Light? Never.Nachos and a Corona? Light or regular?
Gotta be light Steve!!!Light? Never.
I worship the God and Jesus of the Bible. Not sure about you.at least mormons and we catholics can agree that we do not worship the same God; and, we do not worship the same Jesus.
Why? Who are you to set the agenda for “dialogue between mormons and catholics”?let that be the starting point in all dialogue between mormons and catholics.
Same could be said of those who say they are the ones who should choose the questions others can ask. Why? Who are you to set the agenda for “dialogue between mormons and catholics”?
What that proves is that Paul was an Apostle, but definitely not a physician! It’s not in the Bible.
But i do find it interesting that the Bible does say this in 1 Timothy 5:23
23 You should give up drinking only water and have a little wine for the sake of your digestion and the frequent bouts of illness that you have.
But Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit when he wrote this. So this means the Holy Spirit isn’t a physician! What that proves is that Paul was an Apostle, but definitely not a physician!![]()
If you examine more carefully how the term “professors of religion” is used in the context of JS–H, it becomes clear that it refers to the priests, ministers, preachers, and activists of the respective religions, not the mere adherents. That is nonsense, professor does not mean "ministers, preachers, activists of the respective churches; not the churches themselves. It refers to those who were trying to “build up churches unto themselves”. From Webster’s on-line:
From Webster’s 1828 dictionary also on-line:
The primary definition then and now is someone who avows or declares, that is exactly what all Christians do when they recite the creed. So in a sentence that calls creeds abominations and professors corrupt, it is obvious that the first definition of professor is being used. I’ve seen many LDS contort this sentence as you have done here, but no where has anyone ever shown JS explaining it in the way you and so many others have. So until there is an explanation from JS it stands as calling all who profess a creed corrupt and believe in an abomination. As Rebecca pointed out we believers are the church, so that line is calling both the members and churches corrupt and their beliefs and abomination.
Sorry, don’t get it.And this is exactly why the LDS god is weak, dishonest and cruel
Uh im sorry but you dont. Your god was once a man. I believe it was J.S that said “As man is, god once was” Your church also believes men will become gods and inherit a planet. If you believe in what your church teaches then you do not worship the One True God. Same thing for Jesus too. He is one with God and the Holy Spirit.I worship the God and Jesus of the Bible. Not sure about you.
Im assuming JS stands for joe smith right? Who is he to pick what a word means? We have seen this time after time with mormons. They choose the definition(s) of what words mean to better suite their beliefs. If you examine more carefully how the term “professors of religion” is used in the context of JS–H, it becomes clear that it refers to the priests, ministers, preachers, and activists of the respective religions, not the mere adherents.
That is your opinion, which you are entitled to; but it doesn’t prove anything.that the LDS Church was a restoration. It isn’t. It is a church chock full of false doctrine
Well that was not the first time that he was wrong about something.except Bruce R McKonkie CALLED the Catholic Church the Great and Abominable Church…ever heard of him?
That is a strange one. So you reckon we should wilfully drink poison, knowing that it is poison, and then trust God that he will save us? Never heard of that before. Where did you get that idea from?shoulda had more faith God would protect them while adhering to the commandment of Christ to use wine
Its poison if you consume large amounts of it in one sitting. But to partake of it in moderation is okay. So Jesus was filling Himself with poison? That is a strange one. So you reckon we should wilfully drink poison, knowing that it is poison, and then trust God that he will save us? Never heard of that before. Where did you get that idea from?
There is a difference between “another gospel” and a “restored gospel”.this falls under the warning from God about “if any man preaches a different Gospel”
Mormons, however, are not pacifists! They believe in doing military service. One reason to become a Jehovah’s Witness is their pacifism. They refuse to serve in the military. A reason to be Mormon is clean living. I believe they have a long life expectancy.
I think one should respect everyone’s choice of religion. As an aside, why would anyone want to be part of the Muslim Religion, given their propensity for terrorism? If one is going to ‘bash’ Mormans and JW’s’ why not ask the question, Why would anyone want to be Muslim? Why would anyone join today given the terrorist acts that have occurred across various countries in the name of Allah? Think about that…
As I said, I am not going to discuss the subject of the Apostasy any further in this thread. If you are interested in that subject, start a new thread, and I will join you there and answer your questions.I can see how individuals can apostasize, but the whole of God’s church? Why should the newly restored churches be any more immune from apostasy than the original? Since a restored church is established by God like the original, if it fails, then it means God has failed, since the function of God’s church is to teach the God’s gospel.
Christianity is full of symbolic representations. Doesn’t baptism represent the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Didn’t the brazen serpent that Moses lifted up symbolise Jesus Christ? And there are lots more one could think of.The symbolic or representational nature of the bread and beverage has always puzzled me. I mean, why should one need bread and wine, or grape juice, or water to focus on Jesus? Seems odd to me.
The Sacrament is in remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This is taught in the NT.Exactly. if you’re just going to basically sit around and remember Jesus you might as well go with nachos and a cold Corona. Bread and wine really don’t make any sense outside of the sacrament.
