First: Shalom! The basis for Rabbinic Judaism is the Torah both in its narrow and wider sense.
Even more interesting is your claim that there were no Pharisee’s in the New Testament.![]()

I would like to also clarify that the argument that the DC are not accepted because the Jews only accepted works written in Hebrew is incorrect. Some parts of the Protocanon were written in Aramaic not Hebrew and only two books of the DC were originally written in Greek, WS and 2 Mc, The remaining books were composed of in Hebrew. As examples Sirach and parts of Tobit were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls written in Hebrew.
- The deuterocanonical Greek books of the Old Testament.
Do the Hebrew texts of the deuterocanonical books recovered at Qumran predate the Greek or are they Hebrew translations of an original Greek text?I would like to also clarify that the argument that the DC are not accepted because the Jews only accepted works written in Hebrew is incorrect. One of my reference sources “Why Catholic Bibles are Bigger” states that they were originally written in Hebrew and predate the Greek. Also it states that the Ben Sira Scroll dated to a century before Christ has parts of Sirach written in Hebrew.Do the Hebrew texts of the deuterocanonical books recovered at Qumran predate the Greek or are they Hebrew translations of an original Greek text?
Thanks for that. The possibility of back-translating occurred to me the first time I learned of these Hebrew scrolls. For example, I understand the Peshitta is a translation from Greek into Aramaic. Some people hold that it preceded the Greek texts, but it did not. Again: thanks. One of my reference sources “Why Catholic Bibles are Bigger” states that they were originally written in Hebrew and predate the Greek. ?The bible is Gods book to mankind entrusted to the Jews and followed by men of good will worldwide despite their religious affiliation.
Catholics have tried to replace Jews as Gods chosen people—heresy.
Now they want to claim the Jewish book as their own. Pretty petty behavious in my opinion.

That was one of the more incredible (classic definition) ideas I’ve seen put forth in some time. The concept seems to have sprung from near worship of the book, as it is rather difficult to see the idea’s genesis in any twisting of scripture. Has the open bible become the stone tablets in some mind(s)? If so, who is the neo-Moses who delivered it to mankind??
I’m sorry. This doesn’t make any kind of sense to me at all. Please take at least a cursory glance at your subject matter before developing a post about it. Otherwise, there’s really not much to discuss.
Peace to you,
Steven
This is put very well. In fact, the Catholic Church is the fulfillment of the Jewish faith. With Jesus, Judaism is fulfilled, and then offered to all who have faith. So now believers of all origins are followers of ‘the way’. The Jews are still the chosen people, but the Jews includes the Christians who are baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and who discern and partake of the body, blood, soul and divinity of the Lord, Jesus Christ.the Church came before the Bible & produced the bible… The Church existed long before we all had individual bibles…
Jesus Christ started a Church (St. Matthew 16:18) that was different from he Jewish one… Otherwise, why would he have to come to Earth & die like He did… His church is the Catholic Church… All other christian churches (so called) are man-made…
people who say the Bible isn’t Catholic have not studied history… and if they studied history in depth, they would, as Cardinal Newman put, “cease to be Protestant”…God loved the world. ALL the world, so much that he gave his only begotten son, that no man shall perish, who believes in him. He destroyed death for us. Baffling, but true.
Praise the Lord,
Steven
LOLYeah, but with Protestants I like to emphasize the Cause of why she said that.
No one calls Jesus Lord but by the Holy Spirit. So they got a lot of 'splaining about that “mother” part in there.
What the Holy Ghost confirms no man can deny!I agree. If a Catholic does not practice virtue than he does not have Christ.
Now I know that a person who disobeys God and does whatever he wants, like making up some religion, cannot have Christ either.
Except for, you know…the Bible!!LOL
I dont know of any Christian that would say that the fruit of Marys womb was blessed nor that Mary was blessed for bearing the Christ.
I have not rejected Christ. I reject false doctrine and teachings.this is what you have been tought to believe. no one not even the umbelievers have done to so much damage to the Body of Christ as your religious groups have.
remember this. Jesus said whoever rejects you rejects me and whoever rejects me rejects the One who sent me. if you are not included in this category i dont know who is.
you have decided to join the haters of the Body of Christ instead of follow and obey His Church. this you are guilty of.
Jesus warnings. not every one who says Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but those who do the Will of my Father.
if the Will of the Father is the we be One, One faith, One baptism, One Spirit, One Lord, why do you follow divisionists who broke away from His Body? arent you just as guilt as they are who broke away from His True teachings?
St. Thomas Aquinas
**“According to the promise of the Lord, the Apostolic Church of Peter remains free from all taint of heresy or deceit in its pontiffs, the Popes, and in the full faith and authority of Peter, and while other churches are shamed by errors, she reigns the solitary Church, unshakably established, imposing silence and closing the mouths of heretics and we, of necessity for our salvation, proclaim and confess this as the pattern of holy, apostolic tradition.”

What the Holy Ghost has confirmed let no man reject!sorry. The Church is the Body of Christ.
And He’s not the Invisble Man.
The Fathers show us that there is someone who would be able to commune in our Church today because they believed the same Faith (I’m speaking for the Orthodox now, but for much of the Vatican versus Protestant debate, it also applies) from the Apostles, every generation, up until and including the present day. For the principle behind this, consult Joshua 22:10-34. The Fathers are a witness between us and you, not another Bible.
I have personaly witnessed. If you would open your own eyes you to would clearly see.Only someone so blinded by their own lack of knowing about Church practices would ever mix veneration and adoration
You can have you own opinion, but not your own facts
Luther is a well known for being anti JewWhy? Because Martin Luther himself said so:
“We are obliged to yield many things to the Papists [Catholics] - that they possess the Word of God which we received from them, otherwise we should have known nothing at all about it.” (Commentary on St. John, ch. 16.)
Luther in this passage supports the assertion that the Bible is a Catholic book. What better authority do you need than Luther himself?
Thanks I have fixed it.Except for, you know…the Bible!!
