Wikipedia claims Pope Francis is pro-contraception

Anyone with even one active brain cell does NOT cite wikipedia as a credible source. 'Nuff said.
 
if true , the use of condoms to prevent disease is not contraception.
 
The referenced link does not even discuss contraception. I will edit the wikipedia article.

EDIT: Looks like I’m not considered enough of a veteran user to edit. Can somebody remove this?
 
The problem is that you can’t use contraception to prevent disease without preventing pregnancy at the same time. In and of itself, using a condom to prevent the transmission of a disease is not a sinful thing. But since it also prevents the creation of life…well, obviously its problematic.
 
apologies ,my assumption was same -sex relations as that is the secular press obsession
 
Article says there were rumors, but in practice he stood with the Church. Of course, rumors are about as reliable as a CDO formed of liar loans.

Not to mention that there isn’t any evidence that they prevent disease at all.
 
Don’t rely on information from wikipedia. It’s not a reliable source. The only form of contraception that is effective in preventing the spread of STDs/STIs and unwanted pregnancies is abstinence.
 
Piers Morgan just grilled Rick Santorum on this issue. Rick basically said, “I’ll believe it when I hear it from his mouth :rolleyes:” haha

True, but unfortunately, a vast majority of internet users go to Wiki first since it is generally considered the “most accurate” of sources and is usually at the top of search engines. A simple untruth on Wiki can easily be taken as gospel truth for the media, and then most people (Catholics included) who don’t take time to research will believe it.

Yes, Wikipedia, you use it on a thesis or disertation and most universities toss out your entire body of research. Why? Simple, as several --most notably Stephen Colbert – have suggested any old fool can edit a wikipedia page. For instance, I could write that Christopher Hitchens was a most miserable creature who regretted all the lies he ever said about Mother Teresa and died a forgotten and pathetic man. However, this would be called vandalism and quickly deleted.

Yeah, Wikipedia isn’t really a reliable source for anything. Just because it says something like the pope supports contraceptiives doesn’t make it true. It means you check down the original source and see who heard what and from where or if someone was just making stuff up.
