Throwing things at your husband, is ok check

Throwing your husband out of the hospital room, is ok

Punching your husband, flipping in out of his chair at your mother in laws, is ok

Silly, It was because of hormones…really ?

This is the advise given to this young father? What are you telling him. Its not so bad, violence comes with Marriage?

Would you prefer us to tell him, OMG your wife is a psycho throw her out and never look back call the cops and put a restraining order on her because she’s abusive make sure you call your priest to bless her your home and probably exorcise her since it looks as if she’s being abusive because an evil spirit took over her!!

If that’s what you would like us to tell him then there I told him!!!

No one here said that stuff is ok, and some were more vocal than others about it definitely NOT being ok. What most of us are saying that yeah, her behavior is wrong, but retaliation and anger on the husband’s part are not going to help. Hormones can do some crazy things. Husbands need to be extra patient and kind during a pregnancy in order to help their wives control themselves. Having two raging lunatics won’t help matters.

What I personally am advocating is the husband not reacting negatively in order to diffuse the situation so that they can THEN come to a resolution.

And hormones can certinly cause the wife to be less culpable for her actions. I am sure that most of those women (the good ones anyways) who threw their hubbies out of the delivery room or yelled/swore at them apologized once they were back in their right mind. **

Ugh~ I knew someone would get their drawers in a twist over this…(POST 81…forgot to quote)…Sometimes to some women, the hormones from pregnacy affect your every being. All the women here offered good advice~we letting this new dad to be, a perspective on what his wife is going through. Glad you are so perfect that you have never gotten angry, much less had a hormone fulled fit…

The point is that of course anything that happens where violence is involved is not “right” but during such a delicate state there are things that provoke a woman to get a little hormonal and over emotional, obviously and sometimes because certain times hubbies decide to stay away instead of confronting the situation may add to that stress their pg wives are going through and eventually will lash out because they feel there is no other way…

OF course the advice given to the OP is to go and speak with her not avoid situations with his wife and once he speaks with her I am sure she will apologize and get down to the root of the problem and be able to work things out!!!

And sorry about the last sarcastic post I put no offense really…sorry!! Just was wondering what it was you wanted us to say to him?!

Okkkk~my hubby shoulda kept his mouth shut! Trust me 9 outa 10 women would have puched him~the tenth that didnt woulda been a nun!

When I was pregnant with our oldest daughter I worked retail. Well, I had to work one Sunday and the roads were terrible and I was going to have to be at the store all day by myself, so my DH said he would drive me to work and hang out with me for the day, there was a snow storm so no one was going to be out at an outlet mall shopping. So we head out. We are about 5 mins. down the road when I start to cry. The roads were really bad, but crying was not helping my husbands driving. I then yell out, bawling like a baby, " I want to go home". Well, hubby looks at me and yells, “what the he!! is your problem”, I didn’t know, I was just crying. Then he started to laugh and laugh. He realized that it was hormones. I cried the whole way there, he laughed. Every winter I get at least one, “I want to go home from him”! I can laugh about it now, but then I was so worried about the roads and so sad that he was laughing.

I’m wary of blaming all of this on hormones. We have no idea what’s going on in their marriage. Yes…hormones can wreak havoc…but if this continues, and the OP continues to accept blame for his wife’s behavior…or sweeps his own feelings under the carpet, trust me…her behavior will continue after the pregnancy. A tone will have been set, that when wife says jump…he says how high. I think we need to be cognizant that while hormones are probably at play here, she owes him an apology. And she needs to talk to her doc. Not enough people on here are recommending that…

Yes, the OP can mend the fence that he himself damaged by leaving the room, and ignoring his wife…but, she needs to apologize or I’m afraid a tone will be set. How many marriages have we witnessed, where the wife is so berating and insulting to her husband, that he just stays silent? Not saying that would happen here! :o Just sayin’.

OP–Mend your own fence, but if this becomes habitual, please have her see a doctor…because ‘being hormonal’ isn’t an acceptable reason, for a hubby to beat up verbally or otherwise. Granted, I’m hopeful that she accepts where she was at fault, and sees the need to ALSO say she is sorry for hurting your feelings.

23eagle was probably trying to make that point…😛

Yeah, but he was a sassypants about it…😛

I agree~if it would continue (if mine would have or have gotten worse, I would let my dr know asap! I did let her know after having dd about ppd!)

I"ll bet if they both apologize and move on, things will most likely be just fine…👍 For those of us that have been there~expecting your first is such a scary, stressful, happy, excited time all rolled into one!

This is a good point. You make me think of a thread from 2 months ago:

forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=267954

Just 2 months ago, the CAF ladies were all advising the men that they should NOT dismiss the things that women say while they’re “hormonal”, because (quote): “the timing of the argument is due to your hormones, but the subject of the argument is completely valid. It’s just that the hormones made you lose your temper and bring it up.”

Now, the man is suddenly supposed to completely ignore what she’s saying because it’s the “hormones talking”. How do we know? Maybe there are some genuine issues that haven’t come up in the thread yet?

It’s like men need to simultaneously follow two sets of rules to have a good relationship with their women…

I agree–It is a scary time. That is the right word, actually. :sad_yes: Scary meaning…unfamiliar territory. By the second, you’re a pro. lol

And to the men here…we ladies do NOT…I repeat, DO NOT like when we are hormonal. :nope: We feel badly about our bizarro world behavior. But it sometimes blindsides us. 😦 Before I started taking a good holistic supp, I had migraines, cramps, irritiability…paranoia! The latter was the worst…

So, it’s not like we’re thrilled and excited to be going through such turmoil…the polar opposite! I just tell my hubby now…honey, let’s not discuss anything that doesn’t require yes or no for the next day or two…ok? It helps, because he knows what that means. Then, WE ride it out…and all is well in the whatevergirl-PenguinsFan household. 😃

Wish we knew this eons ago though?!

**NO, the man is NOT supposed to ignore stuff and chalk it up to hormones. He is supposed to empathize, diffuse, and help them BOTH have a great pregnancy experience and a better marriage. If one spouse falls, the other is supposed to carry them. Then they can work on getting back on their feet.

Now, what he is not supposed to do is take things personally (unless he KNOWS not feels) that they are personal attacks. He is also not supposed to retaliate like a 2 year old.

If the wife is being irrational it is up to the husband to be the rational one. Just as it would be the same in a reverse situation.**

**Almost everyone here has advocated them talking this through so that they can fix this. Hopefully that means that she will apologize to him for her hurtful outburst and he will apologize for his childish retaliation.

Is that more clear?**

That is what I meant by scary! As in scary: I have no clue what is going to happen! We are ttc our second, I am sure I wont even breatk a sweat! LOL!

I think the better the communication lines are open, the better these hormonal issues can be tolerated!👍

what? you don’t like to juggle? lol 😉 :juggle:

Wow…you take good notes!! I’m impressed. 👍 You are right…women need to communicate what they are going through. People who yell and throw things, might find themselves alone some day. :o

Gotta communicate ladies. Gotta be understanding, men. Gotta love your neighbor as yourself. (where have we heard that one?):o But, forget flowers, guys…jewelry is usually better. lol

Whhhhaaaaat…I’m jooooookeeeeeeng. 😃

that’s really not that funny…please don’t joke like that. we would NEVER joke about that if a man posted that. I know you’re kidding, but c’mon. 😉
