After thinking about why God created man, a creature who would reject Him, I must go back to the 2nd question in the catechism : “Why did God make me?”
Answer : God made me to know Him, love Him & to serve Him."

Since God is Omnipotent , knowing all things, especially that Lucifer & Adam would reject Him from the get-go, God should have thrown in the towel & cancelled His creation. That’s what we mortals would have done!

God is also, All-just and in fairness to those who would know, love & serve Him…He had to continue His plan. In Genesis 18, Abraham kept asking God ‘will you spare the city of Sodom for 50, 40, 30, 20 even 10 righteous people?’ Only Lot, his wife & 2 daughters were saved. we know what happened to Lot’s wife, though. :eek:

God doesn’t want anyone to perish, so He gives everyone enough chances to repent & accept Him!

“G-d made me to know Him, love Him & to serve Him.” Do you believe that is why G-d made you, or did G-d make you and all of us out of His love for us? Even our parents (in most instances) don’t “make” us so we can love and serve them; why should G-d do so?

In the Abraham story you mention, note that Abraham pleads with G-d and, in a sense, calls upon G-d to behave according to His own moral code. There is a conflict here between G-d and Man, a conflict that G-d Himself encourages according to Jewish thought, which teaches us we should not blindly obey even G-d and certainly not anyone else.

There’s a huge problem with this thinking;

God makes people knowing full well that they will in fact reject him and will absolutely end up in hell.

God cannot say, I made him so he could love me, for the simple fact that God already knew the man would never love him.

Well the thing people often forget is that if God is God then He had to create us and He had to create us the way we are. It can’t be any other way.

Quote meltzerboy “G-d made me to know Him, love Him & to serve Him.” Do you believe that is why G-d made you, or did G-d make you and all of us out of His love for us? Even our parents (in most instances) don’t “make” us so we can love and serve them; why should G-d do so? "
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Don’t blame me …that’s what the catechism has! I believe God made me out of His love for me but ultimately it will lead to me knowing, loving & serving Him just as the catechism says.

Hello Seraphim.
Sure. Some good examples would be the idea that God creates some people just to burn in hell or that God had to sufficiently torture His Son in order to let us off or Pat Robertson saying that Hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti was God punishing those people or the bigotry some exhibit towards homosexuals.
Since none of these things can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, I’m bereft of any kind of validation for your claims. Can you provide sources that are credible for your claims? And links please, if you don’t mind. Otherwise…

There is no future tense for God, who is in the Eternal Now.

All is happening in God’s Mind instantaneously.

He was talking about disagreeable things done by Christians generally, not just Catholics. In fact, I think most of the examples given are things done by Protestants.
