with her at her parents’ house for at least nine months. First, I felt uncomfortable in their church. And my wife just did not like going to church at
all. Then within a few months she got pregnant and now we have such a cute wonderful little boy named Aaron! He is not blind, he can see. And he’s always
happy and loves learning new things. he just turned a year old last month and we love him lots! Anyway,
I felt uncomfortable in her parents’ church. They had communion one time and without asking someone in her family just grabbed me and took me up to the
alter. Not knowing what to do, I just stood there. Then I was given a cracker and grape juice. Since they really only believe that it’s a symbol I guess
I can call it that? So anyway I was hesitant, then someone asked me if I wanted it. So I at that point just felt embarrased and ate and drank it, the whole
time feeling odd inside because well it’s not really the real thing. So then child services got involved shortly after the baby was born and were going
to take him away most likely they thought we couldn’t take care of a baby because we are blind, among other things. So I got in touch with the president
of the National Federation of the Blind in Pennsylvania and we got that straightened out so we have our baby/toddler now. Anyway, my wife has gotten into
Reiki. I wanted to research it because sending energy to people sounded a bit proposterous and a bit unusual. I found some conflicting opinions on it and
then came across a website
christianreiki.org I think it is. She then recently told me she had joined a religious organization called the order of the
white moon. This appears to be a pegan or some offshoot of Wicca. I think what she’s doing is trying to find where she belongs in some type of religion.
She has some problems with the catholic religion. And I’m not quite sure how to approach her on some subjects because I don’t know. And then she says something
like: “well you’re not a good catholic then if you don’t know this stuff.” And I don’t have a response so I let it drop. ok. let me list the problems she
has, then maybe some of you people can help me out ok? by the way I’m 25 years old and she is 23 years old.

- Her biggest problem is that women can’t be priests. She feels the church is male dominated and that women are not equal in the church.
- She is questioning whether or not Jesus is the only way to heaven or if there are other ways she thinks there may be other ways or other means.
- She says that she is against organized religion. Yet today she said if the pope came to our city, she would go to mass if the pope was saying it. She
says she is against organized religion, but since she has joined the order of the white moon, she is a member of an organized religion, it’s just that
the organization is not a group of people in a building headed by a visible leader that you can talk to and things. Ok so advice on helping her on her
spiritual journey would be welcome. Oh also, with me…Due to the fact that the VR agency has low expectations for blind people in this state, I am working
with the NFB president (national federation of the blind–, president) to make the agency to pay for me to go to an NFB training center in Colorado for
eight months. I feel this will be good in the longrun for my wife and son even if my side of the family who is catholic doesn’t think so. I too am catholic
by the way. At the center i will be instructed by other blind people Everyone who works there are blind adaults. So all my instructors will be blind. I
will learn far superior travel skills than those taught by the sighted people who work for the state agency as well as cooking, wood working using power
tools like electric saws and things, technology and much more. What do you all think of this decision for me to leave for eight months in order to make
my family’s life the best it can be? I don’t want us living on SSI our whole lives if I can help it. Also I talked to Julie Deden, the woman who is blind
and who is the director of the center…by the way these people are totally blind, they have no sight at all, or very little sight. Like the catholic church
is the true and first Christian church. The nfb is the oldest and most stable blindness organization who advocate for what blind people need to be successful.
The ACB is more recent and I, personally do not recommend them other than their acbradio.org site. if you want, feel free to email me outside of the forum
at: I will spell this out.

at sign is @ and dot is the . … So any advice or suggestions you have would be welcome. Also, due to our having received less than adequate rehab instruction
while growing up, the state calls it rehab, the NFB does not think of blind people as needing to be rehabilitated they hld extremely high expectations
of us and yes the first month or so at the center for me from what I hear will be very rigorous. So feel free to contact me on any or all of these issues
that I have brought up.
