Also, right at that time, Christopher Steele began assembling the phony anti-Trump dossier, and said to Bruce Ohr how he “ was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president.

The dossier helped them get the warrant in October, and the Yahoo article was used in part to corroborate it.

But whatever, believe what you want. I would only recommend reading the timeline of events that took place since Trump locked up the Republican nomination in May 2016. You might see things in a different light.
EXTREMELY important sequence of events.

AND … the Christopher Steele phony anti-Trump dossier was paid for by Hillary Clinton, assembled with Russian (name removed by moderator)ut, and brought to the USA by Ohr and others and used as the basis for a FISA warrant.

And it is all disintegrating even as we speak.

GOP lawmakers introduce articles of impeachment against Rosenstein

A group of conservative House lawmakers on Wednesday introduced articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the top Department of Justice (DOJ) official overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

The impeachment document makes a series of charges against Rosenstein, the latest sign of escalating efforts among conservatives to oust the DOJ’s No. 2 official.

Conservative members led by Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), along with nine co-sponsors, introduced the articles shortly after a meeting with DOJ officials concerning document production.

"For 9 months we’ve warned them consequences were coming, and for 9 months we’ve heard the same excuses backed up by the same unacceptable conduct. Time is up and the consequences are here. It’s time to find a new Deputy Attorney General who is serious about accountability and transparency,” Meadows said in a statement.

“Multiple times we’ve caught DOJ officials hiding information from Congress, withholding relevant documents, or even outright ignoring Congressional subpoenas—and now we have evidence that Mr. Rosenstein signed off on a document using unverified political opposition research as a cornerstone of a FISA application to spy on an American citizen working for the Trump campaign," Meadows continued.

The FBI would have to prove that the motive for the payment was made specifically to hide the information for a run for office.

The case can be made that his motive was for his own privacy, personal relations, business relations, etc…

This would be a tough sell in court and the judge that gave authorization for any subpoena without taking into account the foregoing should be disbarred.

Is it not also possible that Manafort is a tax cheat? Just asking

Absolutely, but are you not puzzled as to why he is facing a 305 year prison sentence?

If you can view the video, diGenova has the answer.
I assumed it was because the prosecution was going for consecutive sentences instead of concurrent.

The FISA application also mentions the (unvarnished) opinion of some American intelligence officer to the effect that he believed the Russians probably had some effect on the election. If this was about Page, it wouldn’t have been said after Page left the campaign. It was always about Trump, and still is.
