Here is another good article:

Israeli Legitimacy, the Holocaust and Iran

TH has written recently on the Iranian President’s Conference intended to question the history of the Holocaust - the implementation of Hitler’s “Final Soluton” against Jews from roughly 1942 to 1945. In fact, the German program which launched the Holocaust was entitled the “Kristallnacht”; it occurred in 1938. The program accelerated into a formal policy of extermination in 1942 as WWII raged and expanded. It grew to encompass Jewish populations outside of Germany as the Reich conquered territory, accumulated the local Jewish population and exported them to extermination camps.

The Holocaust is generally accepted as the most thoroughly organized and documented genocide in history. There are those who argue it did not happen, or did not happen in the scale described; but those claims succumb to the remarkably detailed German accounts of the genocide.

So what does the Holocaust have to with with Israel?

Thnaks for the link-great analysis

The real problem with the holocaust is the publicity it gets, it truly was a terrible event…BUT it is too often paraded as the one and only genocide in which nothing else is worth mentioning or worse yet that nothing else exists.
There were many genocides that for some strange reason are not mentioned or downplayed, a few that come to mind:
-The Turks who killed over 1M Christians and were the inspiriation for Hitler
-The Soviets who killed far more than the Nazis
-The Sudanese gov today who has killed or destroyed the lives of over a million Christians and is still doing so.
These are 3 of many large scale genocides and yet we are lucky if we can find a single line devoted to them in the textbooks or in the media.

I am glad this event took place in Iran, it is a good wake up call that being fed the Holocaust alone is very irresponsible for a society like ours.

p.s. I dont want to forget the infant holocaust of abortion in our own culture today which has cost more lives than any of those others.

Catholic Dude,

I agree people should learn history. However that doesn’t mean you deny the Holocaust because other people have died throughout the centuries.

The Iranians were not saying to lean about your world. Your talking about a government here that doesn’t allow their people to access the Internet, surpresses outside news sources, supppresses internal news sources and suppresses the news about the stoning of women in Iran and the hanging flogging then hanging of 14 year old homosexuals.

There is no evidence that the purpose of the event in Iran was not to push the learning of history. You don’t assemble the kinds of people they assembled to promote scholarship.
