach to your fellow Muslims and tell them not to say insulting comments about our beloved Apostle Paul? Or maybe you are one of those Muslims who say insulting comments about the Apostle Paul too?

Also, I find what Muslims say about Jesus to be insulting. That Muslims reject the divinity of Jesus, reject His atoning sacrifice on the cross. Yet claim to love Him, respect Him and follow Him. I find that insulting.

The pronoun “we” that you use is deceptive. We do not believe in the pagan prophet Mohammad. We also do not put him on the level of a prophet and equal him to Jesus the Son of God.
You do not love Jesus. If you did you would not deny Christians the right to wear the cross around their necks in certain areas of the Muslim world and you would not desecrate and disallow the bible from being openly read and distributed in Muslim controlled countries.
The Koran actually directs all Muslims to either kill, convert or enslave all non-Muslims. How then does that reflect love of Jesus I might ask?
Those are my kind words and now my true feeling and I really do not care if a pagan follower is offended:
Islam is pure paganism that was founded by Mohammed, a cruel killer and an illiterate who made a phony claim of being a prophet. Somewhat like a David Koresh of Waco fame.
His ‘religion’ makes women submissive servants to men and punishes them for the same acts forgiven men. Intolerance of others religions is a dictate in their book of prejudice and bigotry which they call the Koran.
His followers mimic him and kill innocent people and commit suicide in the name of their evil prophet. Children are not exempt from their destructive actions and in fact are used as a method to kill innocents all over the world.
They kill in the name of Allah and their pagan prophet and then expect reward which will never be given. They will not share heaven with God Almighty but will forever scream out with Mohammed while in the company of the Devil and his evil cohorts.
