Might I ask all who participate in this thread to do the same?
You may indeed and I will gladly join you. It seems that since I have come on I have managed to get involved in threads where one or two people are stubbornly insisting on believing the strangest things in defiance of clear teaching to the contrary, and refuse to listen to reason. . .I pray for them to see the light, and I see no reason not to add Hisalone to that list. 🙂

Luther had a bigger problem with some NT books than he had with these. 😃
That’s probably true. I for one, consider the deuterocanonicals to be necessary to include in Scripture. While I believe they are too disputed, and quite frankly, hazy, to draw doctrine from… they are great for building a historical witness to the other Old Testament books and the New Testament as well. They are also great in liturgy.

Sirac is wonderful at funerals, not that that is happy time, unless you see funerals like Catholics do 😉

The Lutheran hymn Now Thank We All Our God is based on Sirach. The Small Catechism, for the 8th commandment, has an illustration using imagery from the story of Susanna. Wisdom 18:14-15 provide the testimony on which Christians understood Christ’s birth to have occurred when night was “half-spent,” thus giving us the carol, “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.” And any Lutheran who has attended the Easter Vigil and sung the Benedicte, Omnia Opera, that is, “All You Works of the Lord” will note that it is the Song of the Three Young Men (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) who were thrown into the fiery furnace and kept safe by the pre-incarnate Christ. However, that song is not in the Hebrew text of Daniel, and so is not known to most Christians, since their English translations are taken from the Hebrew.

Clearly, the deuterocanonicals belong in the treasury of every Christian’s Bible, while we understand them to be of lesser authority than the canonical books.

So the Jews at that time/period had printing presses and compiled and distributed the Bible that you now read?

catholic, not Catholic.
what is the difference?

you cannot be part of the CC if you are not in her. there is only One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church not many.

peace.

SIA should proclaim himself Pope… for trying to convince us Catholics that we are wrong…

catholic, not Catholic.
The Western Catholic Church, however, has existed since the beginning. Paul founded a church in Rome; hence, the Roman Catholic Church (with bishops, elders, deacons, etc.)

Granted, I am Protestant, so I don’t accept the authority with which it holds itself; but one cannot deny clear history.

Catholic means Universal. It always have that meaning. It is only in the Catholic Church that is the Pillar and Bulwark of Truth.
catholic means universal. Catholic is the church that tries to convince everyone that it is the only one Jesus founded. Huge difference.

Nope, the Deposit of Faith concerning moral and faith remain unchanged. It was the Catholic Church in 325 AD Council of Nicea that affirmed an orthodox theological view that God is a triune God. Before that it was never clarified. Yet in Scripture the word Trinity is not found but many Christians affirm this belief.

What proof do you have that the Catholic Church is not the historical Church that Jesus founded? None. History proves you wrong BIG TIME

Wrong Manny. Read the Scriptures you quote. The Gospel of John proclaims the Word as God. Jesus says that he and the father are one. Jesus told Peter that when he sees him he sees the father. Plenty of clear cut evidence that the trinity is spoken of tons of times in Scripture. You are beginning to use the same logic as the Jehovahs Witnesses Manny.

I guess he could since in protestant religion anyone can be anything they want to be. you know like joe olstee who made himself reverend.

You must be really ignorant. The Word Trinity is not in Scripture. We use the term because the Council of Nicea affirm this belief that God is a Triune God. Three divine persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit but ONE GOD. I believe in what the Council taught because the Holy Spirit work through the Church. I do believe in the Trinity that is certain but you have to admit the WORD TRINTY IS NOT FOUND IN THE BIBLE.

Jehovah Witness uses to justify their belief based on the theory of Sola Scriptura. They have no other authority than Scripture. I on the other have three authoritiative source, Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and Magisterial Teaching (Church teaching office).

These books were added into the Bible by the Church after the Nicene Council.

The Bishops at the Council of Nicea weren’t reading the Bible that we have today and saying, “hey, look, it says …” - rather, they were determining the official core doctrines of the Church first, so that those who were putting the Bible together would know which books to include - that is, books that affirm and uphold the already-existing doctrines of the Church.
