Everyone of its books (with the possible exception of one) was written by a Jew.

Ok, so you’re saying the Bible is a Jewish book–not a Catholic book and thus certainly not a Protestant book either, is that it?

And that all those Jewish people like St. Paul and St. Peter and St. James and St. Jude and St. John and St. Luke and St. Matthew and St. Mark etc. **kept on being Jewish **after Christ’s death and resurrection, and were never “Christians” (Catholic Christians as it is even found in the Bible–the word ‘catholicos’ -universal–being used there). Nope, they wrote after Jesus’ death and they were all still Jews and never Christians at all. . . .🤷

St. Luke may not have been a Jew.

The New Testement was written by members of the early Church, and they were born Jews and born again Catholics.

The bible is Gods book to mankind entrusted to the Jews and followed by men of good will worldwide despite their religious affiliation.
Catholics have tried to replace Jews as Gods chosen people—heresy.
Now they want to claim the Jewish book as their own. Pretty petty behavious in my opinion.

Are you saying the the NT books are Jewish in content and nature?

Show me where Jesus said to write it down and pass it on to mankind.

So you’re saying that the Bible is a Jewish text, that God ‘willed’ it to Christians later and that you’re going to ignore the fact that at the time the Holy Spirit led humanity into canonizing the books, that those whom He led were all Catholic Christians, and that for some 600 plus years all who read and heard it were Catholic Christians, for another 600 years they were all Catholic Christians and Orthodox Christians, and that only some 500 years ago or so, certain people protesting that Catholic and Orthodox Christian faith took out a few books and have spent the last 500 years claiming not only that their personal and non-authoritative interpretations are the ‘real ones’ but that each of their hundreds of churches is the ‘real church’, the real ‘bible-believing Christians’–and all this time, the book that they claim is the ‘only’ authority isn’t even a Christian book???

Not a rabbinic Jew.

And the basis of rabbinbic Judaism didn’t appearl until AFTER the Christian Bible (including NT) was written.

End of Matthew.

Btw, the Talmud wasn’t supposed to be written down either. That’s why it’s called the ORAL law.

Did he say “write” or “teach.” Jesus wanted it passed face to face, by oral tradition and example of action.

Uhm, actually…Christians are God’s chosen people. The Israelites were the chosen nation of God under the Old Covenant. His chosen are those who have accepted the full revelation of Himself in the Person of His Son. Those who deny the Christ are most assuredly not a chosen people.

The Christian Bible in print is actually a diverse collection of individual books which were listed, compiled, and ordered into various canons by the Church Fathers. In a short explanation, the Bible is a work and product of the historical Church.

And so they did. That no more prevents writting it down than it stopped the Jews from writting down the Talmud.

I am not following this thread. What is the logic here? If the writers of the New Testament were born Jews…and then became Christians and wrote the New Testament…the Bible cannot therefore be Catholic. I may be the crazy person in this room, but I am not sure where any of that even makes any sense at all to respond to.

Be careful my friend, this sounds like replacement theology. God’s covenant with Abraham was unconditional. There is indeed a special role for Israel in God’s salvation plan. The Jews were and are God’s chosen people - he chose (not by merit, by grace) to use them to teach the world about Him and the difference between holy and unholy and about the coming of the Messiah. While are you correct that God extended his grace to all (jew and gentile) who come to believe in Him through Christ, He did not abandon his covenant with Israel. This is what Romans 11 is telling us - after the full alotment of Gentile come in “all Israel will be saved” (not all Jews of all time, as some believe, but I believe he will cause that remnant to “see” and come to faith, which is consistent with zechariah when it says in the end times they will mourn for the one whom they have pierced and call on the name of the law).

As to God’s plan for those he has willed to be blind - God is merciful and this is a mystery to us.

But - the Church has not replaced Israel in terms of being the “chosen people” - we are just, together with Israel, God’s children and with all believers (Jew and Gentile) part of the mystical body of Christ.

Blessings,

Brian

Which, btw, includes a large number of those of the race of the Hebrews, the Children of Israel, the seed of Abraham.

Do you think maybe that is why I said with the possible exception.

They were Jews and born again follwoers of Christ.
Do you honestly believe that when one becomes Born Again that in heaven they say oh this one is born again Baptist this one born again Catholic this one born again Methodist?

Most assuredly it is.
“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.”

All of scripture is inspired by God. 2 Tim 3:16

Even Catholics are supposed to believe that per Vatican ll

Well first things first.
  1. The bible is not a single books with one writer from cover to cover. It is a compilation for books of different authors lead by the Holy Spirit.
  2. I am not sure I would say it a Catholic book per say, but it was definitely the Catholic Church that gave the world the Bible as was know It. Luther would not have had a Bible to remove books from or add words to if not for the Church. Also remember that the Jewish cannon was compiled after the Christian cannon.

You now have some company, Marco. I am the other crazy person in the room.

If apostate Catholics wrote the Book of Mormon, would the Book of Mormon have been considered a Catholic book?

The bible is a Jewish book.
If I take someones song or someoneles movie and claim them to be mine I have stolen that material from them and have made it my own.
The bible says “Thou shall not steal”.
You are ignoring the very book you claim is yours but in fact is not.

God inspired the bible that means he breathed the bible into existance. All credit goes to God. God can use a donkey to do His will. God is the moving agent we are the passive agent.
