Hey…wow I am basing my choices on what I see and have experienced. Sorry if it upsets you guys that I decided what I did. I have the right to call things like I see them and you know what…what a person does is between them and whatever they perceived the divine to be. You can’t answer for me and I can’t answer for you. It’s that simple. When I die I will know now won’t I so it doesn’t have to be any skin off your nose. In other words I am completely ready and hold no one to account but me.
As far as abortion I am personally a pro-mind your own business. I have never had an abortion and personally could not ever do it I don’t think. I however am not about to tell someone else what to do. I don’t have to live with their choices or decisions. I can’t live for them. I don’t know what they are going through and I have no right to tell them one way or another what to do. In short their choice to do so is between them and the divine.

Hi Merinass

You do not sound at peace on this thread and I do value the importance of being at peace and when we freely shake hands with each other on a Sunday morning saying Peace be with you, its amazingly little but strong act that possibly is so overlooked by those who do not know what it is like to be not at peace. Are you able to say you are at peace?

Yeh so we all have our trials in life but at least with God we have one who we can be sure with. God loves us and wants us to love him. You too. He wants you to love him, free to love him. Are you free to love the gods in wicca? We are free to love God in Christianity. Its nice and warm when we love God.

I am a Christian and I do not live in fear of hell or the devil. Heaven is where I am and Heaven is where I will go when I die. Hell and the devil are there to help keep goodness and help make sure God wins the day. (Bad English perhaps there but…) Even in my darkest hours I have a friend, in God and people whom I can call upon to lean on.So do you as you can ring a priest any time and if they are in they will listen and help you through. Can you do that in Wicca? Can you turn to Christ in Wicca? Can you truelly be at Peace in Wicca. Can you believe in God in Wicca? Being with God is far happier and peaceful than fighting spirits of wicca I would think?

I am not upset, Merinass.

I am concerned. Remember this: Just because an entity presents to you as an angel of light, it doesn’t mean you should trust the entity.

Christians have reasons to trust God. If you stay and read more you can find out.

God bless!

That isn’t how orthodox Christians think. We are all accountable for each other. I understand that this upsets you, but we aren’t going to convert to individualism in order to avoid upsetting you, any more than you are going to abandon it to avoid upsetting us.

But what becomes of the basic principle “do no harm to any living creature”? Abortion clearly does harm to a living creature. That’s one thing we can say about it with certainty. So your basic principle isn’t really that basic?

In other cases in which a life is being taken, do you apply this principle?

Now whether the exertion of state power is the best way to stop abortion–or any other great evil–that’s a different matter. I don’t think, for instance, that we should use American state power to stop the slaughter in Syria. I think that would violate the principle “first do no harm” (which is a good principle for everyone, not just Wiccans or medical doctors). And I think that prolife people need to think more carefully about the limits of state power when it comes to the intimate relationship between a mother and her child.

But we can’t simply say “mind your own business” in any instance where innocent life is being taken. We may question what means are appropriate, but we can’t simply say, “that’s your decision.”

I don’t see what the big deal about me going back to where I came from is. I love my Gods and Goddesses and have had wonderful experiences with them. Too many to count. Then I see all the…stuff and well truth be told I see very little live and let live.
Why be concerned? Its no one’s tail but mine if you are right and I am wrong.

Well in short I have been both…and I don’t agree. I look around on these threads and see where you all say you worship the same God, but then again you can’t agree on a whole lot. I’ve turned to many in my Wiccan circle…would you like names? I am not being smart here but you make it sound like you cannot comprehend getting peace with anything other than Christ…and truth be told as much as I have prayed I get pain in return. That alone tells me I am in the wrong place.

When you joined CAF, what were you looking for? yes you are responsible and accountable for yourself and your choices and decisions. What did you expect from a Catholic forum?
The problem with your view about abortion is that the child has no choice. It isn’t about the women’s business, there is another human involved even if the baby can’t speak, I am sure it would not choose to be ripped apart alive. Babies do feel pain. yes no one can tell you what to do but others can warn you that the stuff you are involved with is spiritually very dangerous and some on here have had come out of paganism and wicca and know where that is leading you. We are our brother’s keeper and there is an obligation to warn others not to enter a burning building. Now yes if you decide to enter the burning building that is your choice and as you stated, you will and are responsible. If you are looking for love consider that Christ loves you more than you can imagine and he open up his arms in love and died on a cross to show it.

what do you mean by pain? physical pain? emotional? Do you think that the pain might come from the things you have done in wicca and that these beings are not interested in you turning to Christ who can free you from them and show you real love?

Stay away from wicca. Wicca is all about the occult, and a direct as well as indirect worship of false gods and the evil one. It is dangerous and very much evil. Period.

It leaves the door wide open for many bad things to enter. It contradicts the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Well, I’ve been wondering about this. Does everything that might be associated with the cult have to be destroyed? I have a blanket my grandma left me with a sun and moon pattern. For years, I thought it was just a pretty pattern, but one day I realized it was similar to the Druid symbols from years ago. It is about the four seasons, and the moon phases. Is this wrong to keep?
Was your grandmother involved with the occult? If not, then don’t destroy her quilt! The OP was asking about her own involvement with wicca, which is witchcraft. Witchcraft involves the use of objects and usually, witches wear jewelry including pentagrams, crystals, etc. which have been “blessed” for use in a circle.

Anything that has been connected with Wicca or witchcraft should be destroyed. Not everything with a sun and moon on it is connected with witchcraft or the occult.

I understand how it is to feel an inward battle over which way is right. I also feel for you, because I know myself that Christianity has had and does still have those who have perverted the idea of Christ. A lot who have made terrible things, such as murders, or torture, or terrible abuse seem to be okay and act like Christ himself agrees and taught those kinds of beliefs. A lot also push legalism to the point that it drives others away, or distracts them from why they became a Christian in the first place. I want you to know that God ((Christ) does love you and understands your struggle. Do not be discouraged.

There are childhood memories that suggest she may have had some occult beliefs. I don’t just mean “not Christian.” But I don’t know what her motives would have been or which cult sect she would have been involved with. I really don’t know enough to know if it is right or wrong to keep it.

Maybe you can have it blessed by a priest. It’s probably not going to cause problems for you but having it blessed would remove any doubt in your mind.

Wow…what century are you from again? I am sorry but that is a crock. You might want to actually take your time, READ some of the posts in this thread and realize it is not dangerous one bit…says a Wiccan…thanks! As in yes…me…I have been…thought about converting but seeing this sort of talk puts me right on off. Sorry but I am just sayin.

I think I mentioned earlier in this thread that I had previously been involved in the occult before I converted…and I do still have a lot of all of those things packed away in the garage. How do you suggest “destroying” all of these things? A lot of them are metal, statues, etc; would sending it all to the dump be considered destroying them?
I have a lot of crystals…and those, I would not like to destroy, even though they were used in rituals etc. I was thinking of just submerging them in Holy Water, and then putting them away as they are beautiful. But even this reminds me of a pagan cleansing ritual! So I have just kept them all away until further notice…
Thanks for any (name removed by moderator)ut.

It’s a blanket…not the devil in cotton form. Even if she did use it for anything the effects would be long gone by now. Besides…in all of this where is the faith that your God protects you? How can a mere blanket really hurt you if you truly know that your God and Christ will protect you? Have you prayed and asked THEM? n
People fear what they don’t understand. It’s a shame that in this day and age that someone is scared of a blanket.

You know why those people came running out of paganism? Simple; they were there for the wrong reasons to begin with. You, dear are NOT my keeper nor am I yours. At the end of the day you are trying to debate something you know nothing about. As a person who has been Pagan for MANY years one thing we know is to go to the source for your information. That is why I am here. As far as abortion goes…well you know what that is just none of my business when it comes to another’s choice. I have two grown children. If my daughter wanted one I would listen to her and support whatever she chose. We all feel pain…thats life on Terra Firma. I do not buy into the propaganda shown. Most of the times the babies are aborted with the pill…so basically a miscarriage is induced. I don’t really like it…but you know I would rather a woman do that then keep the child and have another Casey Anthony on our hands…or Susan Smith…or many others.
One thing I am going to speak up about now is this…to hear you guys talk all women who have abortions are women who found the pregnancies inconvenient…I am hearing nothing about rape, incest and the like…so what about that huh? You would have the nerve to tell a girl( I actually have a young woman in mind who was repeatedly raped by not only her father but BOTH brothers as well and was pregnant as a result). to keep the baby…have the baby…give up the baby…not me man. I am sorry but she DID choose to abort it and I do not blame her one bit. Sure it isn’t the babies fault and it wasn’t hers either. This was two years ago and she still has nightmares and fears men. This young woman (she just turned 18 in April) most likely will never recover from what was done to her. But yet I just KNOW some of you are going to bleet how life is so sacred…wow. To me it takes more than a heart beat to have a life.

Sometimes a blanket is just a blanket.

I have a blanket that my (Catholic) mother made for me, and I wouldn’t get rid of it just because I’m not Catholic, although I did give away my Infant Jesus of Prague statue. (It should go to someone who will take care of it.)
