What about a workers right NOT to be FORCED to join a union? Organized labor cares NOTHING for working people and are all about greed. Romney would be a better choice for workin Americans than you.
You could also say that BIG BUSINESS cares NOTHING for working Americans. As with anything in this life there are good things about unions as well as bad. I don’t always agree with my union’s policies. I have worked in the non-union sector in my field before I joined my labor union; and the union wages are FAR better, the health benefits are FAR better, and worker safety protocols are FAR FAR FAR better.
I know that there are labor organizations out there are corrupt. There are also corrupt police officers. Are all cops bad? No.
Mitt Romney hates ALL of organized labor; I am only talking about ONE man.
ORGANIZED LABOR STANDS FOR:
~An honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay.
~The 8 hour workday.
~A living wage.
~A 40 hour work week with OT pay after 8 hours.
~WEEKENDS!
~NO child labor. (Can China say that?)
~Retirement benefits i.e.: pension, annuity, etc…
~Safe working conditions.
~Fraternal support of your union brothers in need, be it financial, emotional, or moral support.
~Fair and equitable treatment at the hands of management for ALL, regardless of age, race, RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION, or gender.
~AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE.
~Collective Bargaining.
I am a third generation union member, and many of the labor laws that protect our workers are a direct result of my (and likely your) forefathers banding together to be treated FAIRLY.
Sadly, a few bad apples (and lots of unfair negative press) have tarnished a tremendous force for justice. Sounds like a very old institution we all know, doesn’t it? Banding together to negotiate good wages and conditions is a VERY Christian idea, isn’t it?
Mitt Romney sided against Labor at every turn as governor of Massachusetts.
And as far as being FORCED to join a union is concerned… That’s usually a condition of being hired. You know that BEFORE you take the job. Don’t like it? Don’t work there. OR… When the time comes to elect your officers, run for office and change the rule yourself.
I am also VERY sorry that I won’t be getting your vote in November. However, please know that I only want what’s best for the nation. We may not agree, but I’d like to think that at heart we want what’s best for everyone.
