Why won't non-Catholic Christians recite the Holy Rosary?

The words in bold… you just Contradicted yourself. AND NO FAITH DOES NOT SAVE.

The blo.od of Jesus Christ is the only Thing that Saves. Nothing else. Not budha, Not faith, not even grace. The blo.od of jesus is the only thing, If you do not have the blo.od of jesus Christ covering you, then no amount of Grace or Faith is gonna save you. And no what you saying about james is wrong. Again something Typical protestants do is take what is said in the bible out of context to fit what you want to say.

James is writting to a church that SAYS they believe but do nothing. He is saying you MUST DO SOMETHING, other wise you are no better then Demons. Demon’s believe, they have better faith then us, but are damned.

YOU MUST WORK. If you dont you are worthless and Christ will cut you down. Get over it and work or dont and sit in your own Laziness and burn.

The Changing love of Christ will make you work. You will want to spread the love of God. Because you want people to feel that Love that you do. IF you have no desire to Spread and further the Kingdom of God in any way shape or form, guess what your not saved and damned and no better then the Demons.
You are incorrect. Faith does save. Read these verses below and tell me if they says faith save or does not save.

Faith does save, but we must cooperate with God’s grace and let it change our lives. “Faith without works is dead” simply means that God’s good works will come forth from us if we cooperate with God’s grace. But we do have to DO something. We have to cooperate.

No you are so wrong, Faith does not save, If you do not bow your heart to the King and Confess Jesus is Lord, then no amount of Faith will Save you. You will end up being one of those people who says “Lord, Lord” and he will answer, “I never knew you.”

See what you missing, is that you are saying that faith saves, but those same Bible verses that you quote prove you wrong, WE are Saved by GRACE… Grace grace grace, that grace is Jesus, WE are saved by GRACE through faith, not faith through Grace. There is a big difference when you say we are saved by Faith, (because we aren’t) Rather then Grace Through Faith(Which we are) The difference says that Grace causes us, No compels, us to do good works and become better then we are, were as faith has no strings attached, I can say a prayer and be done as long as my Soul, through Faith, is taken care of, my actions are not required of me. That is what you are saying when you say we are saved by faith, That is Gnosticism. Gnosticism is of the devil.

WE are SAVE by GRACE, through Faith, not by works… Exactly Works dont save you, that Grace does, but you must work or else you are Fruitless. The Pharisees were fruitless and Jesus said to them “The Axe is already at the root of the trees.”

NO amout of bible verses will wipe this away. you must have grace, you must have faith, you must work out your faith with fear and trembling, you must Fight against the darkness of the devil. You must work to show your faith and the grace and the hope that you have, other wise, the gift is wasted on you. DO you remember the parable of the Talents and the Servants, What happened to the Servant that did nothing with his Talent? God removed his talent gave it to the ones that did what they were told and then cast the Disobedient servant into outer darkness. People who have grace and faith, but do not work ,run the risk of having their “Talents removed and cast into outer Darkness”.

Again protestants Justify that we are saved by grace through faith alone, so they can justify their own laziness…

You are incorrect. Faith does save…
Acts 16:31

They said, "**Believe **in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved,
NASU
And his commandment is this: we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another just as he commanded us.
1 John 3, 23

Belief in Jesus means obeying his commandments. All the commandments rest on these two greatest ones: to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, and soul, and our neighbor as ourself.
Eph 2:8-10
8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith… 9 not as a result of works”
NASU
Therefore, its value is for you who have faith, but for those without faith: “The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and “A stone that will make people stumble, and a rock that will make them fall.” They stumble by disobeying the word, as is their destiny.
1 Peter 2, 7-8

Having faith means being faithful to our Lord’s teachings and observing his commandments which requires doing works of love in order to be saved. Like I already said above, Paul is condemning the works of Mosaic law which are done in a legalistic sense outside the system of God’s grace. With the coming of Christ only those works done in grace by faith can save us. These are works done strictly out of love for God and our neighbor whereby we do not presume that we make God indebted to us. It is sheer vanity to presume that we make God obligated to repay us merely by observing legal ordinances and the letter of the law. Christ calls us to observe the spirit of the law, that of love and freedom which is written in our hearts. Although God rewards us for these good works done in his grace, the reaping of a temporal or eternal reward and the avoidance of punishment are not the objects of our acts. And since it is initially by the grace of God (a free unmerited gift) we are able to perform these good works, we attribute them first and foremost to God. We merit God’s favor and sanctification for ourselves and others by freely cooperating with the work of God’s grace out of love.

For through the Spirit, by faith, we await the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision or uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
Galatians 5, 5-6

John 3:36
36 “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life”
Again, true faith amounts to being obedient - persevering in good works done in grace, without which we cannot be saved.

Through him* we have received the grace of apostleship, to bring about the obedience of faith**, for the sake of his name, among all the Gentiles, among whom you are also, who are called to belong to our Lord Jesus Christ.*
Romans 1, 5

“For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to lead the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed
Romans 15, 18

“We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers, unceasingly calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love
1 Thessalonians 1, 2-3

Titus 3:5
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy,
NASU
Again, there is a clear distinction between works of law or obligation and works done in God’s grace purely out of love and not for the sake of following rules to obtain divine benefits owed to us.

“This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to devote themselves to good works
Titus 3, 8

If we fail to persevere to the end in doing good works by the grace of God, we’ll forfeit our salvation.
2 Tim 3:15-16
15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
NASU
Faith in Christ must be behind every good work in order for it to be a work of grace by which we are justified in place of the law.

But now we are released from the law, dead to what held us captive, so that we may* serve in the newness of the spirit** and not under the obsolete letter.*
Romans 7, 6

But if by grace, it is no longer because of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
Romans 11, 6

Jesus has fulfilled the law in his person, so we are justified by faithfully observing his teachings and commandments and not the mere letter of the law.

For Christ is the end of the law for the justification of everyone who has faith.
Romans 10, 4

sounds like faith saves doesn’t it.
It sounds more like an obedient faith working through love. :yup:

“The Rosary will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.”
Our Lady of the Rosary

Read below how the Rich man in hell prayed to Abraham a saint of heaven:

There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen; and feasted sumptuously every day. 20 And there was a certain beggar, named Lazarus, who lay at his gate, full of sores, 21 Desiring to be filled with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table, and no one did give him; moreover the dogs came, and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom. And the rich man also died: and he was buried in hell. 23 And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom: 24 And he cried, and said: Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, to cool my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame. 25 And Abraham said to him: Son, remember that thou didst receive good things in thy lifetime, and likewise Lazareth evil things, but now he is comforted; and thou art tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you, there is fixed a great chaos: so that they who would pass from hence to you, cannot, nor from thence come hither. 27 And he said: Then, father, I beseech thee, that thou wouldst send him to my father’s house, for I have five brethren, 28 That he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torments. 29 And Abraham said to him: They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 But he said: No, father Abraham: but if one went to them from the dead, they will do penance. 31 And he said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they believe, if one rise again from the dead.

So if Abraham can hear the prayer of the richman in hell, how much more can Abraham or Virgin Mary hear our prayers?

Is it wrong to pray to anyone else but God? Well Jesus Told the Story of the Rich Man and Lazarus above and Jesus did not add "oh by the way do not pray to Abraham.

As for repetition of prayers, Jesus taught us to prayer the Our Father, when we pray. So my point is do we say the Our Father only once in our life time FOR FEAR OF BEING REPETITIVE? Because if we say the Our Father twice in our life time that is repetition. Truth is any prayer can be repeated over and over again. By the way the Our Father was a pre written prayer.

Isn’t that conversation between people in heaven and hell? Not earth and hell or heaven and earth. At least that is how I have always seen it. Just a question…

Good works come after salvation. Since we are dead in our sins we can not do anything to remedy that situation. God does it all for us. If you look up the mention of good works in the bible all the time it refers to people doing saomething after salvation.

For by grace are you saved by faith and that not of yourself, it is a gift of God and not works, Eph 2:8-9. Does this passage say that works are part of our salvation?

The only thing the user has said in this thread is, “Are you saved? Are you saved? Are you saved? Are you saved? Are you saved? Are you saved?”

Again, topic = rosary, not who is saved and who isn’t.

Well are you?:😉

This is what I say when I am asked if I am saved–heard this in Church.🙂

“Yes, I’m saved – over, and over, and over again through baptism and the renewal of my baptismal vows and by asking for and receiving forgiveness when I go astray.”

Praise God!

Sometimes it is best to take a breath(pray 🙂 ) and just answer the question even when you find that it does not go with the topic at hand.

Where do you find any mention of the rosary in the Bible?🤷
The Church had just been born and was starting to mature and develop at the time the New Testament was written. Our Lord gave us the Rosary through his Blessed Mother when he judged it was time. Jesus promised to be with His Church until the end of time, and he promised to send his bride the Paraclete, the Spirit of truth, to speak what he hears to her until then.

The Rosary was given to St. Dominic by the Blessed Virgin Mary when she appeared to him in the church of Prouille in the year 1214. She told him that the recitation of the Rosary and the contemplation of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus would help defeat heresies.

Our Lord makes his will known to us first and foremost through His Church, which is “the pillar and foundation of the truth,” St. Paul tells us, not the Bible.

Many Protestants contend that the use of prayer beads is of pre-Christian pagan religious origin and is thus foreign to the Christian faith, but they overlook or deny the fact that the sacramental ritual of baptism with water was practiced among ancient pagan religious cults before John the Baptist appeared.

great points Good Fella (what kind of name is that anyway my Catholic friend?). Indeed most of the bible is a collection of pagan myths, why? Because it’s not true. Sorry guys!

I’d rather read a good book by Adam Smith or John Locke (if we’re going to read the writings of ancient men … it might as well be useful right).

Your signature stated that you have been catholic your whole life. So you must still be catholic. You know, like, once a marine always a marine.😉

Where is it written in the Bible that the Holy Book is the only medium of divine revelation or that it’s a catechism that definitively prescribes certain devotions and practices? Sola Scriptura is unbiblical. You’re arguing from a faulty premise; hence you arrive at wrong conclusions. Besides, what the scriptures teach us about prayer and the role of human mediation in the economy of salvation supports the recitation of the Rosary.

Christians have been reciting the Rosary for centuries long before Protestantism arose. By the way, Martin Luther died with a Rosary in his hand. He was devoted to our Blessed Mother until the day he passed away. I hope that by the prayerful intercession of Mary he obtained the grace of repentance for having scattered Christ’s sheep with his heresies. It wasn’t until a century after his death that Protestants in general abandoned their devotion to Mary and buried her. This is understandable since they were severed from the historic Christian faith and Apostolic Tradition being outside the Church.

Paul exhorted the faithful to follow Apostolic Tradition and not Scripture alone. This tradition did not expire with the death of the last apostle. It has continued to grow and expand under the Apostolic teaching authority and governance of the Church hierarchy.

I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them unto you.
1 Corinthians 11, 2

And what you heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will have the ability to teach others as well.
2 Timothy 2, 2

The apostles couldn’t have encouraged the faithful to recite the Rosary, for this form of devotion hadn’t yet existed. But they did commend us to pray for one another and appeal to righteous people for their prayers giving us an example, too. The active members of the mystical body of Christ include the living and the departed saints. Your understanding of the mystical body of Christ is probably unbiblical and faulty to begin with which would explain why you fail to appreciate our devotion to our Lady of the Rosary.

" Then we commemorate also those who have fallen asleep before us; first Patriarchs, Prophets, Apostles, Martyrs, that at their prayers and intercessions God would receive our petition. Then on behalf also of the Holy Fathers and Bishops who have fallen asleep before us, and in a word of all who in past years have fallen asleep among us, believing that it will be a very great benefit to the souls, for whom the supplication is put up, while that holy and most awful sacrifice is set forth."
Cyril of Jerusalem (A.D. 350)

Where is it found in the Bible. Chapter and verse please.
DLClark,

Welcome to CAF!

I see that Good Fella has provided an excellent and detailed response to your question…

Good Fella is one of the better posters here at CAF in my opinion.

That being said, I noticed that you haven’t responded back, why not? What’s the problem? I’ll tell you what I believe the problem is (in general). Many Protestant, non-Catholic Christians use a handful of Bible verses to support their position and their entire theology. In other words, there is a minimizing or degrading of Christianity occurring.

Jesus Christ, His Life, Death and Resurrection, the entire Bible and Christianity, should not and cannot be summarized or summed up, using a handful of Bible verses.

The problem for Protestants (in general) is that the Bible is a Catholic Book, written for and approved by Catholics and for Catholics, therefore, “Protestant verses” only work, when taken out of context. Therefore, it follows that there really are no “Protestant verses”…meaning, verses that support Protestantism over Catholicism.

I suggest that you go to the CAF Home Page and read some articles there and I suggest that you read more posts from posters like Good Fella and other Catholics here at CAF who know their Catholic Faith and who will take the time to provide a detailed and sourced response.

Stick around, I think that you will be surprised to learn how “Catholic” the Bible is…

Good luck in your journey.

Thank you for another excellent post Good Fella!

God Bless You!
