Why you should think that the Natural-Evolution of species is true

Ok. Discrete - individually separate and distinct.

So when he says “Environmental change isn’t discrete”, he’s saying it’s a continuous process.

As the environment is always changing, the things that live in it are also always changing.

Better?

In this day and age the environment is pretty stable, but I guess back in the day thing were crazy.

Nice dodge. Pope Pius XII was wrong. Pope Benedict XVI was wrong. Pope John Paul II was right. Something is wrong with this picture.

We’re dealing with geological time scales and I think you know that.

But moreover, climate change in the Holocene era is actually much more dynamic. In a geological scale, we’re in the midst of another extinction event. Probably caused mostly by mankind.

From the standpoint of the geological time scale, things were crazy… and actually they are right now as well. We’re just coming out of an ice-age, and have seen a massive growth in species diversity, followed by an almost immediate drop-off. According to a recent study, something like 90% of the species on Earth emerged around 200,000 years ago, which is a blink of an eye geologically.

Techno, you really are flippantly dismissing the hard works of thousands upon thousands of researchers…

I really don’t understand why you feel threatened by this discussion, because that’s the only explanation I can come up with for the way you are casually dismissing very important, well documented, information.

Seriously, do you think that accepting evolution is going to suddenly turn you into an atheist?

200k years is tiny.

If the age of the earth is scaled to a 24 hour day, then 200k years is like 8 or 9 seconds

I know, that’s why I called it a blink of an eye… well, at 8 seconds, maybe a micro-nap?

Lol. I guess recorded human history would be under a second, so a blink fits.

Opened a quick spread sheet.

4.5 billion years
5000 years recorded history
86400 seconds in a day
So if the age of the earth is scaled to a day, recorded history is 0.096 seconds. Or a tenth of a second.

Yeah, blink fits

There are 5 million species of fungi alone, How many " environmental changes" do you suppose it took evolution to produce all this?

Anywhere between one, and as many generations of fungi as there have been in its genetic line.

Somewhere in between those two numbers, and however many as God saw was necessary.

When evolutionist run into problems, all they do is add zeros to the dates.

Erm… no, they don’t…

Seriously, where did that even come from?

The age of the universe has been pretty consistent since the they used the Hubble telescope to measure red shifting at the most distant stars.

The age of the Earth has likewise been pretty consistent…

Seriously… you’re accusing them of doing things they don’t do. You’re acting like a fundamentalist, and are basically behaving the way atheists behave towards Christianity…

God, evolution doesn’t need any God.

Vague…

Seriosuly dude, stop being pruposefully obstuse. You’re acting like an atheist or a fundamentalist, and are not actually attacking what we’re claiming.

Just stop it, you’re making yourself look stupid.

Atheistic evolution doesn’t require God. We (most of us) reject atheistic evolution. We believe that evolution was guided by God. Why do you have so much trouble understanding this? Again, I have to compare you to atheists. For people who don’t want to know, no evidence will suffice…

God doesn’t need evolution, I agree; but that doesn’t mean He didn’t use evolution as the means to develop our physical bodies. The lack of need does not equate to a lack of actuality. God didn’t need to create us, yet here we are.

Careful.

Does my sparkplug need God? Or the Pythagorean Theorem?

Uh, you do realize that earth’s climate has changed pretty significantly even over the last 2000 years, right?
