In this video Patrisse Cullors, BLM co founder says she is a trained Marxist.

A week or two ago this quote was on her Wikipedia page (Patrisse Cullors - Wikipedia) but now it is gone. The wayback web time machine oddly enough has no records of this page.

Perhaps her statement was a slip (see how she hesitates to say it?) and now they are hiding their agenda.

Just found a screenshot I took of it.

Take a look at the Talk Page. It’s a matter of some debate given the implications behind the word in today’s culture. There’s been some questionable sources regarding the matter as well.
I’m sure it’ll be included eventually, but Wikipedia is currently dealing with some brigading issues on BLM activists thanks to some alt-right trolls. Probably easier to leave it out for now, since it’s a minor thing.

Saw this story awhile back
Throughout June, Wikipedia activists have been conducting an “edit-a-thon” started by a newly-established Black Lives Matter group on the site, creating large amounts of content on “racial justice” issues.

You can view the history of modifications made to a wikipedia document along with the discussion (if any) around the changes. For BLM you can see the discussion around the page here.

In the discussions there is talk of making separate pages for BLM the organization and BLM the movement, just as there are separate pages for the Black Panther Party organization and Black Panther Party movement. (Understandably that there is a difference isn’t necessarily well understood).

The article page is currently locked to prevent vandalism. Normally anyone and everyone can modify a page. But if a page is the target of a lot of questionable changes it will be temporarily locked. The discussion around it being locked is also visible.
The wayback web time machine oddly enough has no records of this page.
There would only be a record in web archives if the content in question were on the page at the time the archive is updating its record of the page.

Breitbart has been a bit upset with Wikipedia ever since Wiki decided that it would not use Breitbart as a source of fact

I believe we have a new poster here or at least, new to this area from when this was posted not too long ago.

BLM and a few others do seem to be proponents of Marxist types ideas, Castro-type ideas, Castroism. Chile ran into large protests late last year I believe which appears somewhat to be a blueprint of what we went through. This is agitation and Marxist, Socialist, whatever, yes, they speak of these ideas.

And Colin basically talks like this do, maybe Oliver Stone does as well.

mmomi13. Thank you for posting this information!

I wonder how long before Google/YouTube removes the video with this information too?

But if you read the talk page I posted, it’s been discussed why this is only partly true.
It’s being left out for now largely because of threads and discussions like this, where statements such as “trained Marxists” are used to immediately discredit anything she might have to say or used to attack her character, which has already happened, hence the page being locked. There’s been discussion about potentially including it in a contextualized bit later in the article, but there aren’t many NPOV sources about this statement, and given how politically relevant BLM is right now, I can understand why the page editors are a bit leery of including the quote.

It’s not censorship, it’s Wikipedia trying to maintain its standards. Until someone can come up with a NPOV source I doubt the quote will be added until the brigading dies down.

This what the article you posted on wikipedia states
If the statement about her saying she has been a “trained Marxist” is kept in, Wikipedia should state where the information came from
I have no problem with that, state that she herself said it during an interview. She is not denying it.

Read farther down. There’s discussion regarding the context of the word Marxism and there’s some NPOV issues regarding including the quote.

From article…
My main problem with any mention of the word Marxism or Marxist in this biography article is that sources will not typically sift through the three meanings of Marxism to determine which one is being used.
So now we have three definition It provides this link to the Encyclopedia Britanica whick tells us nothing about the three types.

(three meanings of Marxism - (here is linked article)

Can’t argue with gobbledgook.

That is a discussion about the article, and not the article itself.

People do use words with different senses. For example, if someone is talking about anti-facists before WWI vs talking about modern anti-facists the two may be much unlike each other. Further context may be needed when applying the label as not to cause misunderstandings.

How do you have a discussion about the article without the article itself. It does not matters. People understand Marxists

From the wording of your question it looks like you are responding to something slightly different from what I’ve said.

If you’ve got questions on what a Talk page is Wiki has an explanation for that which may b helpful.

See Talk Pages.

No the article first quoted by Funvod states there are three definitions of Marxist but does not list them. Anyone can change anything I can say there are 10 definition. Someone else can say there are 5 definition of Marxist.

She claims to be a Marxist

What is a ‘trained Marxist’? I can see the sense if someone says 'I am a Marxist/Socialist/Capitalist/Libertarian…(add any other tag as you see fit). But putting ‘trained’ in front of it really looks stupid. Perhaps ‘practising’ would be better, or is that stealing a Catholic descriptor?

Maybe there are education camps “cells” somewhere who train them or could mean she was trained as a community organizer in Marxist theory. She believes she is trained.

In the Wikipedia talk discussion there was also the question of what she meant by it. In the discussion, the talked about saying “she identifies as” noting that there is a lack of contextually relevant sources that would substantiate her position.

For now their position on this is “I don’t know.”

Are…are we reading the same thing?
I don’t think I can have a serious conversation with you if you literally don’t understand the material being discussed.
