Was it because he touched the ark?

The way the text reads, it seems God was already angry with him.

It was a violation of divine law to touch the ark. When he did, he was striken dead. Refer to Numbers 4:15, below:

"Only after Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sacred objects and all their utensils on breaking camp, shall the Kohathites enter to carry them. But **they shall not touch the sacred objects; if they do they will die. **These, then, are the objects in the meeting tent that the Kohathites shall carry.

Uzzah was taken becuase he lacked Faith in the Lord and displayed it publicly. God had instructed no one was to touch the Ark. Uzah’s steadying of the Ark was a public display that he did not trust God to look after his own Ark.

The term anger is merely imperfect man trying to descibe the thyughts of the Lord-something we can never really accomplish

So what did a loving God tell Uzzah when he took him?
Why does it matter? We don’t know because that part isn’t in the Bible. But we do know that Uzzah was striken dead for touching the arc because it violated the rule God had set forth.

Why does it matter?
Just curious, that’s all. Sometimes there’s a perfectly logical answer to a question and sometimes there’s not.

Is is like Adam and Eve eating the apple, seemingly harmless but never the less against the rules?

Who knows why? All we can do is speculate.

Maybe Uzzah was thinking he would be a big hero for ‘saving’ the Arc from falling. People see our actions, but God reads what is in our heart.

The people saw Uzzah violate the instruction not to touch the Arc, and they saw him die. I bet no one else would have wanted to touch it after that.

They were lucky God waited till then to strike anyone. The Ark should never have been transported in an ox-cart in the first place. The Law stated that only Levites can carry the Ark and using the carrying poles.

After Uzzah’s punishment, David aborted the transport until it could be retrieved in the proper manner. Only then was David able to do his dancing entrance into Jerusalem.

I never did understand this story, until I looked at it in the light of Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant…
Then, I could see, that this was a foreshadowing of her as the virgin mother of our Lord.

Whatever Uzzah’s motives may have been, we cannot know at this stage. We can, however, learn from this OT tale, of the way in which the coming of Jesus Christ into the world as Saviour was told over & over again in the Jewish Scriptures.

So what did a loving God tell Uzzah when he took him?
My understanding is that the Ark is a foretelling story about Mary.

I’m guessing that the loving God told Uzzah, when He took him, that the Ark needed to be untouched, to be proof that Mary was untouched/virgin.

I’m guessing God had a plan; and poor ole Uzzah was a part of it. Maybe Uzzah was blessed to be part of that plan; but I am just speculating.
