Riley259:
If the above-described factors can be identified and treated early enough in life then homosexuality can be largely prevented. I realize that this is a position that gay activists (or any other gay person who has made the decision to have sexual relations) would call outrageous and probably condemn as the zealot rantings of a homophobic, but the facts speak for themselves. As I stated in an earlier post, I admire and respect my gay friends and definitely do not “fear” them but I pray for them every day because their path is ultimately self-destructive.
This reminds me of an article by John Derbyshire of National Review where he mused that homosexuality will never be accepted even if the causes were known and occurred before birth. He foresaw a day when a pregnant mother would sit in the doctor’s office being told that her unborn son had the “gay gene” or whatever. She would ask how much it costs to fix and no matter how high the price she would pull out her checkbook.

I mean think about it–what normal parent would wish homosexuality on his child?! That to me is the clearest common-sense indication that it’s a disorder.

By the way, your profile indicates that you are Protestant. Where do you fall?
Tax Collector, Lisa:

Please go take a look at the following thread:

Non-Catholic Religions >> Anglicans to Rome?
forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=28244&page=1&pp=100

You’ll see that I was allowed to “Spill the beans” Beginnig with Post # 30:

forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=368930&postcount=30

So that you may understand that thread and the discussion:

The Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America (PECUSA) began ordaining women “Priests” in 1976 and women “Bishops” a few years after that. They dropped the word “Protestant” from their name in the early 1990’s, becoming “ECUSA”, and consecrated a Gay Bishop (who left his wife and two young Children to move in with his Gay Lover) in Oct., 2003.

They (ECUSA) are the ones in Union with the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Church of England (C of E), which is also known as the Anglican Communion.

Several people (including my family) left PECUSA in 1977, and formed the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA). This body had some real problems staying together, which occasioned my parents’ congregation to become one of the first of the Western Rite of the Antiochan Orthodox Church.

One of the bodies that come out of the various splits and reunions was the Tradtional Anglican Communion (TAC) to which I belong. We do NOT have Gay or women “Priests” or “Bishops” and are NOT in Union with the Archbishop of Canterbury. As far as he is concerned, we are schismatics.

Our Primate, Archbishop John Hepworth, has been in negotiations with the Holy See for the past 2 years for reunion between The “Anglican Catholic Church” (Yes, they’ve agreed on a name) that would function pretty much as those of the various Eastern Catholic Churches that are now in UNION with and SUBMITTED to Pope John Paul II.

As of the present moment, the “Trans-Tiberian Swim Team” (“Trademark” Fr. Ambrose) would appear to have about 400,000 to 500,000 entrants. The question on the numbers is because some of the alphabet soup of Anglicans who’ve left ECUSA and the Anglican Communion (communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury) are considering whether to join us in the “Swim-Meet”.

So, Deo Volente, I, and about 500,000 others will be in Communion with and Submitted to His Holiness Pope John Paul II before the Lord takes him home.

So, Please keep those of us who belong to the TAC or who has decided to join us in the “Trans-Tiberian Swim” in your prayers!

Goodness, I didn’t realize it said that! I signed up when I was a Protestant. I am currently in RCIA and planning to enter the Catholic church at Easter. I started on this board hoping to learn more about Catholicism as I was planning to convert. I better figure out how to change the profile.

FWIW I was a Methodist who became totally disgusted by the moral relativism that has crept into the church—mostly regarding human life issues but they went through their own problems with homosexual ministers as well. Now you see 'em, now you don’t. It just didn’t make sense.

Sorry this is off topic!

I believe that you’ll find that you’ve made a wise choice, because you’ve left a DEAD Body for a LIVE One!

Now, at least you have a chance to get good spiritual direction when you need it. I hope you’ve found a good and loving congregation, or at least a loving subset within that congregation.

God be with you.

Michael, thank you and bless your effort to remain in a true church. As I mentioned, I know a number of Epicopalians and I truly am in anguish for them and their church. The local diocese (is that correct terminology) is very very liberal. Many women priests and much support for the homosexual bishop back east.

In an effort to belittle those who objected to the naming of Mr Robinson as bishop it was pointed out that the prohibition against homosexuality was “in the same area of the Bible that prohibits wearing blended fabrics…” IOW that this was no different than having a little spandex in your cotton undies. Good grief! But as someone said, it’s amazing how they try to cloak evil in good.

Keep swimming! I think your team is building and will increase dramatically.

Lisa N:
Heavens, Werner when you make a totally unsubstantiated comment like that, I wonder if you are interested in a discussion or simply stirring the pot.
I was reading through the posts on this particular issue and noticed a fair degree of anger. I can certainly understand how a debate can turn heated, but this entire thread made me wonder whether opposite views are even welcome in the forums. I’d read that very first post by TeenageThinker and thought, “Well, this is a question I hear all the time in the homosexual debate, so this ought to be a good thread to read.”

However, the regular members here really ripped Teen to shreds! For the record, I think many of you posted some excellent responses to explain exactly why homosexuality is wrong. I was just surprised to see the hostile aspect of it. Yes, this is a “Catholic” forum… and as a “universal” forum, one must expect opposing opinions to come into play.

If Teen posted here to stir the proverbial pot, I say, “Don’t be baited.” Respond in earnest and don’t let your anger boil over. Perhaps Teen really wanted some of the Catholic perspective, but ripping Teen up isn’t the answer. And yes, Lisa, maybe Werner really did try to stir the pot. Well, that’s unfortunate, but you never know. With a genuine love for the truth, freely shown by members of the forum, perhaps Werner’s heart may open to the Lord’s truth. One can only pray, right? And as the Lord Jesus once said…

**“**For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”
Matthew 13:15

Women think with both sides of the brain, and have full access to the right brain with all of the creativity therin. Men who think as women do, yet have the advantage of appearing to be male, have become very powerful in all of the media fields. They are pushing their own agendas.
Homosexuals of both sexes do not want a high value placed on pregnancy and marriage. If an unborn child is called a “fetus”, useful for stem cell harvesting, but otherwise a bother, that is their doing.
A TV program showing the inside activities of a brothel in Nevada is coming onto the air. Forensic crime programs showing every variety of sexual perversion and degradation, are all over the airwaves.
Tlhis filth demeans the human race and it is all to the advantage of the homosexual, who practices perversion as a way of life.
There is a law being considered in California which will give full rights to persons of any sex living together - married or not.
What kind of protection does this give to children?
If women banded together to fight for the real rights of women, we could change the world. We could eliminate those brothels in Nevada. We could stop the child and women sex slave businesses all over the world. We could demand a moral education for children and child care for working mothers.
We could demand equal pay for equal work.
Our rightful place in the world has been usurped by homosexuals.
Let us dethrone these “eresatz women” and take what is rightfully ours.

Leaving religion entirely out of it, one can deduce from the way they are made that males and females fit together, and that males and males or females and females do not. Therefore, homosexuality – if expressed in sexual behavior – is contrary to nature. The homosexual act is abberant, disordered. We need to look for the cause of homosexuality – which is probably psycho-social – and eliminate it.

JMJ Jay
I believe there are more complex factors that make it impossible to eliminate homosexual orientation. Only the behavior can be controlled.
