The first wave of Puritans were escaping Anglicanism… not Catholicism.

in the NE US the population is almost 40% catholic

by far and away (by demograhic) the single largest religious denomination

my parish was packed to the rafters today for the Epiphany Mass

yet most of these blue state “catholics” vote hard core left-wing, pro-abortion and their most fervent wish is that obama could’ve been elected to a 3rd term

Some of them will care if you speak out and don’t agree with them. A lot of them can’t handle different opinions and the two religions they will defend or not criticize are Satanic worship and Islam.

A lot of the cultural failures today are from the lie known as Sola Scriptua as well as the failure, ignorance and arrogance of Protestant Churches in the West whose entire superstructure is based on twisted falsehoods.

Furthermore, blame may also be placed upon secular Jews who no longer pay attention to the Torah as well as the Orthodox Church whose outreach has been very poor and could learn something from Pope Francis on that venue.

Yes, I do mean the KKK. My grandfather was a member, and the historical society where he lived has confirmed that it was an anti-Catholic group in his area directed against Irish immigrants as there were virtually no African-Americans for miles around.

The KKK being anti-Catholic is very well known, especially among people who had Catholic relatives in the USA at that time, such as my family. It was anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic, and anti-African American. The three “K”'s were said to stand for “Katholic”, the ethnic slur word for Jewish people, and the racial word for African-Americans.

Edited to add: I noted when the papers were busy covering Fred Trump’s involvement in KKK that his chapter was apparently marching through an Italian (presumably Catholic) neighborhood in protest of “Roman Catholic Police” assaulting “Native-born Protestant Americans”…doesn’t seem to have had anything to do with African-Americans. Please note, I am NOT bashing Donald Trump for this as how can I throw a stone at him for his father’s actions when my own grandfather was doing pretty much the same thing?

My dads parents are probably rolling in their graves over me converting to Catholicism. Hardcore southern Methodists.

Say a few prayers for them, they may need it. Then they will thank you for converting and thinking of them because otherwise they’d have to sit in Purgatory a lot longer than people without Catholics in their family.

Would you mind sharing what site that is? I like to defend against anti Catholics.
I would be willing to do so but I don’t know if this would violate what’s acceptable here. I remember getting cautioned years ago at another site for mentioning a different one. How would I go about getting the OK here?

The rules here are that you can’t link to a particular thread on another site for the purpose of rallying the troops or “circling the wagons”, and ganging up on other people at another site. But I don’t think sharing sites has been frowned upon, as long as it is relevant to the topic or post to which you are responding.
For example, I used to regularly visit “Christian Forums”, but haven’t been there in a LOOOONG time because I’ve just been too busy. I know the anti-Catholic rhetoric can get heavy at times, but there are also sub-forums within that site where it’s not allowed at all.

Yes, but they believed that the Anglicans had not sufficiently Reformed from Catholicism. The Church of England, in the beginning, just took over the role and practice from Rome. People who had divergent beliefs were still fined, imprisoned, or put to death. The Anglican practice of catholicism had no room for the Puritans.

I’m sorry. I completely misread what you posted. This is even after reading 3-4 times. Again, my apologies.

My first thought is : the sexual abuse of children by Priests has been very unfortunate for everyone. One of my best friends always brings up this topic when we discuss Catholicism. It’s hard to focus on the 94% good when there is a Spotlight shining on the 6% nauseating bad.
Second thought is : society has definitely shifted to Amorality as the Popular Stance. Family values, traditional and Godly, are a threat which Popular View wishes to annihilate. If you are a real Catholic, you will be contrary to the World’s way of life.

Well, people just do that to me and follow my posting history, so the link isn’t necessary.

I don’t mind it that much though.

I also just looked. At CARM. Very insulting to Catholics. Stuff written in elaborate detail, not nice. Too bad for them.

Thanks so much for the clarification, and take care.
