I do believe it, because if you think that the policies of the Republican and Democratic parties in the United States are socialism, you obviously do not understand socialism. Even the Democratic Party, which is often described as “leftist” by American conservatives, is not really a left-wing party, but more of a centrist party and not too dissimilar to the British Conservative Party. As for the Republicans, I would be fascinated to know in what ways you would consider it to be socialist. Do you think Ronald Reagan was a socialist? Are you at all familiar with the term ‘Reaganomics’? It certainly doesn’t describe a form of socialism.
