Why won’t the Protestant non-Catholic Christians here, argue with the real Catholic Apologists at CAF?

Over the years here at CAF, I have seen countless self-proclaim “experts” on Christianity who will argue with Catholics on these forums until they are blue in the face, writing things like, “I have a Master’s in Divinity” but I don’t ever see a Protestant response from these individuals to a real Catholic Apologist.

Why won’t our Protestant friends take on some of the real Catholic Apologists from our time? Catholics here, take on Calvin and Luther all the time.

Why won’t they take on the Apologists from our time or even from this web site, the home page here at CAF?

It’s easy, for example, a Protestant can go here and cut and past a comment from a Jimmy Akin or Karl Keating article and provide the Protestant response.

This way, they can they show all of us, “non-informed Catholics”, how and why we are wrong in our defense of Catholicism.

I’m waiting, tell me what Catholic Apologist got it “wrong” and why and provide a real Protestant response….If you can.

Jimmy,

I suppose it never occurs to you that some of us are here for purposes other than showing that Catholics are “wrong.” I have no such agenda in my participation here. I enjoy some of the discussions and I welcome the occasional opportunity to correct some misinformation about Lutherans but I’m not here to argue the “right or wrong” of Catholicism.

There are Protestants in this forum with a Master’s in Divinity?

Although not a Protestant, even i have my own website; for Catholics. I don’t have a Master’s degree though. 😦 I would expect someone of that level to have professional websites of their own; similar to that of Alpha & Omega Ministries. Why waste bandwidth here when you can offer so much more with a Master’s degree? :twocents:

Mainly, because apologetics is not about arguing. It’s about defending the faith in the midst of the secular world.

This post should prove to everyone your true colors. Why does it have to ge about arguing? Why do you want to even encourage it Sure, some people will seek it out, but why be part of the problem? Come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time I saw a thread that was an out-right challenge or attack on catholics here. But if we look close at the title of your threads it’s plain as day as to what your motives are.

Zero the Hero: Well, I am not on the level of a John Calvin, and I figure your are not on the level of a Thomas Aquinas. Why cannot we dialogue at the lay level?

I wanted to laugh at that one, but I am not too sure how you meant it. Could you explain so I don’t assume anything? Thanks.

Well, yes in order to be efficient in ministerial work, you ought to have a Master’s in Divinity. You have to know what you are preaching about and should educate the congregation rightly. Question is, do the different denominational Bible colleges recognize one another’s teaching authority and wisdom? If you are from a Presbyterian college, would your degree be valid in the Lutheran church?

I suppose a Protestant with a Master’s in Divinity would be more professional in their responses to Catholics when debating. 🤷

Amen to that. Or at least they should be.

I :
Yes. Absolutely depending upon the denomination. In United Methodism, the following denominational seminaries are acceptable:
gbhem.org/site/c.lsKSL3POLvF/b.3474253/k.7A76/University_SenateApproved_Seminaries.htm

You will find Presbyterians, Lutherans, Disciples of Christ, Brethren, Mennonite, and others.

Although I’m not Protestant, I’d like to add a few thoughts to this thread.

First since I was away from the Catholic Church (Yes I"m a cradle Catholic) for over 20 some years, I do understand where some of the Protestant thoughts are coming from, not that I agree with all their thoughts, but I do understand why some of their answers are the way they are.

They are just like Catholics in one sense, they only know what they are taught. If they were raised, “Craddle Protestants” they don’t know any other way. (by the way I’m not knocking our Brother and Sister Protestants, just stateing a fact.)

It did me a whirl of good in a lot of ways to be away from the Catholic Church, for now I can understand some of our Protestant brothers and sisters better, their point of view of what they have been taught. But I must confess, being blessed as a Craddle Catholic and having gone through CC until 12th grade, I never could “accept” a lot of their teachings, but at least I can understand why they may not accept all the Catholic Teachings.

I would like to suggest to a lot of our Brothers and Sisters that are Protestants, it would do you a lot of good to “Study” the Catholic Religion. No I’m not trying to convert you, not at all. But it would help “bridge the gap” in understanding each others Religion. It would help each Protestant to know what we “really” believe as Catholics and not what their church is teaching them we believe.

Now I know many, (maybe not all) Protestants won’t take the time on their own to find out what we, as Catholics really believe, it’s eaiser to let someone else teach them/us. I know this for a fact, as I did just that. I learned what the Protestants Churchs think of the Catholics from Studying with them and their material in their Bible Studies and also by attending their churchs.

True it’s a challenge, to take the time to really study the Catholic Religion but one worth taking. After all, just what if, what your church is teaching isn’t all the Truth? And truely what do you have to loose by taking the time to Study the Catholic Faith? It doesn’t mean you have to become Catholic.

After all I spent 20 plus years going to Protesent Chruchs, studing with them in Bible Studies, being involved in their church, and yet I found, them to be friendly, true I learned a lot, but I also knew what they didn’t want to teach and when I’d ask a question about some things, they would always tell me it wasn’t important, or they’d beat around the bush on the topic.

This was lead me back to the Catholic Church…the fact they didn’t want to talk about all the Truths…just part of them. (I don’t say this to offend anyone, yet I know both sides and what is missing.)

This is a strawman arguement. How do you know protestants here never discuss theology with real apologists?

Do you really even consider us friends?

They might be scared of people like you flaming them, maybe thats why?

I give my answers they are never satisfactory, I see no need to argue it with people, ask me questions Jimmy, I’ll answer them to the best of my abilities.

Zero the Hero: I mean that I don’t have a master of divinity, and I am assuming you dont have one either. I could be wrong. But I was looking to dialogue with lay Catholics, rather than give an analysis of Thomas’ Summa Theologica.

I don’t have a Masters in anything much less Divinity, but I am always up for giving my thoughts and opinions on most topics. If you want to know the protestants opinion on something post up a link to it and ask.

Because it is more fun arguing with each other.

Duh.

WE have had A LOT of well educated non-Catholic posters. I am thankful for it. I think you attract a different kind of religious poster on a CAtholic site.

Besides, if they only wanted to beat up the pros, who will fight me? 🤷
