Why would God care who we have sex with?

NEWCATHOLICJEFF;6407521:
You’re right. If you don’t subscribe to sola scriptura, you’re not a real Christian. Hmmm, see how easy it is to dismiss other Christians?
Yep…pretty easy. In fact you could create one that allows you to have multiple wives, baptize the dead, become a god and call it Christian. You just can’t force others to swallow that Kool-Aid, unless you have a gun and force a conversion…even then maybe not. Lot’s of Lions were fed because some people refused to bend.

You could splinter another older church that used to prohibit contraception, gay marriage, and ordination of women, and try and call it Christian… but some would doubt your sincerity… Kinda like demanding that everyone call you Pro-Choice instead of Pro-Death.

Anyone can take communion…walk up and receive it even if in mortal sin. All the above being said you can’t change fundamental laws of nature just because you want to…You can try… “Paint me a pretty picture…screamed the blind man, while standing behind a deaf artist”.

You know we can have civil unions and make it law…same benefits, and even create an unfair civil union tax just like my wife and I pay. You can call it a marriage. You can call it a Hot-Dog… but if it is not entered into by two people capable of creating life, by the God given age old method of procreation, then it will not be a marriage as defined by the church… labeling someone that has sexual relations with someone of the same sex as straight, although you could do it, would likely not be believed as real.Wishing just does not make it so.

That being said God cares who you have sex with because he wants sex as an expression of love, total giving, and as a partner in his creation of life. Having an act of sex with someone other then your spouse is really nothing more then masturbation ,and although gay “couples” may have developed strong attachments to each other, they can never know the deep love, as god intended, to someone that has participated with them in the creation of life. That being said the creation of life is not the only component of marriage. As the Church teaches the spouses must have a desire to remain faithful to each other, committed for life. Total giving… total sacrifice, total surrender… total Love.

In the end God cares because he wants that love, it is the same type of love he has for you.

You can call an orange and apple but it just wont taste the same.

There are* lots ***
of married homosexuals, some are even married in real Christian Church’s, by Christian ministers. Their marriages are often blessed in the name of God…

Are you talking about homosexuals of the same sex married to each other?

The single largest Protestant denomination in Canada, the United Church of Canada, happily marries and gives Gods blessing while marrying homosexuals.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage_in_Canada

‘The largest Protestant denomination in the country, the United Church of Canada, offers church weddings to same-sex couples and supports same-sex marriages, testifying to this effect during the cross-country Justice Committee hearings. Unitarian Universalist congregations also solemnize same-sex marriages, as do the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and the Metropolitan Community Church. Some progressive Jewish congregations and some within the Anglican Church have also supported same-sex marriage.’

united-church.ca/exploring/marriage

We affirm that marriage is a gift of God through which Christians make a covenant with one another and with God. This section provides an overview of marriage, including same-sex marriage, within the United Church.

I demand that the orange I eat shall taste like and apple… How come it does not taste like an apple? Maybe because it just isn’t.

Many Christians, within the last 2000 years also kept slaves. If I’m not mistaken, such practices are now frowned upon and are no longer practiced in the Western world.

Those Christians worshiped the one true God and still kept slaves.

Thankfully, societies and peoples social values evolve and in most cases, the religions follow along, albeit much more slowly.
As far as I remember from history classes the change basically happened simultaneously… And by the way: There was slavery before Christianity and during New Testament times it has not been condemned nor condoned. The most prominent example can be found in Philemon.
Slavery was part of society for the longest time and you cannot blame religion for that. Slaves in antiquity never tried to end slavery in general, though they tried to end their personal slavery (and those who were set free then took slaves themselves).
I would venture to say that slavery is part of your past as well as my past in one or the other way. (My ancestors were enslaved by the Romans for fighting back.)
Keeping slaves is not about the religion it is about the society. You cannot go ahead and blame these people for that. By the way… the Bible states that before God everybody is the same, but that a slave (in a society with slaves) can remain in the condition in which God has called them. “Each man must remain in that condition in which he was called. Were you called while a slave? Do not worry about it; but if you are able also to become free, rather do that.”

But you still haven’t supplied any numbers. You said “lots.” That’s a relative term. If you fill up a room with married homosexuals, you can say lots. But if you are numbering the whole population of a country, “lots” becomes very few.

Which is it?

You are for legalizing same sex marriages. Would you also be for legalizing marriages between mother and son, father and daughter?

Why or why not? Remember, your ultimate criteria is whether an act is done between consenting adults.

If you’re going to endlessly play ’ what if’s…’, My answer for every single ’ what if ’ scenario shall remain the same.

Godless morality doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Reason, logic, intelligence, compassion, empathy, the golden rule and societal values can all be used when reaching decisions.

What’s the alternative?

’ A supernatural God that we can’t see has told us what we should do?’

No thank you. :nope:

We agree 100% there. For all these reasons homosexual marriage goes against common sense, as do incest and sado-masochistic relationships. You can be an atheist and still find these perversions repulsive to common sense.

For all these reasons homosexual marriage goes against common sense,
Two adults who consent to having sex with each other, doesn’t offend common sense.

Two strangers, who agree to have unprotected sex with each other, does offend common sense.
My own sense of morality, coupled with the danger that familial sexual relations has on the gene pool, along with the potential for abuse and mental instability…I agree. A perversion and a crime.
sado-masochistic relationships.
Amongst consenting adults, fine by me.

And where is your evidence that God created man with a tendency to lust?
I want to build off this…man was created in the eyes of God and created in the image of God. if a person desires a holy life then he/she lives a life such as the saints. The least desired you are the more likely you will live in a lifestyle of sin. so we are called to holy people connected to God. yet some fall into the depths of sin. I don’t know where Im going with this cause I have tones of thoughts running through my head, but maybe I could return to it?

Two strangers, who agree to have unprotected sex with each other, does offend common sense.

Two strangers who agree to have protected sex with each other does not offend? This is offensive to my common sense. What if one of the strangers is carrying a knife and plans to use it? Or what if the stranger plans to kidnap a woman and sell her into sexual slavery? Would it be common sense to risk your life or your safety for a few minutes of pleasure with someone you don’t know when you could have the same few minutes of pleasure with someone you do know?

My own sense of morality, coupled with the danger that familial sexual relations has on the gene pool, along with the potential for abuse and mental instability…I agree. A perversion and a crime.

Homosexuals contribute nothing whatever to the gene pool. They are a genetic net 0 and therefore a genetic drag on the human race. And based on the homosexuals I have known, I would say they have every capacity for abuse and mental instability.

You say incest is “a perversion and a crime.” Ah, but at least the parts fit.

For these reasons also, God cares about with whom we have sex.

Fool, the golden rule is do unto others as they do unto you…where can you read it? IN THE BIBLE. most societal values develops from people themselves, not vise verse. currently you see a society bent backwards and turned upside down, giving into stupid worldly things that don’t matter and ultimately bring one closer to death. this may have happened form multiple reasons and paying attention to the golden rule as well as other guide lines that God has offered us is not one. all other examples given still have a large base surrounded by the history of Christianity. A Godless morality does not exist…you can try and say it does all you want, but in reality you pick and choose what is convenient to you from what has been established and what has been established is done so by God.

Biological and physiology, sex will create an impact on both sides. there are several scientific evidence to support that, I am sure. You can see it yourself through friends and family, unless you live in a bubble and think everything is fine. sex at an young age, homosexual sex, and any form of cheating separates a person from others around them, as well as themselves. there are several ways this may affect someone and it is never in a good way. so where is the logic in it?

side note…you have to learn to have sex. you learn on how to allow someone punching you or having their own ‘way’ with you. it does not come easily. you build into it. = we were not meant to lust.

My own sense of morality, coupled with the danger that familial sexual relations has on the gene pool, along with the potential for abuse and mental instability…I agree. A perversion and a crime.
This is very similar to the Church’s teaching on homosexual sex in that ultimately, it’s bad for society.

Prohibition of incest, by the way is very biblical.

Which brings up another question: By your own standards, is homosexual incest perverted? After all, we don’t have those gene pool considerations to worry about.

Living life, you take risks. If you think adults are regularly accosted and sold into sexual slavery, that is after they meet a stranger for casual sex… It’s also a paranoid and a statistical improbability. You’ve got a better chance of being struck by lightening.
Homosexuals contribute nothing whatever to the gene pool. They are a genetic net 0 and therefore a genetic drag on the human race.
Infertile married Catholic women contribute nothing to the gene pool. What’s your point?
And based on the homosexuals I have known, I would say they have every capacity for abuse and mental instability.
Don’t get me started on all those white male serial killers.

Of all the religious people I’ve known ( fill in blank with derogatory remark)

and just about every other mainstream religion in existence. Do you really think that Christianity, through Jesus invented the golden rule?

Infertile married women can adopt children, and nurture them to normal and fertile adulthood. They are then not a net 0 or drag on the human race.

What would be a real drag on any child’s life, would be to be adopted by homosexual parents. Any such child would have my blessing to run away from home and join the circus. 😉

Funny, that the kids don’t really care who their parents are having sex with. Just the religious strangers seem to care.

Do you really think that Christianity, through Jesus invented the golden rule?

Christianity did not invent the golden rule. Jesus affirmed it in such a way as to make it the central point of his preaching. Every Christian knows this rule. Many non-Christians know it because they hear it from Christians and the powerful folklore of Christianity.

The golden rule is common sense. God has planted it in our hearts as part of the natural law. Yet some have twisted it all out of proportion to its true meaning. Some act routinely as if they never heard it. Murderers and drug pushers, for example. The kind of people who would never be caught dead in a church.

Some Christians even are capable of violating the golden rule, as when they favor or vote for legalized abortion, while at the same time never commenting either way when a man is prosecuted for two homicides because he has killed a pregnant woman.

Homosexuality also goes against common sense. The Church has always taught this. It’s common sense … the parts don’t fit. 😉
